If you look for youtube guides just ensure you use the same view or look at the braking point with their view and traslate it to your view. The perspective may be deceiving and here braking late kills your time. I went from 54.0x to 53.6x just realizing it
Good point. I like to look at chase cam footage to get a better feel of where people are braking in relation to the track, but I drive in cockpit and have noticed it can be a bit difficult transcribing between the two. But even without getting the point exactly, just getting in the right ballpark helps, especially on a course I'm quite unfamiliar with (like this one). Just knowing what gears people are using through corners has cut my lap times by more than a second on previous TT's; sometimes hard to realize how much speed is being shed taking a corner in 3rd rather than 4th, for example. But yes, good advice.

Thank you to this thread and all that gave me advice though. From said advice via replies and reading back through the thread I shaved over 2 seconds on the second lap this evening! From a 1:56.6xx to 1:54.3xx, and I've since gotten it down to 1:53.9xx. So my approach was way off from get-go... From watching the replays I'm still braking too early into the first corner and braking a tad too late on the left-hander that enters back onto the oval about 1/2 way through. I might not be able to gold this one, but I've not hit my skill ceiling and am confidant I'll get into the 1:52's, it's just a matter of putting it all together. Glad I asked rather than just repeating the same mistakes or settling for bronze!

First definitely use Countersteering strong, that will help! Secondly, try building up speed on entry; if I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, I don’t think you need top speed over the start line to set a competitive time, I’ve been in the mid 1:51’s even with a 1 second penalty on the lap before; the breaking point for turn 1 is so soon after the line it makes little difference and just makes the car more unstable under braking (for us mortals)

Try at 150mph and braking on the left hand side of the track, get the car straight and brake in a straight line and then when the car is well under 100mph/160ph gently turn it in/let off brakes. It might not be mega quick but a good one will only lose you maybe .300s off the record and it’ll be much more repeatable.

Decent session for me tonight consistentish laps and a new record, I was on for a 1:50.xxx but got a little wayward in the bus stop! Dang! But definitely doable. CS strong is staying.. looking at the record lap replays a lot of the top times are set without but they are doing some really funky **** with downshifts that a real car wouldn’t do so I would consider that an ‘assist’, my lap is much smoother with sensible downshifts so I like the compromise

We keep going for 1:50!!! @Gomario JSP how are you getting on?

That is a great time, almost there!, congrats!, I haven't got much time to realy have a long stint so I'm not there yet 🤣
This weekend I'm going to eat the 51 😁🤣🤣

I hope...... 🤣

I'm having an extremely hard time breaking into silver on this TT. 156.653 is the best I've been able to manage, and I know where I'm losing 2-4 seconds: Turn 1. This really should have been a tuning-allowed TT in this car/course combo, but whatever... My "strategy" for this corner is to just lock-up the brakes/e-brake and hope for the best, lol. I'm at least 80-100 laps in, so I think it's time for a different approach, lol.

Any suggestions on brake-points, more specifically, where on the track (closer to the wall or closer to curve) the optimum place to brake is? I've tried using TC and ASM as stated by others and I can't get under 1:57 using them. Seems like I get through turn 1 a little better, but the assists start to shed time everywhere else for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I'm kind of at an impasse.
A tip for T1. You definitely have to brake in a straight line, but I know it is not that easy when the track slightly turns at the braking point. I find the best way to get the car straight is to lift the throttle just before you are supposed to brake, and then turn just a little, until the car is straight, before braking.

I still don't have an understanding of the track limits at the bus stop.
Sometimes I don't understand why I don't get penalized, sometimes I don't understand why I do.
Even looking at replays, btw
True, seems kind of random sometimes, most of the time when i have a bad lap I yeeet it thru the busstop sometimes thinking why the h*ll i don't get a penalty, it's not the case of "if one wheel is slightly on the grey area that you are fine...

Slightly improved from 1.52.751 to 1.52.592 ….optimal is 1.51.9xx.
Still can’t put all the pieces together but I guess it looks promising
I will monitor the coming weekend and hope there are no 👽👽👽 sightings 🙏🏻

Very late into this TT.
It seems easier, but it's one of my favourite tracks, so...

First I did 52.8 with penalty (driving with ds4 and AT, no assists)
Then after a tons of laps 52.7 without penalty
Two tons of laps later 52.6 with very messy first sector (damn braking into t1)

Finally just now, I did manage to string a half decent lap with good bus stop exit for 1:52.250

The game is very liberal when it comes to "bus stop" (chicane) exit track boundaries. I was all four wheels inside solid white line and got away unpunished. Guys at WRS Time Trials would've red flagged me for that :redflag:.

51 is in the optimal, so will give it a try again.

Yeah, with that car I know I SHOULD be braking in a straight line, but couldn't really find that line (hence why I was blipping the e-brake just hoping it would rotate me just enough to have that straight brake-line)

I will definitely try that tonight. I ended up at a 1:53.8xx before going bed last night, so the time is slowly coming down. I think I'm finding more on those two hairpins/switchbacks (180 degree) than I thought I was losing at those turns.

When I get home this evening I'm just going to practice turn 1 until I find the right line. Pretty sure I know exactly what you're getting at with the throttle-lift, so I just need to get it in the right spot. Thinking I've got a low gold in me at this point, so I'm making a run for low 1:52's tonight (unless gold time has shifted...)

Man, this has been a tough one for me. I'm usually on the border between gold/silver (2.5-3.5%) after the first few days, and I've not even momentarily been in gold range on this one. But I don't really like that NSX, and this is the first real event I've done at this track since GT7 launched, so it's not a great combo for me.

Same here, I didn't like this car/track combo, but CS weak helps, also realising that this car literally handles lie a boat, helps too, but now I can't help drifting especially into T1 .

Quick late night session for me after a couple of glasses of wine. The quest for 1:50.xxx continued and I got a 1:51.018 PB, both pleasing and annoying (not to mention frustrating knowing for 30 seconds that your time won’t be enough before you cross the line). I did a few more laps with mixed results and was about to give up.

Decided on one more lap despite tiring and completely overcooked it into turn 1, limbs everywhere and the car was very very sideways. Somehow miraculously I came out the other side within a tenth of my PB so cracked on and put in a worldie second half of a lap. 1:50.957! That’s goal achieved but also as always makes me realise there’s more time to be gained. Optimum was mid 1:50’s so I guess next milestone is trying to beat my previous record of 395th at end of TT.

Note to self: drive after wine more.

One thing I noticed I might be missing out on, when are people shifting (especially 6th to 7th)? Early or rev limiter?

Nice work man! That was a lovely clean lap, but it's not quiiiiiiite good enough is it?

Good luck getting into the magical 50's, should be pretty easy from here. One place I reckon you can make a good chunk of time is turn 6 (?), the slow left hander. I've noticed the WR lappers go very wide on the right there, two wheels on the grass/service road. The brake at a similar place to you (where some other bit of track goes to the right) but I think they get a better turn in and on the power sooner for that long straight up to the bus stop chicane. I'm guessing that'll get you two tenths easy, beat my time and make me incredibly jealous!:scared:

Day off for me, if I see @Gomario JSP has beaten my time I will jump on again tomorrow evening

🤣🤣 it is not indeed 🤣 I'm happy with my time and I'm not complaining, but satisfied.....naah 🤣

Thanks for the tip, im going to try my best! And will try to unstuck my brain to get another line thru 6 🤣

We will meet again 🤣

Long session today, over 40 laps and nothing sticks.
I bettered every single sector of that track... but not in the same lap.

Very close to calling it a day I managed very good braking for t1 and decided to go for it.
I was levelled with my ghost on the way to "bus stop" and finally a spot on execution, 0,004 off my record! Just another 21 seconds to bring it home.
At last into 51 territory!

Optimal still some half a second down.

Hi,

@tmtk...

I am having the exact same problem here. Chasing my ghost. Chasing the ghost of Mistah_MCA - Hello Mistah! :-)
I simply cannot string a perfect lap together. This last session, I was almost .5s up on my best, heading toward a 1:50:xxx then fluffed the blasted bus stop! More wailing and gnashing of teeth - At least I did not scare the dogs this time.
1:51:409 now and I think it will have to stay at that.

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Literally exactly the same 😁

Oh boy what Sunday morning session, 8 laps, penalty on 7 out of those 8 laps, one lap without penalty and PB haha..
Definitely not my type of challenge, so if any of you master's of this TT can watch video of my lap and maybe see where I can get half a second, thanks in advance. OPT is 1:51:100 but whenever I have good first half of lap, bus stop give me at least a 0:500 ticket haha

Quick 10 minute session today.. Oh my goodness, I didn’t just improve on my PB, I SMASHED INTO ANOTHER DIMENSION. 1:50.650/248th rn/+0.94%. In the holy grail of within 1% of the WR but will it last!? It was a lovely clean lap too, no shenanigans.. or wine! Only preworkout . This time was powered by caffeine.

Holy cr*p, that's awesome!, I tried today for an hour but it just wasn't there, numerous laps of 51.2......51.1.... but the hopeful 50's were not achievable.

Congrats on that insane (sober) setted lap 🤣
I can safely say..... you win!, great job!

🙏
