Things you would like to see in GT5 other than cars?

-> I like to see some pace cars in action while doing rolling starts, and an option if you would like either a rolling start or a standing start except on more prestigious races (in which the game will set the rules). (:

i want to be able to take the exhaust off so your car is extremely loud or even better take the headers off and have the gases coming straight from the engine and be able to die from exaust gases.

Mercedes SL
Yeah improve 'em!

And my biggest wish in GT5 is not Ferraris and Lamborghinis. I want 50 cars when you enter the 24 hours Le Mans, and not 6. I want it to get dark when its getting night when you drive a 24 hours race. I was really disapointed with 24h Nürburgring, and Le Mans. Darkness and 50 cars. Now that would be realistic.
i agree! 👍 Realism and DETAILS please!!!!! :ill:

Every thing every body has put in are great ideas, but i think GT-5 Should also have touge and mountain pases would be great and make it the best game ever. also if the mountain passes had gutters as the real mountains and that if its fall that there be leaves and twigs and all that other stuff you find in the streets.Another great thing would be being able to drop the clutch when you desire in the start.Along to go with that a clutch pedal on the GT 5 steering wheel

I could fill an encyclopedia with all the stuff I'd like to see in GT5, but one thing that would be friggin' sweet would be, instead of having the semi-generic title screens like they have now in the race select menus, they could draw up nifty, stylized screens that look like race posters or program covers. Picture this: Instead of the rather ho-hum graphic promoting the Grand Valley 300km, there's a really artsy looking poster that just jumps off the screen. Better yet, why not have a realistic sounding name and sponsor, like "Michelin Grand Valley 300km," or "Ford Grand Prix of Seattle." If GT5 has a 3D garage you could hang those posters in it, or you could even print them out like photos from photo mode.

The biggest thing (next to lame AI) for me would be to be able to know precisely what you were racing against. It would be even better if there were actual rules to the different races that made you build a car specifically for that series, to try to be competitive, maybe this could be turned off for people who arent as serious.

An opponent skill level emulator similar to that in forza would be good, then the opponent driver is always racing on par with you. The A-spec points in GT seemed like a good idea initially, but i noticed this is not a good approximation of driver skill, i have won 150point races and gotten killed in 90 point races, not cool.

Also, having experience on a real track, I think the cars should be WAY harder to control. The ability to turn of the abs in forza helps with that too, in fact I think forza is more of a drivers game right now than GT.

it would be cool if you could visually change your car more too, with aero goodies and junk.

uhh ONLINE RACING

that too

-1080i for PAL version
-less cars, less races, less supershort races
-instead complete raceweekends, more setup orientated gameplay, weather, day and night, career, pacecar, rolling starts, safetycar situations, more grip on racingline
-competitive classes and more variation in classes: formula classes, go-karts :) , bikes
-viewpoint behind the steering wheel (so i can see the corners coming), or better: interiors so you can see the braking forces (GT Legends, GTR)
-Telemetry: MoTec
-racing store: create a character, buy your own helmet, gloves, racingsuit
-podium, trophy room
-trophies only obtainable in online championships
-AI drivers with name, age, racing abilities, career, that you have to beat, for a better status

-AS DEFAULT normal tires for road cars, not Sports Medium :yuck:, DEFAULT TCS and ASM off
-road cars like bmw, mercedes limited at 250km/h, porsches without limiter
-no ASM and TCS on classic cars
-complete race packages to upgrade your (classic) car to a racing car: remove speedlimiter, telemetry system, sports suspension, taped headlights :)
-brake locking, adjust brake pressure in setup
-much much better sound, PD never been to a race (DTM, F1?)
-sound dynamics:
-in car sound based on car type: road car, race car:
-road car: less sound
-race car: very low sound loss
-during replays no sudding loss of sound :yuck:
-intelligent camerawork. le mans replays on the straight are a laugh :yuck:
-manual driving into the pitlane

Most of the wishes are small corrections, but the the (japanese) people at PD lack self-criticism, so they don't see the EASY TO SOLVE problems, unfortunately :indiff:

Well, I didn't read through all 870 posts, but one gets the general idea of what people wants...

My 2p (in no particular order):

1. The AI needs improvement. Like everybody else I'm so sick of the way they stick to their predefined lines. Especially in Driving Missions etc. where you can get a 5 sec. penalty because THEY slam into YOU... :grumpy:

2. Qualification. As someone else said, where in the world do you automatically start in the last position?!?

3. The menu layout is tiresome. Too many clicks... This could be improved easily.

4. When fitting your car with new rims, it would be nice to be able to define the size of the new rim, i.e. 15", 16" etc. It would also be nice to see some new manufacturers in addition to the existing ones.

I'm not talking about ricing a car here, but if your stock car has 14" rims, it would be nice to put on 16" instead.

5. Clutch support for the next wheel (which hopefully will get force feedback pedals)

6. Prize cars that can help you move on to the next races instead of the stupid random way they are given now (you have to buy an Audi TT to race the TT series and you win an Audi TT, or whatever).

7. An option to install the game to HD, cause the loading times in GT4 stinks...

EDIT:

8. The engine and exhaust sounds REALLY needs improvement. If I had just bought an Aston Martin Vanquish and it sounded like that in the game, I'd shoot myself. Or the guys at AM :) And please lose the lame reverbed effect...

If all you ricers want a ricer game (body kits etc), get Need for Speed or Midnight Club. I'm all for adding performance parts to pretty much any car, but GT is a game about racing, not puting a 10 ft wing and decals (which adds 15hp you know ) on your Civic and looking like a fool.
Any one else with me?

^ I'm so with you, GT needs to be serious with REAL aftermarket parts, not those APC pieces of s**t.

BT-> Another thing I'd like to see tires on where you can see the thread design while your shopping for sport tires (attn. tire makers!!!), or a tire shop on where you can select Falkens, Goodyear's, Conti's, etc. (:

But if the kits or particualr patrs were official to the brand or racing standards for a type, why not have them. Sure some just want to dress the car up and yes games like NFS:U and MC are fine for that. But forme I'd like to see the difference and experience it in a game that would be as close to real as possible.

I'm sick of arcade racers, gt is the only racing game worthy of my attention these days.

What i'd like to see is perhaps some dynamic weather and lighting conditions. Especially in Enduro's. Environment changes and such.

Like cloud cover forming and a dry track becoming wet or from day to night. That would spice the racing up. But none of that pre-determined weather crap though. totally dynamic.

Also a game clock or something. As well the date system it's already got. So when your in the game and you load a track at night it comes up as exactly that. So that would mean conditions based on time. But to avoid things having races being held at any time, key races should be only available in certian times. Or then again maybe that's too constricting. But tis more realistic.

no license test (if you need to get used to the physic, the arcade mode is right there)
no drving mission
more championship, more race

More cars on race because 6 is just so boring, you know like 10 or 12 cars would be good,
cockpit view, you know, you can see the steering wheel moving and like somebody said: weathers. Boy that would be a fantastic game.

No offense, but these are probably the worst 2 ideas I've ever heard.

- License test is a must for new players. A GT game takes some time getting used to, license test really help. Of course, I too get sick of them after some tens of tests, but that doesn't mean they have to do away with all of them. They just have to be more creative. Some of the test in GTPrologue were actually very refreshing. One had you accelerating without any traction control while keeping your tires from spinning like hell was key to reaching the finish line in time. Another had you racing around a track with a very limited amount of fuel and you had to make sure you didn't run out. The overtaking lessons were nice too.

- I just love the driving missions. No race in the game ever requires you to get the maximum out of your car (and your driving skills), but these missions make up for that. Okay, some are very, very frustrating, especially if you have to wait for 2 minutes to try again. But conquering them just feels fantastic, more of an accomplishment then anything else in the game. I hope they still have 'em in GT5, the only I'd like to see is some more variety.

i agree too^ :)
+i'd like to see more details on the track. Like a pace car in rolling starts, more action in the stands, debris at the side of the track, and tire marks from a previous time.

Well said 👍

But i still prerfer not to have license test and driving mission, save disk space for more race and track. :)

New stuff i though about... I'd like a Clutch and Manual 6 speed operation support. I know its hard on a ps controler, and the logitech wheel doesn't have a clutch and 'H' transmission, but that doesn't mean you can't get one, and i'd like to have full support for such a system if needs be.

Also, a replay/video editor just like the Photomode editor, where you can place cameras and capture race moments that can later be imported on a computer for further editing.

and finally, i think Project Gotham 3 had a very good idea... the possibility of watching a race in real-time via LIVE! converage. GT5 should have the same thing, its too fun a feature not to have.

The option to choose how many opponents to go up against in arcade, and track meets. Also the option to choose what position like back in GT3. It would seem more logical to start from the back during a track meet.

I would like to see,

1- real f1's (that sound real)
2- perhaps some oval racing(NASCAR)
3- day-to-night during enduro's
4- rain halfway during an enduro and switch to rain tires
5- no 20,000 dollar tires
6- better exhaustsounds
7- tire marks, better screeches
9- drag races
10- wheelis on appropiately tuned cars(maybe a wheely bar :dopey: )
11- and for DSM fans, a 1999 eclipse gsx instead of a 1995 crappy one :sly:
12- call me crazy but an offroad enduro would be COOL  (something like BAJA)
13- how can i forget, mid-ohio raceway

oh ya, the other stuff u guys mentioned

About the tires, i too find it kind of annoying to have 40000cr tires... but its to simulate the cost of having those 'all the time'.

Else, you'd have to pay 1k for each pair... every race (at least)... which would be even MORE annoying.

The Nurburgring Sudschleife ;) :)

Unfortunately, all that remains of it is either completely abandoned or has been converted into a road. If PD could replicate it though, that would be fantastic. :D:tup:

like everyone else i long for better ai and more cars on the grid. also perhaps the ability to choose tyre and rim sizes, wider range of spoilers and a spray booth.

i'd like there to be 2 garages... this has been bothering me since GT3 and in GT4 too. i'm trying to fully modify all my cars one at a time. so it would be nice if you could put all the highly powered/modified cars in one garage and all the slow ugly cars (that you hate but you can't sell because you have have to use them for races) in another.

eg. i hate my small mitsubishi car, it doesn't really have a name, and i hate that deloreon looking car i won, and there are like 30 others that i hate and i don't like them being in the same garage as all my pretty cars :grumpy: and i don't want to sell them because i might need them for a specific race later on

I'd like to be able to change the tyre pressure, among other things but this esspecially. Its annoying that you can change the camber angle of the tyres but not adjust the pressure acording to the angle, therfor making the camber option a total waste.

Flags at tracks, such as a blue flag when overtaking, and a yellow if there is a danger to other drivers on the track somewhere, blumin' annoying when you charge around a blind corner and come face to face with a plank who can't point the car forward ... etc, etc.

Choice of tyre/wheel width.

Ablity to flip the car over (realisticly as possible).

Concrete that isn't mascarading as a tyre wall. If a tyre wall is hit i'd like to bounce and see the wounded wall (same with all other materials).

Grass and the like that actually dirties the car during races, giving a valid point to having a car wash feature.

And of course brilliant AI (as if its not obvious).

When doing a company such as BMW, Aston Martin or other such prestigious manufacturers then at least feature some (i mean all really :) ) of their great work, rather than a handful, and not waste time making a steam carage from the 18-bloody-hundreds!

Heritage tracks, Donnington, Silverstone, Oulton Park (thats pretty biast due to my nationality, but hey, sue me!) And certainly more Locations (Australia, South Africa, China .. etc.)

Real championships (WTCC partularily :sly: ), although there is a problem with their monopolisation.

Being able to decide your own time of racing, would love to warm my rubber at the 'ring during sunset, lets hope they make my dream come true.

If a player of the GT series has completed their license tests in any other game (maybe restrict it ot just GT3/4) then they should not have their intelligence patronised by forcing them to take a wide birth corner in an S2000 following a big blue line ... give us a break! 👎

Real currency.

The ability to upload your own music from devices such as MP3 players and devise your own soundtrack for the game (if you wanted to that is).

No damage - unless it's incredibly realistic, which i doubt.

Proper rally areas around europe.

Some public road tracks, what springs to my mind is the Isle of man TT course, or famous car driving areas of scotland. (and no yankee tracks, roads are all 90 degree's and pretty damn boring, in reference to the GT4 New York track)

The ability to save replays and upload them to the PC, its possible with GT4, but i don't know how, and i'd like a straight forward option to do so.

i would like to be able to have the official alloy wheel selection for the model and manufacturer, and be able to add offical sports kits or add ons for a price (bought from the dealer) what do ya think?
