Thanks Gomario!

So I will just have to lower my sector one times in order to secure gold.
I find using 3rd gear through turn one makes the car more stable, but i will try the second gear as in your lap.
Turn 4 is always a gamble
I seen from your replay how you hug the inside and then smooth throttle input, flat out in one swift motion. If i can nail this, I think i will be golden!
I think you do indeed, like i said, def not a bad lap!, you will get there no doubt! get that gold! :)

Here is my lap of 1:42:377

I struggle with these two turns:
Last right hand turn of sector 2 and the second last right hand turn of sector 3 (where the cones are). For the life of me, I cannot replicate these turns as I have done in this lap.

Looking forward to analysis and tips. Cheers guys!!

I am using BRZ for this TT so what I am going to say might actually not be 100% true since you are using different car than me, but I think you can in general start acceleration out of turns a tiny bit earlier then you do. But someone who drive same car can confirm if what I am saying actually work on your car or not?
Other than that pretty ok lap, try to catch some apex a bit tighter.

911 is a mystery, I literally can't take a single corner properly. And I've driven the soul out of this car in daily races, but on this track it just doesn't work for me. Sliding sideways for no reason at all, against all physics logic, and understeers like a pig on throttle.
Well well well..

I think I tamed it, the key for me was just not to over-drive it and already after couple of laps I managed to improve my time. 1:41.0 is definitely possible and I will push hard (but not too hard) to achieve that :D

Ive tried the Subaru for a few laps and just could not get to grips with it. A car I feel that has some potential is the Renault RS01.
The Porsche has tons of grip and I'm sure it can handle some more acceleration out of the turns. Will try this as well.
The issue I find with the Porsche is the under steer. It can be weird some times, but once you get it in rhythm, it makes for a satisfying drive.

Nice time, indeed 40's are possible if only i have a clean lap with the RSR  i wil try to the end haha if i have time :boggled:
but once you get the hang of the 911 it is a pleasure to drive

So, are Porsche, Jag and BRZ still the ones to try? I have only little time but maybe want to try gold this time.
I've seen the following cars posted as gold:

911 RSR
RX-VISION
Jag F-Type
Lamborghini Huracan
Subaru BRZ
Renault R.S.01
Aston Vantage
Mclaren 650S

I'd say the majority of cars are capable of a gold, it's just the 911 and BRZ appear to be the most capable!

Oh, and I'm confident the Honda NSX can do it to. My optimal time in it last night was 2 tenths off gold, and I'm not fast...

@half_sourly mate have you got enough of vacation, beers, skiing, sunbathing 😁 ? We miss you here, hit us with some good numbers, example anything under 1:40:*** 😊 you don't want to miss Catalunya no chicane layout, don't you?

I've also put the DBR9 and both GT500 cars into Gold - I'd say it's likely everything has an achievable gold except probably the Peugeot and Volkswagen VGTs because they suuuck.

Well yesterday I borrowed a G29 from a friend of mine and attached (sort of) the damn thing on a very unstable table with the pedals loose on the floor. And, after a couple of hours, managed to record a 1:41.8xx. So we are talking about an improvement of almost 3s from my previous best with the Dualsense controller.
I know that there is some time to find, I just don’t know where 😅

Travelling home now. Can't wait to have a go at this one; I've never done Catalunya without the chicane.

With the RSR I was able to achieve a 40.8 after about 5hours total spread over 4 days, making small consistent gains, but I had to work hard at it before I was able to figure out how to find more time midway through the experience.

Yesterday I was able to achieve the same time with the Mclaren(*650S) after only 3 laps right after! Very easy car to figure out: very neutral, very predictable. So if you're missing a few tenths for gold with the RSR, then pick up the McLaren right after and everything will come easy.

*update: easy to be fast right away with the Huracan as well, easy to point and shoot and very predictable.

Tried the Renault RS01 for the 1st time and got to .3 of my Porsche PB after 5 laps. This car responds very very well to inputs and is easy to place on the track and to correct, albeit a little more twitchy than the McLaren at the very edge but you can be agressive with it. Very fast and well balanced. A blast to drive!

*update: was able to gold with the Alpha within 10 laps but it's not as fast, at least in my hands and took me a little more of getting used to. Car pivots unbelievably well in slow corners compared to the RSR or Ford GT and is easy to toss but requires you to work the gearbox more than other cars a bit like the RS01, but it's noticeably slower.

The Z4 drives very similar to the 911 in many respects on this track and pushes just a little less on full throttle on exit.

Tried two 5 laps stints with the BRZ, car is on rails! has tons of downforce and is very easy to push hard so I can see why many achieve great success with it. But it didn't really do it for me. I'd have to put more time and push hard to achieve the same times.

For the fun of it so far I've tried 5 laps stints afterwards with the following: 458(gearing!), Ford GT,* McLaren F1(too much added weight!! 3 sec off PB) *Nismo '13, *Supra '18, *SLS (1sec off PB), *AMG GT (3/4 sec off), *DBR9(1.5 sec off PB) and to different extents I wasn't able to achieve similar results either as they may require more time behind the wheel or skills.

I'll update this post if I find enough time to do more and try some other cars, if I find anything relevant.

*got back to the RSR after each 3-4 cars just to compare and make sure it wasn't the driver getting tired or something...and within 3 laps, I was inside 2/10 from my PB every time.

*Had a blast! Time to take a break now, got a plane to catch later tonight! See you guys in the next TT in about 10 days I guess 👍

I think there are two McLaren cars. Which one you used to get 1:40:8**?

i assume they mean the 650S, because the other one has been more or less unusable (if you want to drive fast) in BOP since day 1.

i mean, i appreciate them nuking any idea of 'pay to play' by making the car weaker.... but it feels like there isnt a single person at PD has ever driven the car at the BOP settings. there are some uphill corner exits where the car completely dies.

Well well well! After a couple of hours of tortuous setup, I have a DD wheel and load cell brake pedal! I've been messing with settings so far and have gone for a firm brake pedal so getting used to the lack of travel will be fun.. I am already seeing a massive difference though WOW what a system! I can definitely see the advantage of load cell brakes on trail braking/25-75% braking. Sheesh. I've set a 1:41.393 so far so not harming my times too much and man am I having fun!!

Watch this space for more

Took a couple days off, so I was rusty today. It took some time, but I finally managed a clean lap and dropped half a second off my previous best. There's still more in it. Nipped @Dan_Tes by .001. Sorry, buddy...

Aaand in that session, I have ended up bettering your time…. By 0.002 seconds @Dolph Drago! 😂

Bettering myself by 0.003 seconds was an hour well spent in my opinion 😇😁

OK I’m sold, DD and load cell are AMAZING! I am having so much more fun AND IM GOING QUICKLY!! Mission accomplished time wise, the question is do I stick with the 911RSR or do I try one of the other cars (I’m looking at you, BRZ)? Hmmmmm

@Dolph Drago @Gomario JSP Join me in the 1:40s boys!! 😎
Oh boy, now we have to realy get going, I'll try to find some time and join you 😁
Great time Dan!, congrats!

What do you think the gold cutoff time will be on this TT. I'm at a 1:42.2. I know I have a 1:41.7ish somewhere but I'm not sure I'll get better than that.

The Dodge Compensator Viper SRT GT3-R can get gold too. Lots more time to find.

1:41.9xx

Tons of low end grunt and very stable under power. Some push on full throttle, but not as pronounced as the Porsche at low / mid speeds. Stable on throttle lift and under heavy braking. Either the brakes are very good, or I'm getting better at judging the braking zones. I struggled to find the braking zone at turn 1, BUT I was braking surprisingly deep into turn 4 (first hairpin).

Worst issue with the car I had was high speed push / understeer under full throttle. I picked up a million penalties for going too wide everywhere, but mostly on the high speed corners.

Overall, the Viper shames a lot of FR cars when it comes to properly putting the power down.

My first video, yay!

My gut feeling is that the fastest time won't reduce that much; It's a well known track with (largely) well known cars so the fastest drivers will already have been pretty familiar. I reckon it will be just under 1:42 for Gold.

Dan, we are all not competing against the gold time anymore, it's you man, it's your damn 40's we are after
Yes, sure, I myself will also go chase him!!!!

Here is the schematic of my plan:

Upgrade livery once more with a more fashioned look

If it's not enough update the wheel with a DD one

If it's still not enough update the driver with someone more skilled

Since time to delivery is just 7 days, I'll probably go direclty to action C
