For this fortnight's mid-TT stats I thought I'd investigate the 'Time-Trial-Discussion-thread-reader' advantage. Where TTs do not allow tuning, every driver is on equal footing* with all other drivers, but where tuning is allowed, I hypothesise that there is a benefit to being a regular reader of this thread.

The investigation will take a driver's average finishing position (by percentile to account for different quantum of participants across different TTs; removing the worst one result as an outlier) and compare that to the current position (percentile again) of the driver in the current TT. I will include my own and am hoping to include some other regulars.

Therefore, let me know if I may use your statistics - they are available publicly, but I guess I am processing them, so prefer to have your permission. People I had in mind are below; feel free to add your name if I missed you off.
  • If you are okay for ne to use your statistics, please provide your GT7 NICKNAME (not PS username)
  • If your username is not unique, I won't be able to include your results (I wouldn't know which of ten John Does you are as I have only nicknames in my dataset, not unique IDs)

Here is my setup take on this event.

I managed to get a 1.28.391. I'm still trying to figure out how to improve my sector 2 since I'm losing almost 1 second to the top1... I dont know if the problem it's me or the setup I made but otherwise I'm satisfied with my result so far.

I hope my setup can help you guys. Also, if is there any feedback to the setup, I'm glad to hear :)

(Sorry for any grammar mistakes, I'm not used to write or speak in english).

I installed the low-RPM supercharger for a change, and after tinkering with the ECU and power restrictor, I was able to slightly improve my maximum torque. (I think it's slightly over 391 now, versus 388 in my previous setup.) I did some laps with the new setup, and ended up shaving off about three tenths off my best, making my best time about 1:30.1xx. I'm unsure if it was the low-RPM supercharger that helped, my driving line, or both, but I'm glad I've been able to personally improve a little. I'll be more likely to secure another silver, as a result.

You can certainly use my two: Normsk_US and Normsk_GB.

It is a combination of SDI, Exosum (who based his on SDI's) and W1ggly (who also based his on SDI's). I did remember to save the lap, so will share it later.
Here you go. At the beginning of the video you'll see me finish a lap of 1:27.545 before going on to set 1:27.452. Before those laps, my best was 1:27.625, so to better it twice in 2 consecutive laps was surreal.

Nice lap @half_sourly ! I might try all those settings a go, I’ve been on it again today and tried the same tune as before but with CS Strong. I did set a new PB of 1:27.714 but I just felt CSA was making me sloppy. I did dial brake balance up to +2 which gave me a better turn in (feels like a very trail brakey lap??). I was 2 tenths up but got excited in the last corner and lit the rears up on exit to spoil the lap..

I think 1:27.5 is possible for me with this tune and CSA off. That’s my target now! I’m loving race B this week so I will probably put most of my focus on that. Keep it up all! I love the community in our little thread, keep pushing everybody and @half_sourly loving your work stats wise.. one of the main reasons I opened an account here so thank you 🙏🏼 😎

can I add myself to this list?

Are those your PS names? I need your GT7 nickname instead. Searching on "Normsk" I found XNormsky and The Normsk. Is either (or are both) of those you?
They're my nick names.

Normsk_US used to be The Normsk (PSN: BritGuyInUSA). Normsk_GB (PSN: Normsk_GB) is new and has only been live for a week.

It is nicknames that I need, so I will use The Normsk as there are no results for Normsk_US of Normsk_GB.
@half_sourly
My psn : jejechris
My nickname : Jerome D.
Ah, I got results for Jeje6410. I can't find anything for Jerome D. so shall I just use Jeje6410 results, as I presume that is you?

Sure. Mine is DolphDrago. 👍

You can use my stats if you'd like.
GT7 name: johnny99 And I'm content, for now, at 1:28.666.
BTW, I'm fairly new to this forum. I see how to find the number of entrants from an earlier posting but how can you search for your own or another's stats (final time and standing) for each TT?
Thanks for you're analytics.

Well that was much easier to challenge and beat the current gold time than I expected. Big shout out to Kie25, used his setup from the Youtube video. Less than 30 min of driving is what it took for me to get that lap 😳 I have the lap saved, if someone wants some help. The trick I found with this car is keeping the throttle on through the mid speed or fast turns.

Normally you release the throttle before braking or lifting, and then apply it fully. But with this car you many times keep it on very slightly, maybe 20% on the throttle, and then once car is pointing straight, then you go on the throttle fully. I'll say that having a wheel + pedals setup helps a lot with these type of cars (I have Logitech G29 with normal pedals).

I guess this combo just suits me pretty well, with a 'big boy' american muscle car 🤔 I do remember a few licence tests, where I managed to smash my friends leaderboard times easily, Trial Mountain in the Mustang comes to mind. So this was not a coincidence. Maybe 2 tenths in it, but honestly a fairly solid lap with that amount of practice.

I'm addicted to this time trial. The higher I get up the standings, the more excited I get. Down to 1:27.778 after today's session. Optimal was 1:27.487. A bit frustrating because there were a couple of laps I was up on my best time going into the final sector, but I messed up turn 10 each time but one. Of course the time I did nail it, I picked up a penalty in the Corkscrew because I cut it slightly too much. :ouch: To top it off, I forgot to save the replay.

Oh, and I finally learned how to navigate my nemesis, turn 6. Brake slightly earlier than planned, get the car turned into a partial slide, then blast out of there full bore well before even hitting the apex. I've found myself picking up a lot of time going up the hill with that method. Even if I hit the sausage curb, it barely has an effect on the car unlike earlier where it would cause me to blast off to the moon.

First outing in this TT.

Solid session of over 50 laps with @Jeje6410 tune (ds4, AT, directionals, X/square, TCS=0, CSA=strong).
It took me some time to get used to the way this car wants to be driven and I got better and better. At first fighting with 1:31 boundary then spending some time inside 30s, finally at the end broke into high 1:29 (.919 to be exact and 29.6 as optimal).
The tune has potential to go even faster, gold territory even, but would require some serious practice.

Will try some other tunes next.

@half_sourly - you can ofcourse use my data (gt7 nick: tmtk, psn id: tmtkview), but I also joined those official TTs at Escudo/Willow event when they were freed from ps plus requirement.

On a side note, facebook brought up a memory from 5 years ago, the last GT6 seasonal, also at Laguna (good times):
laguna-lastTT.jpg

So, did some testing and tweaking for the suspension tune last night. Well the fastest lap was done with the 2.0 version, kept reverting back to that all time.

But what I did notice, if you like really steady rear end, you can tune rear camber to 3.5 deg and toe in at 0.50. You need to use these both to make it work.
It's slightly slower for me, but my best lap was still around 27.3.

And as @samppa_944 mentions in his post, I also use throttle to stabilize car on some turn ins. If you are using my tune and gearbox, T5 (the one after bridge, fast left) use 6th gear, small throttle input to stabilize car when braking, full throttle on apex or close to it.
Now it feels like the car bogs down little, but you will gain heaps of time when going uphill and dont need to change gears.
Trickiest part in this, is that you need to get the car sliding little to get the rotation, but if you release brake fast, at the right time, it will make car on slight slide.

Ok, long explanation

Edit, wrong turn in the desc. meant to say T5, its the one that opens to that uphill.
