I have one on share that I put up last night. There's a 2:32 possible with it. :)

Are you using the same setup you posted earlier?

...

Probably a DS3 thing but real throttle sensitive .. Made some changes after a few attempts (...more like hairpin than in lol) then after the 1st full lap was able to manage a 2:44.479. I was pleased to at least get Gold after the 1st lap. I don't have the DLC, so my only other event here was the Ferrarri Formula Challenge in the F10. GREAT place, fast w/ some tricky areas...

Definitely need some work to get the power to the ground. yeah, throttle control is key, but the horse can be tamed!

...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Edit/Update: 2:41.624

Well, I have had a good run at it today, started the session using doodles tune [bar the gear ratio] but it has slowly morphed into something else that suits me better and is a little easier to drive with a DS3. [have updated the shared NSX with said tune]

currently on a 2:36.314 with a very messy exit from turn 1 and messy exits in the last few turns of the 2nd sector so i'm sure I can grab some more time there if I am careful enough.

Sorry to post in this particular thread, but my question is aimed at all Time Trials.

In the Suzuka Time Trial, there were 52,638 results, out of those results, 400 were using 200 degree steering wheels, and 9813 were using 900 degree steering wheels, (the balance were PS3 pad/sticks etc)

Stewyripper and I were in the top 4 out of the 200 degree club, (well done mate) but as far as I'm concerned, I'm not gloating with my time, because I was some way behind Stewy and a lot of you other regulars, but I'm questioning why there are so many people using the 900 degree steering wheels, are they now the norm, or do the more serious gamers prefer them ? do they help with better lap times in the right hands ?

Thanks
Hello everyone I'm quite new to GT5 and PS but the chance to race for Nissan got me into playing video's last time I played a video game was 10 years ago. So when I wanted to compete in 2013 academy I bought the a 900 degree 1080 degrees [meaning it is capable to do 3 full steering wheel turns to the left or to the right] wheel but the 900 1080 degree setup you don't use for racing, as far as I know only for truck driving simulation. For racing even 360 is too much. On fast track I would say 270 degrees 135 degrees is too much. I noticed that during the Academy 2013 some guys had very fast moves with their steering-wheel according to me their setup was probably less than 250 degrees 180degrees. The less degrees the bigger the movement will be. I m a bit English challenged but I hope you understand. Not to confuse this with setup of sensitivity, that's another thing.

To explain it differently lets say you set up your 900 wheel or your 1080 degrees wheel to 360 degrees. You will have to turn more at your wheel to make the wheel turn to the maximum on the steering wheel of your car in the game, than if you had lets say 200 degree setup. And if you want to make very fast moves you better set it up to lower degrees because higher setup will take a fraction longer to make a move complete, meaning loss of time.

So if someone is using a 900 wheel it doesn't mean he is racing with 900 degree setup up. It just means the wheel is capable to do a 900 degree move. And Im pretty sure they race with 360 degree setup or less.

The setup to 360 degrees is very slow some guys that don't know that you can set it up lower think that their wheel is lagging, it isn't lagging its just the set up to higher degrees that does that. I would think a 200 degree setup can be pretty good, unfortunately, the wheel I have has a situation with GT5 and the lowest I can use is 270 degrees 135 degrees but I think Im quite ok with it at the moment. But I am curious how it would react at 250 100 degrees or less. ON fast moves left right less is better. But on corners where you have to be gentle and don't move your wheel too much; in example like in corer 15 in suzuka (that fast corner before the triangle) if you have a very low setup for example to 135 degrees. than it can be tricky to turn gentle because even a little move is a lot of degrees in the steering wheel on the car in the game.

I used a GTR LM (Road Going Version) and got gold by .400. I don't tune much, so I left the car stock (besides maxing out the aero. )

Slightly unrelated, but the HF Integrale is great for the drift challenge. Sitting at 419th for now. :)

Guys, remove all or almost all ballast from the car! I just took it all off and straight away did a 2:32.7!
I second this approach, full aero and no ballast = 2:33.762.

Thinking I can find another second at least. Key for me is smooth on the brakes and feed in the throttle as early as possible.

Will be trying this tomorrow

I generally wouldn't recommend high -ve rear toe for RWD cars as it tends to limit exit speed... unless the car has perfect traction and/or suffers from horrendous understeer.

For RWD, neutral to slight positive (0.00 to +0.10) tends to work better, using other settings (such as ballast/camber/aero/LSD) to get the entry rotation.

Rear toe is one of the settings that really affects the balance of a car and you only really need extreme rear toe settings (outside -0.10 to +0.10 range) for cars with serious handling issues (like the Civic ;)).

Thanks for that Stotty, I guess it was my skill alone which saw me improve then. I can live with that, ha ha. I'll bring the neg toe up to the 0.00 to +0.10 range.

Doodles quick tune seems to have helped a lot of people, myself included, but I feel there is more to do yet before we settle on a tune everyone likes. Early days yet.

Thanks MacDog! The NSX LM is so much better than the Ferrari 458 I was using.

I was stuck at 2:41.1 with the 458, then on my 3rd lap with the NSX LM I got a 2:39.2. Now I'll try some of the different settings that everybody is posting.

Nice times Fabian, Bandit. I'm out of town until Saturday night so I won't be able to put in a top 10 run until then. Spa is one of my weaker tracks so I'll be happy with at least a top 15 at the end. Though I'll be all over GT6 at that time. :)

Finding my magic now, down to 2'35.246. Looks like my biggest fan has some catching up to do, over 3 seconds behind.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: (Oops, there goes that damn sticky smiley button again. :sly:) Guess I should look into fixing that sometime soon. :P

Put this tune together to be stable/controllable with the ds3, using dalone's nsx (thanks). Pulled off a 2:36:958, feel like theres still room to improve.

Ride height: -20/-20
Spring rt: 17.7/18.5
Ext/comp: 7/7
Roll bars: 4/4
Camb: 2.8/3
Toe -0.05/0.02

Lsd: 5/7/5
Dwn. Frc.: 35/60
Brakes: 8/8

Ballast: 120/-27
Pwr: 86.9%

Tran: (mostly just "flipped" it)
1st: 4.917
2nd: 3.606
3rd: 2.911
4th: 2.416
5th: 2.051
6th: 1.741
Final: 3.093

Its fairly well planted but still a little tail happy under power/exits. Thinking it could be faster with the power oversteer tweaked out a bit more.

No probs, I'll gift it to you when I finish work.

OK, just started with a brand new car, painted it blue, with no 3rd stage engine upgrade and used Perro's (#76) tune and JJG's gears.

Completed one lap and improved from 2:38.2 to 2:37.3. Down to 2 sec's behind cargo ;).

More later, busy with family now.

Ha ha, I have just corrected my times....2:38.2 down to 2:37.3. And how come all you blokes have sticky fingers?

Wait, don't answer that.

What is the best way to stop the rear end of the Honda NSX-R Prototype LM Road Car from going around or is it to using to much throttle. Thanks

Didn't see your mistake, but I assume it stems from WTS. (Wishful Thinking Syndrome):lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Sorry, still need to fix that sticky button. :sly: As for the sticky buttons....yea well, no comment. :P
