How do you handle the shift down with this car, particulary at T1?
Personally at T1 and before the bus stop chicane I control the car first and then downshift, so late downshifts. Rest of the lap as normal, downshift to 2nd sometimes for rotation on sharper corners and get on the power early for a bit of oversteer and then change up into 3rd.

Pretty frustrating session this morning, still trying to figure out a consistent entry into turn 1. I think I have it pretty much down now but as I'm focusing on it the rest of the lap is just 'get through it' so no solid lap so far. Down to 1:52.867 with optimum into the 1:51.xxx's. I've noticed that there is no real benefit to crossing the start line/into turn 1 at top speed, just 10-15mph less doesn't really seem to effect my time come exit and usually I'm within a car length of the WR shadow - my advice to anyone struggling is coast from before the start line, keep left by the yellow line and brake in a straight line to get the car stable and nicely slowed down, then turn in with some modulated braking into the apex and then power out in third on the exit. It's easy to be that consistent that way and it's not particularly slow. Bus stop chicane is similar, brake earlier than normal and get through the first half; then concentrate on getting the power down early and a clean exit. Saying is easier than doing though; I've lost control quite a few times already doing both!

Practice makes perfect though, I am enjoying the grind (sort of). Hoping for mid to low 1:51's by the end of this TT

I tried the NSX for the Tokyo 600pp grind long ago and hated it. I and the computer controlling the drivetrain could NOT agree on what we wanted the car to do. The NSX was mid-engine until it wasn't, and then 4wd... until it wasn't.

But as much as I dislike this car and hate to admit it, the braking instability at turn 1 and the bus stop aren't inherent to the NSX - I tested a bunch of other cars, including some of my tuned anti-oversteering 600pp abominations. They showed varying degrees of the same behavior. The behavior is more glaring in the NSX perhaps because the NSX is overweight and floppy.

This is a track and physics thing, and our job this TT is figuring out driving style workarounds for Daytona Road Course being a terrible place to run road cars

Counter Steer Assist on either weak or strong didn't work for me. Having full or near full throttle while braking just made my times worse. I accepted the suckage and started driving around the issue with flicks of corrective steering. Delaying downshifts helped though. This all feels kinda dumb, but I'm managing.

Weirdly, I still gold in my first session with a 1:51.9xx.

All the "easy" gains are gone for me though. Everything faster has been a full on, mentally exhausting grind.

Current best time:

1:51.689

After saying all that about car and track, would you believe that I'm only just "meh" about this TT?

I STILL hate Fuji, Nurb GP and the Corvette c7 zr1 more by an order of magnitude.

It was also my 17th gold. That gold streak will be put to the test as I have only 2 evenings to try and set a gold for TT18 that will hold to the end, before being away for over 2 weeks. Here's hoping it is not too difficult a one.
Well, that is me off on holiday now. Managed a 1:50.900 (currently #188) which should hold for gold. Good luck all. I should still be able to post the mid-TT and end-TT stats while I'm away.

1.53.4xx
at my first serious session.
In the end I improved by learning how to brake this car and resisting the impulse to throw my controller straight into my flat after messing up the first corner three times in a row.
My guess here is gold is at least behind a 1.52.5xx to be safe more like a 1.51.xxx
Not sure my journey continues I like Daytona but the combo here is definitely not love at first sight.

Got a mid 52 lap in and would be happy to leave it at that if I could be sure of gold. Just not sure if it will be enough. Will the top guys find another half a second?

Always hard to tell with these road cars, especially when some of the big guys like Gallo, sirvia and kajracer are right behind the number 1 spot and could decide to push for it. Might just try to get into the 51s while Im at it. So I don't have to go back to it in 10 days

Finally learning the bus stop and improved my previous time by just under 0,3 sec. Currently p25 with 1:50,298. That '49 would be sweet!

You are absolutely killing it lately, mate! On top of my friend's list in every race and TT lately. Really impressive.

So... I just got suspicious that you've let me win on purpose two weeks ago with the Sileightys in Suzuka? :D

Myself, I've just made it to 1:51:3, which will be enough for gold, but the 1:50s seem unattainable for me. Still happy with that time, though.🍻

I, for one, am enjoying this combo. This despite flying off track in turn 1 right off the bat. This car felt so...odd...after being so used to the ID R. I love how it handles on acceleration.

1:52.065 with loads of time to improve considering my ideal lap was a 1:51.344 and it was only day one (for me). Turn 1 wasn't so bad once I learned a better braking technique there. I'm having more issues with the chicane. I was up over half a second on my best when I completely jacked it up. :ouch:

Excited to give it another go tomorrow after watching the tutorial videos.

Thanks man! I've spent A LOT of time time-trialing recently. Over 2000km just for this TT so far.

And no.. I gave my everything at Suzuka two weeks ago 😁 I didn't have Sileighty tho. Had to go with a dealer S15 Aero which was no match for your Sileighty.

PD maybe can see that beside being "the real driving simulator" Gran Turismo is also a game that most of the people are supposed to enjoy, but I read a lot of people just disliking this TT.

I got gold but unfortunately a challenge I just don't enjoy. I just don't like poor grip and stability.

TT's are so exciting as everyone can compete with each other all around the world. It also lets us know where we stand when it comes to driving ability.

I like car & find the track okayish but I hate sports tires. As worthless as comfort ones.

Ok, here is my video of my first run, eight laps, it's twenty minutes long. Well I'm a second off silver. I feel more comfortable with this one as opposed to the Nordschleife NSX challenge, that was 20 times harder. That first left turn is a pain, I feel it's killing my time because I'm afraid if I go too fast, chances are i'll hit the barrier.

I wish it was a little more stable and see we can't tune it this time. However I slightly decreased my time as I ran each lap, so that gives me a good sign that I will earn gold soon. I watched Nebu's ghost and he got in the 1'50.000 club. So, what can I do to improve, and what landmarks can help me figure out the right braking points?
