Dog woke me up early and instead of doing the responsible thing and going back to bed, I could hear tires squealing in my head.

So far my actions are for naught. About every 5th lap is somewhat close to my PB (~0.26) but the other 4 will be +3-7-seconds lol. I'm with @newb1017 on the somewhat randomness of the penalty on the sausages. Its incredible though how if I do the sausages well I'm bound to screw up either the hairpin, s-turns or 25-apex right-hander lol. One lap I was -0.55 (which would have put me in 39-club) going into the 4-apex, which I felt was 95% what I wanted, but lose almost .2 and then again didn't quite nail the last turn, but not bad - but what a deflating feeling watching the delta shrink as you head towards the line lol

Edit: What? Over? Did you say 'over'? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! Made 0.186 improvement but calling it quits after 167-miles on this TT today - even with a 1:39.613 optimal

Here are the mid-TT statistics.
  • There is a slightly compressed distribution (See graph 1), with fewer at the gold and none ends, and more in silver and bronze. The gold end is probably a result of the incredible time Bonelli has found.
  • His time also means that 60% of the usual proportion of drivers are within 1% of his time.
  • Overall though, a middle of the road sort of TT.

Autopolis event nr.21 says 20

I invested a bit more time in this time trial today, new PB after what felt like A LOT of toil. I made a bit of a mess at the hairpin so I think there’s another 0.2-0.3 seconds in me

I just added @sdi_03 on PSN for a bit of added motivation, @half_sourly just a polite reminder that you aren’t safe. Also, I appreciate you spend a lot of time working on those statistics rather than going round in circles so… 🙇🏻‍♂️

That one satisfying lap Dan!, I'm still struggling like crazy, I did like 500km to get from 39.422 to 39.387 today 🤣

Still sucks, but we got progression 🤣🤣

Did 10-15 laps, with a small improvement to my best lap, not silver yet...

Tried to add a ghost a bit quicker than me, it helped on some turns, but I lose it rather quickly so I am unable to watch him that long. Got to try the ghost reset.
With .5s advance for the ghost, I am able to catch him before the sausages and exit with him, but I loose time after that.

Got to work more...

Progress is progress amigo! I reckon I had four sessions without getting close to my PB.

I can’t imagine how difficult it is to get through the chicane of raised vibrators on a pad, let alone the double shifting shenanigans (both are mega frustrating on a wheel).

You guys da MVPs!

It's rough. I mess up the sausages more often than I get them right. We just don't have quite the steering inputs on controller that the wheel users have. I don't (usually) have a problem with shifting, though I can't speak for others on that point.

#DS4thewin :D

10 laps this morning with the same ghost as yesterday, this time with auo reset at each sector.

No improvement, best lap done avoiding the sausages (no what I wanted to do but it ended up being the best course of action in the moment). My optimal is 0.2s below my best so...

So easy to mess up the lap at the chicane, either by getting a penality or being to unsettled by the sausages, few laps where there's a slight hope of improvement

True!, but it was just a horrific lap, i think i only kind of nailed the first chicane, a stuffed up the rest of the lap
could be a lot quicker but getting it all together is a ral pain in the a*ss.
Most of the time i'm not complaining with my DS4, and i tlove the fact that i'm kind of competitive with the big boys, but this chicane is def not PAD friendly, altho i don't know how much you wheel aliens have trouble placing the Radical sausage-wise
The double shifting shenanigans goes reasonable on pad, you just have to be "not" that quick and it will work.... sometimes....

I'm sure that if i nail one lap, i'm in the real low 39's but it just not happens
Going to hammer it to the end because place 870 isn't gutting it for me

Da(m)n freaking aliens......... :lol::bowdown::lol:

Managed to squeeze about 20 laps in between baby feeds just now. Did a 1:39.544. Had to take my contacts out now and I'm struggling to pick out the sausages so only did a 40.2 in the next 5 laps... might have to call it quits for the evening. I hate those kerbs. So hard to be consistent .

I had a few laps and got a bronze time down that will stick just to get something logged. With a time that's around 6% off the current World Record I reckon I can get a Silver. (My performance varies, Gold in the Alphard with no trouble, but didn't even make Bronze at Nurb the other week.) Need to find where I'm losing time and study some replays.

Welp. I won't be doing better than this. Not only did I finally hit my sub 1:39 goal, I obliterated it. I knew as soon as I came out of the billion apex corners, I was going to be in the 1:38's - assuming I didn't somehow stuff up the final turns of course.

The question is, will the leader pick up more time before the end of the TT and drop me beyond 1%? Probably.

A quick sector 1 is hugely helpful.

And yet despite all this...I still didn't pick up a spot on my friends leaderboard. Dang you, aliens!!

Excellent lap, i need to improve although i am on 1.40.330 at the moment so just in gold.

I was just noticing that watching your video, thanks it's really helped - I can see that I need to go right into the kerbs on T1, T2, cut the sausages at T3&4 (I currently have all 4 wheels inside after being bounced in early tries, nice to know a smooth line across them exists) from there it looks almost like I'm driving until the final two corners where I am way too cautious. I usually start wide but looks like taking a tighter inside line works. Sweet. Should be able to shave a good couple of seconds off, hopefully enough to stay Silver by the end of the comp.

What rpm are you shifting at in the Radical?
For me, I have no idea honestly. I go by MPH. When going from 3rd to 4th or 3rd to 5th, I usually shift around the mid 90's. Usually shift in the mid 70mph range when going from 2nd to 4th after the hairpin. When going from 4th to 5th after the multiple apexes, I'm in the mid 110's.

But if you've watched the videos in this thread, you'll see many of us have different styles and don't even use the same gears for some corners. It seems better to shift earlier than later though. I'm only high revvin' it when I'm hitting the end of a straight or coming to the line on a fast lap (not double shifting to start another).

Do you guys pull back at the start of a new lap to get more momentum when crossing the starting lap ?

I feel that I am already slow and barely cross the line at 188km/h (and it can be worse if Iget a poor exit from the U turn at the end of a lap), on the video above @Dolph Drago crosses the line around 196km/h

[Edit] forget my question, it is a rolling start 🤣
