Things you would like to see in GT5 other than cars?

I did not read this entire thread, but I noticed this mentioned a few times and just wanted to throw my own plug in for it.

I would love to see a gated shifter and analog clutch supported by the game and of course the hardware provided by Logitech. I have a setup like this for my PC and (at least for me) it makes games more life-like and enjoyable.

I'm sure someone has mentioned this but I would like Realistic GT Auto options.
Oil changes: I've never seen oil filled from the bottom of the car.
Wheels: Different sizes would be nice. I have a civic w 16" slipstreme knockoffs on it. It would be nice to be able to adjust wheel sizes based on what car you are applying it to.

Better exhaust sounds. More cracking and popping is needed.

When Stage 2 lightening is applied...show it!!! I want to SEE carbon fiber hoods and fenders. Show rollcages inside the car, ect. Show different exhaust systems as well. I think there is not enough inside outside detail on the cars. If anyone has played Tokyo Extreme Racer you'll understand what I want to see.

P.S. ONLINE MULTIPLAYER!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah.........a skid pad would be cool too!!!! Damn I'm good at this. We should all just ship in and make our own game.

If I were PD, I'd hire those Div1 Aliens, give them a special version of GT which records everything, and use the lines and braking-points they use as guidelines for licence-tests, missions and AI Lines. I'd hire them as the best possible quality-testing team there is :P

"I want to SEE carbon fiber hoods and fenders"

On actual race cars these are almost always painted over or completely covered by sponsor stickers. Why shouldn't they be painted over on a street car that you're using for racing? It's much more authentic.

I want to see a rating-reward system in GT5

Use the same one used in NR2003 online. It goes like this:

You get points depending where you finish in the race and who you finish in front of or behind.

Example,

If you finish behind a lesser ranked driver you lose 10 points. If you finish behind a somewhat equal driver you lose 5 points. If you finish behind a higher ranked driver you lose a few points.

If you finish ahead of a lesser ranked driver you earn a few points. If you finish ahead of a somewhat equal driver you gain 5 points. If you finish ahead of a higher ranked driver you get 10 points.

After accumulating a certain point average over a 10 race period you either gain or lose a rating. Ratings in NR2003 range from 1-10. The higher ranked you are the higher points average you need to gain ranking or keep your ranking.

Example, some could setup races that only allow drivers ranked 5+ in so you can maximize your points or if you want good competition.

Another PD should do is add a Rewards System which should increase the quality of the online races. Finish 40 races in a row and get a free car download. Don't go off course for a whole race and get 5,000 credits to spend in your virtual garage. Everyone in NR2003 hates to wreck or simply quit a race because they know it will hurt their ratings. The rating system used in NR2003 online encourages them to finish races and drive clean. PD should take note.

Also they need to keep track of EVERY SINGLE STAT. I want to know how many races I've started, completed, how many I've won, top fives, top tens, crashes, favorite car used, miles logged, EVERYTHING.

AND please oh please allow online races the ability to use TIME as a race distance factor rather then laps only. And if your going to have weather and day night shifts, include it in online mode. Oh and allow us to switch to B-Spec during online mode if we wish. This should be an option for the race though, the host should be able to disable B-Spec if he wishes.

How about realistic racing tire use? Like in real life racing, teams would have to use only a certain amount of tires for a round or something (im not really sure) but sometimes they would have to change to newer tires or they would use old ones for the first race and use the older tires for the next race. Does anyone know what im talking about or am i off in disney land?

I know where you are coming from. Some race series, F1 for example, can only use a certain amount of tyres over a race weekend. If they use too many 'fresh' sets of tyres in qualifying, they'll have fewer to use during a race and might end up having to use a 'scrubbed' (part-worn) set at some point in the race.

Seing how quickly tyres, especially race tyres, last in GT4. I think using a part used set would have you having your tyres go red before you finish the next lap!

Also locking up the brakes would be a realistic inclusion. If you come into a corner real late in the game you should be able to see the smoke from the breaks locking up and then adding to the tire thingo i said you would have a bald spot on the tire.

You've got a point there - both of you. I mean, having a limited amount of sets per championship sounds nice and challenging. But then again, the GT4 RSH tyres only last 4 laps of La Sarthe. I think real-life Racing tyres offer ~15 laps minimum... I mean, the tyres in GT4 lasted so shortly, that fuel-only stints weren't possible - the opposite did happen.

During the LeMans 24hr races I think most of the faster cars pit in every 7 or 8 laps for new tyre's.

Yeah they should really make the life of the tires last longer. Theres no way tyres run out so fast. But then again in real life races they arent as short (correct me if im wrong) as in GT4. I get bored even racing ten laps haha, if they made it more challenging it would be much much better.

Talking about pits, why dont they make the pits actually look like them not just garages. Im talking about sponsors and all the other things you see in the pits (lol i cant name any but surely there is more). Imagine its the final straight, last race of the tournament, and you see the pit crews yelling and cheering from the side...its these little things that would make it realistic.
I would also like to see cars more realisticly closer in the terms of speed and quickness around the track.

cars will pit ever 11-15 laps for fuel and change tires after 2 to four fuel stints.

Which would mean that even Group C racers like the Minolta, Jag XJR-9, and Merc C9 would make 20laps out of a set of tyres, at the very worst. All this, supposing the tyre is new, and not an old '90s tyre...

On topic:

I've said it before but say it again.
I want to see life in GT5 untill now the GT series was always so clean and mechanic, GT4 pitcrew and animated driver was a first step but it can more emotional with waving trees, birds, wheather changes, realistic crowds and other AI drivers and off course realistic damage.
How cool would it be that if they are rebuilding a track in real life you see it in GT5 been rebuild.Maybe a bad example but you understand!?
Or realtime wheather, so as it rains at the Nordschleife it rains in GT5.

With online community and track dating as KY calls it that would be the real "human element" ;)

What I've read so far on the internet and in the press conference of KY he has that in mind for GT5 so I hope it will be in GT5/HD.

  1. Aftermarket Parts.
  2. The ability to swap out stock engines for racing engines.
  3. body kits & exterior customization.
  4. Visual performance upgrades (for example, if you remove the interior panels of the car, add a role cage, you can be able to see them).
  5. Some interior customization (racing seats, gauges, electronics).
  6. I heard that PS3 is able to stream home audio, so why not make your own playlist that include your own songs?
  7. I hope that downloadable content they speak of is world wide & not just in the US, because I have a PS2 in Colombia, bought in the US, I can't connect myself to download maps & stuff here. but when I went to the US I saw it was downloading properly.
  8. Maybe some funny cars & hot rods.
  9. Drag Racing events.
  10. A storyline like starting from racing in the streets for money, to then become a lemans 24 Hour endurance champion.
  11. Dyno Tuning.
  12. The right to select between official factory parts or aftermarket brands.
  13. SPONSORS!
  14. Body damage when impact occurs.
  15. Online Racing for pink slips or car sale & exchange.
  16. Drifting & Downhill drifting events.

they need to have a "tuner village" for american cars, with companies like Roush, Shelby, Boyd Coddington, Chip Foose, etc. they could all have their own bodykits, engine parts, wheels, and so on.

I think that crash physics really need to be addressed but another big part of Gran Turismo are speed physics. The realism and simulation is great but going 150 and looking like your going about 50 is confusing at times. Body modding and sponsorships would be another great thing. I really feel that sponsorships and decals would make it seem like you were actually part of a career, not some random guy that decks out cars on his own time and beats the pros at their on game. I think it would be neat if sponsors could contact you and even offer to pay bonuses for races and even demos. These are some of the things I'd really like to see.

I have a new one. You know when you are buying every parts for your car? You have to go into a every single parts and select "buy", etc., etc. How about just check boxes, then select "buy"? I timed myself buying every possible upgrades for my car, one time. I believe it took around 4 minutes! :guilty: Waste of time.

Speaking of waste of time, for the third time, I think we should be able to swap cars at the tracks. I hate having to go back out of the track session, back to the garage, swap cars, then back out to the track.

I didn't think GT4 was that bad in this area (certainly better than GT3), but the ideal solution to a poor sense of speed is to allow the user to adjust it themselves (by allowing them to adjust the "field of view," measured in degrees).

The sense of speed is one of those subjective things that will vary from person to person, and even from TV to TV.

Ah, yes. Gran Turismo syndrome...

Game: "You have chosen 'Sport Exhaust.'"
Me: "Okay."
Game: "Would you like to purchase the 'Sport Exhaust?'"
Me: "Yes."
Game: "Are you sure?"
Me: "Yes."
Game: "$5000 will be subtracted from your credit total."
Me: "Okay."
Game: "Are you sure you want to buy the 'Sport Exhaust' for $5000?"
Me: "Yes."
Game: "After parts are purchased, you may choose to install them."
Me: "Okay."
Game: "Would you like to install the 'Sport Exhaust' on your current car?"
Me: "No, I was just going to hang it in my virtual garage and admire it...YES, I WANT TO INSTALL IT."
Game: "Are you sure?"
Me: "YES."
Game: "The 'Sport Exhaust' has been installed successfully."
Me: "THANK YOU."

Reply to post on how long it take to buy parts. I agree 100% on having a check out list. Buy parts add to check out list, okay transaction done.
All parts should be installed by default. Perhaps have a game setting feature to turn this off or on. I would also like to be able to buy groups of parts that are package together. For instance stage 1 tune up ( all level 1 parts etc. ), stage 2 tune up ( all level 2 parts etc. ) you get. Anyway you get the ideal quick way to buy performance packages. I would want option to buy all parts seperate or to buy packages.

I also really want a detailed spec sheet for each car that is modified as you upgrade you car. Listing all the parts that was bought. I also want to see at least the total cost of the car after parts are baught. For used cars, I would like to see a line or purchased miles and then miles added after purchased.
Perhaps at some point, doubt with GT5, but maybe GT6 you can basically set the miles back to zero after you upgrade so many parts or maybe they have option to buy new engine. A fact sheet for you cars. If we could customize the fact sheet, backgrounds, fonts, change locations of things. Print off fact sheet or use photomode to print off.

Actually with future version of GT, I would like as much customizable as possible. All menus, GT World, etc. Place the ICONS where you want, change font / text, change background music, just about everything. Then save your settings or save multiple settings, even share settings amongst players online.

Of course most of this is less important then getting the key critical features to be as good as possible and as flawless as possible. I think GT5 is headed in the direction where each person will maybe be able to more or less build their own version of GT5. A GT World that is truly your own.

Hey all.

I've searched for this so dont shoot me m'kay.

i agree with most that realistic smoke would be a huuuuge improvement.

Also the vehicle physics at speed...boosting up the HP on your four door tin top shopping trolley then sailing around the test course at 150 mph and not a hit of nervousness seems a little odd. Bone stock too.

A whiles back a local (aussie) car tuning shop tweaked a Ford Falcon XR6T and sent it hurtling down an airstrip at 300 plus k's an hour. Then test driver appropriately said that the ride was very very scary "the front end became real light and skatey at 230, then the whole car moved around waay too much when i punched through 270 then settled after 290. Lets have another go yeah!!!"

And of course the engine SOUNDS have gotta be TRUE, i mean i tuned up my monaro and i was amused at why it sounde like my 1.5 litre mitsi lancer ???

Gimme some real exhaust BARK!!! with good bass notes and very little high range whiney sounds except for the gilmer belt drives on my supercharged old school V8 muscle car.

REVO

Bring back the nissan drag cars too. And actually be able to RACE them without the mile long burnouts.

i dont think anyone has mentioned it but i would like to see an option on convertibles to put a top up or down, although most cars have better aerodynamics top up, i know of a few that are better with the top down, cars it would also be nice to see the option to purchase a hardtop for your convertible as that is an option on many cars in real life. on cars like the shelby cobra and the old viper rt10 (which might not be included in gt5) you cant even go above certain speeds with the top up so that should be taken into account as well:idea:

I think the main reason why GT4 convertibles had the top up during racing is graphical load - making the seats, dashboard, driver and everything is much heavier on the PS2 than just making a roof, with some lower-quality polygons and textures for the seats. Otherwise, imagine how hard it would be to render the whole Roadster cup... I think that's also why tops are down during single-car runs.

yeah i figured as much espeacially after finding out thats the reason for many of the speacial cars being speacial, polygon counts that are too high for other cars on the track, hopefully with ps3 that wont be a problem becuase im really tired of looking at the cobra's "toupee"

EDIT: and cars like the caterham even have provisions for a roof that isnt any worse than the cobras as far as looks go, i wonder why they still made it special
