I just created an open room 600pp takada clean on grand valley. if any of you feels like racing you are welcome

Do you have a leader ? :P

Actually I do.

I have great confidence doodle that you will enter 1.42s as well, very best of luck to you.:):):)

Thanks! I know it's possible, but it's extremely difficult. :)

Why, will you get grounded or something if you do?

What.... No! It's just that the setup is exclusive only to our team. If it wasn't, I'd share it publicly here. :(

Your top secret setup isn't so top secret....if you know what I mean. :sly:

I know what you mean :sly:

Couple of improvments, 1st a to 1.44.018 last evening, then in to the 43's with a 1.43.959 this afternoon. Jumped 7 places by improving by 0.06

Using the tune I posted earlier, but with full downforce and ARBs at 1 7.

I need to try full downforce it seems, Ridox2JZGTE's Mobil 1 NSX downforce and BHP rating seems interesting, hopefully it has enough torque too. Will give it a go and see if I can improve enough so it is harder for you to overtake me ;).

I wouldn't bother with the other cars.. I've tried them all now, and even though I can get much better power to weights on the 00 and 01 than the 03, they just aren't as fast for some reason.

Good luck 👍

There is big differences between the Takata Dome ones too. Tried the Mobil 1 with setup I was using on the higher Torque rated Takata Dome NSX I was using before but was losing too much time on exits so gave Ridox2JZGTE's gearing a go and improved a lot for that. This hopefully works well with Takata Dome's with less torque and more BHP so I can have same straightline speed and more downforce while having gearing that helps get the car into power band I like.

Good luck to you too 👍.

is your PSN from a bit of Fry and Laurie? if so, that's awesome.

Sorry to disappoint you, but no it is not, It is from the name of a favorite 90s record of mine for which you will find a youtube video of in the first link of my sig. [beware, it is hard and fast, just how I like to drive]

Anyway....

I have made a small improvement this evening, finally into the 1:45's albeit not by much with a .952 for now, but I may be able to improve on that some more over the next few days. :)

I did invalidate a .940 a few laps previous to that too, which would have gained me ten more places on the leaderboard. :banghead:

Current tune is on all shared NSX. ;)

Thanks to Ridox for taking the trouble to share the cars and deal with the FRs. I've now got my own Takata 03, kindly donated by a friend, and I've copied the "special top tune" onto it. It's a bit of a handful and I was tempted to lower the LSD settings after finding myself getting far too sideways when lifting off, but I stuck with it and am starting to get the hang of it. I'm nearly a second quicker with it than anything else I've tried. Down to 1:46.39 now and back in the top 1000 which is where I want to be.

What.... No! It's just that the setup is exclusive only to our team. If it wasn't, I'd share it publicly here. :(

I know what you mean :sly:
And what team is yours and what it takes to be part of it besides playing 14 hours a day? hahahahaha....

I know the answer to your question:idea:💡

Actually I do.

I'm just playing with you Andrew. But, I still know what your setup is. :sly: Its of no help to me anyways though as I almost always end up using my own. I seem to have a very unique driving style that only I can compensate for in my tuning. Guess it comes with me being mostly Swedish. :odd:

And will you get grounded Cargo if you spill the beans, even though you say Doodles set up is no help to you?

Lets face it, the tune is very important, however what's far more important is who is behind the wheel, or the controller as the case may be.

I recall some licence tests in the past which I never thought I could win and which took many many tries to do so.
Had I been able to change the tune on the car I likely would have, many times over, when all that was really required was determination, sticking to ones guns and learning from ones mistakes.

And there are so many drastically different tunes here for the Takata one could be excused for thinking we were sometimes talking about different cars.

Sharing ones tune here is ones own business, although it may be seen as a little petty when it comes to the big picture, but boasting that one knows someone else's special tune, and therefore having tried someone else's special tune, albeit without success, seems even more petty to me.
Of course it now goes without saying that you have been able to use many others 'special tunes' in the past, without advising us you were able to do that.
To me that is not petty, that knocks on the door of dishonesty.

No Dalone, I won't get grounded as I don't have to answer to anyone except the man upstairs. (God) But, I will respect doodles wishes and not give it out as it is not my place to do so.

EDIT: @Dalone: Just seen the rest of your post so let me further reply. I never said I actually used his tune. I only checked it out out of curiosity. I could tell just by looking at it that it would not fit my driving style anyway. Anyone that truly knows me, knows that I like to tune my own cars anyway, I don't need anyone to tune cars for me. To sit there and call me dishonest just because I am able to extract replay data is just ridiculous. I gain nothing from it other than satisfying my own curiosity, that is all. Sure, I have tried other peoples tunes in the past, but I always end up going back to my own. Therefore, 99.99% of the time, it is my own tuning that I rely on to get me to where I want to be. Unlike you, who lies in the weeds and waits for people to post their tunes or put their cars on share, I tune and use my own cars. Furthermore, I wasn't boasting about knowing Andrews tune, I was only messing with him because he said it was a secret tune. I even said as much. Sounds to me that you are either jealous or pissed because I know what his tune is, which is indeed petty on your part. So once again, you have taken something I said that was meant in a joking and light-hearted manner and turned it into something totally unnecessary. I have tried my hardest to get along with you Dalone but it seems that you just keep carrying around that axe to grind when it comes to me. You really need to let it go my friend.

Appears I need to get ahold of an 03 Takata Dome.

I'm at 1:46.9, 1090th place, using the Raybrig NSX. Definitely got some room to improve, but I think only about a second with this car. You guys in the 1:43's and 1:44's are very impressive.

I'm quite happy with the handling of the Raybrig at the moment, I think it's more lack of driver skill and consistency at this point.

got a 1:44.1 with stottys tune and lower camber, the rest of the time is down to the drifting that i can't master thats required to get a better turn in.

Seems you're always 'just messing' with someone or other Cargo but don't it take too kindly when someone messes with you.
Big girls blouse time?
And this from you;
"Unlike you, who lies in the weeds and waits for people to post their tunes or put their cars on share, I tune and use my own cars. "
Lies in the weeds? Ha ha, seeing as we have tuning forums here specifically to, da da, tune cars, yet you are suggesting no one should avail themselves of them?
And yes, I too borrow cars (like yourself) and try them, however always find I do better when I adjust a tune to my liking. But I too have loaner cars available, my Takata was also available until the other day when I again tried it but found it not as competitive as the 3rd stage engine ones, mine has the high range turbo.
Finally, of course it's true that most of us can't spend as much time driving as we may like to due to the usual reasons, having a life away from GT5 is one, so therefore I don't think it's too much to expect that those who do spend a great deal of time here, for whatever reasons, share the knowledge they have gained over the years. We all had to start on the bottom rung at some time.
When it is all boiled down it is just a game and the only prizes are our personal satisfaction at our result, looking at it that way makes it seem petty indeed to withhold information which may help others better themselves. And you have seen many times when I have shared specific info here to help others, just as a great many (yourself included) people do.
Anyway, I retract nothing I said and I don't believe for a minute that you don't use bits and pieces (or all) of tunes you have lifted from the top place getters.

Shall I post all the top 5 rank tunes so there won't be this kind of argument again ? :P I won't mention which is which, everyone can try them and find out which suits them better, no one gets offended as no one know which tune is which but themselves ( top 5 )

Sounds like a plan! One that I could live with. It would allow everyone to cherry pick the tunes rather than just those who have more knowledge of how things work on PS3.

Having said that, I actually feel that one's private tunes should remain private if that is what one wishes, however as they obviously cannot remain private I reckon we should ALL be able to have a peek at them.
The balls in your court Ridox.

Seriously dude, give it a rest. Now you are calling me a liar? I don't cherry pick or steal anyones tunes my dear friend. I don't need your crap dalone. You're also now taking a shot at me just because I have more time to spend on the game because of a situation that life has dealt me. Unbelievable. You have taken your last shot at me there ol' boy. I simply don't need your drama. Go start your crap with someone else, I'm done here.

We all have our cross to bear son, you're not alone there.
As for why you would go to the trouble of lifting peoples private tunes, boast about it, all the while claiming you never so much as even copied a camber once in a while, sounds dodgy to me.

And congrats Stewy, I am currently using pmjg's loaner but with some of your (and mine) tune on it.

Cargo said -I'm done here.

I hope by "done here" means you are giving up on this particular thread, rather than GTPlanet all together, as it would be a shame to lose you. I for one have followed these pages for years and look up to you as one of the driving gods of Grand Turismo.

I used to think I was reasonably good at this game, having completed all of the seasonals twice (I've got two accounts) and I've golded all of the licence tests, but after 30-40 attempts on this time test, I have only just managed to get the gold, and I'm still 9 seconds or more away from the best of you. So regardless of whether the tunes are your own or part of somebody elses, you can still turn them into fast laps, time and time again, which is something I'm not so consistant at.

I appreciate all of the tuning posts on this forum, as well as people lending me their cars (thanks Riddox) and I will continue to improve my times.

Let's park these difference of opinions and get down to business, I think you and Dalone are great characters, so cheers to the both of you.

Now I'm at 1.45.1 everything done only with small improvements.

This track is quite long and it has a lot of very fast and long corners. What I discovered is that in order to keep high speed for as long as possible, on entry, you have to use a very powerful brake on the front wheels with a small brake on the rear ones. I use now BB 7/5. (that's for DS3 users)
Let's say corner 14, the long 3rd gear right in the last tunnel, you must let off the brakes as soon as possible to keep some of that high speed before you start putting on gas again. The thing is that with a BB of 6/4 or 6/5 or 7/5 when you let off the brakes the car tends to oversteer because of the hard braking rear wheels. Letting off the brakes very quickly will keep the car from twisting but letting them slower, trail braking, will get you way faster.
Another interesting thing about this TT is that there is a very big difference between the driving styles of the first pilots. This tells us that the lap can be done way way faster here, I think....

3 cars done ( complete tune ), the varied tune between some of the cars is interesting, and yet their lap time are so close and watching the replays closely, I see one of the driver with more laps and maybe better tune have a great chance of beating current number 1  Power and weight might be the decisive factor after all.

Scary thing is the gearing trick used and some gear ratio are identical.

I'll do the rest of the top 5 later.

All 3 have max downforce, some rear ward ballast and power limiter.

Hi new to GTP great forum at this moment i am 1.45 950 in TT the only way i can get into the low 1.42 is in practise mode with SRF & RS tyres lol will be 69 in 3 weeks time would like to thank Ridox2JZGTE for the muir in the last TT and thanks for all the tunes & advice

I noticed the top drivers are not gearing down to 1st at any point during their lap, I'm still flipping that extra gear a couple of times subconsciously but i gained 3 10ths from not dropping to first in the last S's and into the tunnel.
