Things you would like to see in GT5 other than cars?

Something that came up right now in my conturbed mind would be the hability of GT5, just like the VW Golf Ads, "Un-pimp your car".

Getting a GT DVD near a NFS DVD would make the NFS game serious and grown up, remove that ugly rap and those pink/yellow/rotten pizza colors.

but i dont like the idea of body kits and graphics and whatnot, this shouldnt turn into NFSU with racetracks instead of street racing.

i agree with you entirely, i hate all that over styling...but some pin-heads like it.

I'm not sure if this has been said yet I have not had time to read all post. I believe the problem with selecting the right car for a race can be fixed by having a list of cars that can be used for each race. Then having a difficulity setting that is selectable. On the novice setting maybe no damage and you can over power the ai cars, on the expert setting you will have to do much more tunning to compete and extencive damage if you crash. I think this would work well for all who play GT5.

I would also like to hear more realistic sounds such as a 70's muscle car should not sound like a import 4 cyl. And possible sound changes when upgrading exhaust.

After playing Forza for a while, I like the bodykits they make available for the cars. And seriously, you have every other performance enhancement available in Gran Turismo, including tailwings, so I've seen the light. When you think about it, why is adding every performance enhancement to a car "proper," but if you add an aerodynamic nose or bodypanel it's somehow cheap and riced up? 95% of ricing is cool, but those one or two items aren't?

The thing that really cheapens a car is adding all that, and uglifying it with a garrish paint job, but I do want to have all the modifications you can do with a car in real life, including a comprehensive paint shop. I don't want any limits in Gran Turismo 5, and if someone makes an ugly street candy out of a good sports car, what the heck? Isn't that what having freedom to choose all about, even the freedom to be ignorant? ;)

I only want the wide body and some carbon parts, more for weight reduction than looks, then plexiglas windows, and some other stuff, also more japanese events, also D1 and JGTC(more than one race, but less than a season)

Don't remember if I wrote it before.
There are clearly two versions of bodykits here.

1) The right one, that transforms an old Lada Laika in a strong racer (Carbon Fiber, Racing Paintkit with numbers, slicks, those black things that replace door glasses, etc.)
2) The wrong one, that transforms a brand new skyline in a bubblegum pack with colorful lights, a giant LCD screen on each door outside and drawings of "The Matrix" on the hood.

I'll choose option 1, please.

I'll have option 1 too, obviously.

But what would the difference be, other than having a name brand on the gear you buy associated with high performance and racing modifications? Hopefully we're all understanding what I'm saying. If you don't like bodykits, do you still do all the other enhancements to rice up your car? So what's the difference if you go that remaining 5% and add something aerodynamic to the body itself? I finally see it for what it is. But yes, if GT5 has the extra kits featured, I would like for them to be serious high performance and racing mods, and not just rubber noses and stuff. Those belong on clowns. ;)

I se what your saying. Im not into the whole stick-the-biggest-wing-I-can-on-a-civic sort of thing so the mods will accutly serve a perpose. Who says you cant go fast and look good doing it?

It would be fun but it will never happen, for them to include some public roads, like in Mercedes Benz World Racing. You could take your car and drive it up mountains or highways, but that would take quite a long time, yet it would be fun. For example a city, with traffic in it. I don't want street racing, i just want something like in gumball. You drive fast on the highway and overtake cars and so.

I'm not into the whole street racing or drifting thing, but we'll see.

I would like to see a nice selection of high performance upgrades, including serious bodykits which serve a purpose. Along with this, a nice BIG garage, bigger by far than GT4's, which will allow me to have my stock sports cars, my riced and painted up SCCA types, and the serious professional racing machines.

First of all, I agree with all those who've spoke of multiple 'modes' similar to difficulty settings. A lot of things have been reccomended for GT5 that would make the game more realistic, and a LOT more fun for the experienced driver, but might not appeal to those more casually playing the game. A couple of different 'intensity' modes could solve this, with the lesser ones playing similar to GT4 (thanks the person who said that before) and the highest even having slightly career-based features, like sponsorship and whatnot. People complain about B-spec mode, and how it's 'lazy' and so on, so maybe these people would be happy if it was excluded in the higher 'intensity' settings. Likewise, some more casual drivers are put off by the 24hr endurance races, but maybe those could be only inlcuded in the more intense settings, and instead of a b-spec mode, another driver could fill in for you, to stop you driving the entire 24hrs. As far as I know, no driver in the le mans 24hr can race for more than 14hrs (that right?), so this wouldn't be cheating at all.

(Edit: don't know if this has been mentioned yet - didn't quite read everything so far..)
I'd also like to see the ability to completely change parts in a car, such as the engine and so on, and even the ability to put together your own car for an upcoming championship. Not to build the car from scratch.. that would be silly.. but the ability to select an engine from a tuning company, or take one from another car etc. A lot could be done to add extreme depth to tuning along these lines, with different company's parts having different characteristics and so on. In my opinion, this would make things a lot more interesting than the typically 'buy all the best parts' approach we've seen so far.

Many of us are wanting to see Polyphony model several different upgrades of all the various types, as well as study the many makes and grades of tires available. With the capacity of the PS3 to model the behavior of an object based on the performance physics data encoded into each object, this sort of thing should be entirely doable, and we're hopeful that this will happen with GT5.

For me, upgaded gauges. I want to be able to read the boost guage when I mash the throttle of my 1100hp car. Speaking of boost guages, supercharged cars need them too. Just my two cents on this topic...

Dude, don't leave out Rrrracing Conversion. :D

I think everyone has been hollering for that since GT3.

Edit: Something just occured to me. If Polyphony gives us proper bodykits and a good paint shop, racing conversion may be entirely up to us! That would be a good thing though, because every race car that we own - in Career Mode anyway - should be entirely unique, and not be something that exists in another team somewhere in the racing world. The Raybrig NSX, the Sonex Mercedes 190E, the Castrol Supra and so on should be a car to race against, not to have. In this case, which I hope is the way it will be, Polyphony could give us racing paint scheme templates to make coming up with a good looking paint job easier, while giving us all the graphic tools to create our own.

what about, if your car gets damaged, whilst its racing....water gets inside the car, so it might be harded to hear what a pit manager is saying (if there were a radio) the tacho and speedo play up a little bit? and when the windscreen wipers go on, it wouldn't clear some of the wwater, because its on the inside?

just an idea

Not bad for an idea...👍

Or what if grease got on the wiper blades? (not clear windscreen properly)

and come to think of it...

Has anyone asked for an in-car view? Along with a bonnet view (a proper one this time!) and so on...

anyways, i like this idea Tee-Jay! (as well as what others have mentioned) :sly:

Good idea:tup: I think this would help it to make the jump to "Complete Reality." Skidding and creaking sounds of damaged parts would be great too.

How about improving the camera view for rally racing. Maybe let the camera move a little like Rally Sport Challenge 2. I Hate watching WRC and then playing GT4 Rally races. It is terrible. An improvement in handling and feel would be nice too.

If you watch the demo video of it, it looks like there may be formula 1 cars. If there are, I surely don't want to see Formula Cars racing in with SuperGT cars etc. You wouldn't see it in real life so you shouldn't see it in GT.

erm id like to see the weather things go off the current month so if your racing in january you will race in rain/snow/fog, but if your racing in july you will race in sunny/dry conditions. Also id like to be able to put custom sponsor stickers etc on cars so you could maybe make your own little drifting team and have a car with stickers of your team on it.

The weather thing is an OK idea for some but not all tracks. And keep in mind, these tracks are around the world. Its not like they will all have snow on them at the same time.

"I surely don't want to see Formula Cars racing in with SuperGT cars etc. You wouldn't see it in real life so you shouldn't see it in GT."

I agree, I think that you should at least be able to choose your opposition in arcade mode or something. I'm sick of choosing a GT300 JGTC car or BMW ETCC car and having rally cars as opposition.

I think someone already said it but the option to choose opposition in arcade mode would be great. I'm sick of racing a GT300 JGTC car or BMW ETCC car and ending up racing against rally cars.:grumpy:

with the in car view:

say your racing an opened wheeled car, you dont hav much of a wind shield in front of you, so if there were a helmet-view, dirt would get on the helmets vision, wouldnt it? so, have a limited set of tear-offs, like in motogp4, but better dirt 'particles' so to speak....any one agree?

I'm in the habit of taking multi-car shots in photomode, but since my game save isn't too far along, I do it through Arcade and play with the competition a bit (it also doesn't count if I lose), but it can be really hard to stack the races with the cars you want. For example, if I want to race DTMs, I'm lucky to get one or two other DTM cars in my race; the rest of the firled is JGTC or rally cars or even that old Corvette racer, something which irritates me no end becuase I'm forced to quit out and start again.

I'd like to have the ability to place my views in various postions to suit my needs. Say you like to play from behind the car. You can zoom in close to the back, raise and lower the view to suit you likes. Like playing from the roof cam. Move it from front to back. Like the bumper view, set it up from left to right and with an up and down adjustment as well. Giving you the ability to set it up as you'd like to make it feel as though you're in the drivers seat, passenger's seat, in a right seated or left seated car... All would help to make it appear more like you're in the car... As for the cockpit cam... I've been playing TOCA 3, and honnestly, if they don't do it properly, it's better to simply not have it... Yes, it's a neat feature... but I think most people would like any of the other views better for serious racing...

Single screen VS. replays like in the days of old... Why they changed this, I'll never know. Used to be the best part of the playing your buddies.

The ability to completly control the cameras in the replays to make the replays completly custome to your likeing...

As has been said a million times before... Paintshop!!! Without this feature, it's just another Grand Tourismo game... Forza has it, it works very well, it looks really sweet, and it's about time this franchise had it... Is it all the much to ask!?

Cars: I dont think there is enough that can be said about the cars. Paint schemes, customizable sponsor decals, crash dynamics, open-wheel cars (Formula series), more than 1 or two cars from manufacturers outside of Japan.

Think bigger. I think that GT5 should have a "Sponsorship Mode". Say you start out with a low-end car, win a few races and do pretty decently. In "Sponsorship Mode", when you go "Home", say you get a message/"email" from an established aftermarket parts manufacturer (say Enzo, Bridgestone, etc.) that wants to "Sponsor" you. What this would mean is that every "month" that goes by, you get a certain agreed amount (that the sponsor promised) added to your total credits. Or maybe you get access to certain upgrades that you normally can't get from the default upgrade list. On top of it, your car would have the sponsors decal displayed on your car (and you get to decide the location). For the people that think that there is already too much ad placement in the game, all they have to do is deny the Sponsor's proposal and their car remains the same. After you win more races, you get more offers, etc. Setup should be so that if one company offers more money (than a sponsor is already providing) per month, you can terminate sponsorship from one of your current sponsors.

I dunno. I just think that cars decked out with decals look hot. Case in point:

clk_touring.jpg

Hot.

Another idea (that kinda sorta ties in with the first):
Since everyone already assumes that it will be multiplayer, they should make it more than a "hey I have a good car lets race" kind of thing. Someone mentioned having a "messageboard" already, but have it setup like this: Assign like 40-50 people as "Admins". Along with keeping the GT5 forums clean and whatnot, each "Admin" will be President/General Manager/etc. of a "Racing Team". What this would mean is that they have the ability to recruit racers, based on their performance stats, etc. They also would be in charge of "Sponsorship", whereas an AI controlled Sponsor program would make offers to the GM, and the GM could accept or deny them. All of the racers that are part of the team would exhibit the Racing Team's logo as well as sponsorship decals. All of the money earned from Sponsorship could be used to upgrade your drivers' cars, repair them (if they have a damage repair function like everyone's talking about), and maybe even... to purchase your own Indy-style race track! (and maybe even let you design the layout). I think if Polyphony Digital created an online experience that was tied to a forum (that can be accessed on your PC), it would make GT5 HUGE. An online racing community like that would be cutting-edge.
