Cool. You seem much faster with that.
Guess I will have trouble catching you, again.
there are some who are faster than me in DS4 or DS5. The steering wheel has nothing to do with it. It's all a story of trajectory and manipulation of the gearbox at the right time and at the right revs so as not to lose speed.
You arrived on the Red Bull Ring circuit with the controller and not me with the steering wheel.

New time in Fuji : 1'40'770 with optimal time at 1'40'619

OMG I finally caught up with this thread!! LOL wow that Olympic TT really brought in the posts! I've had some time to play over the past couple weeks, but work has been crazy and haven't had time to post or read the thread apparently.

Got gold on the RB Alfa (3rd gold!), silver on Olympic, currently gold on fiji (but will prob have to improve my time since I think I was at 2.98% this morning lol. And I can NOT get the grand valley TT down at all! Need to find like 0.6-0.7 seconds which I think is doable with more effort

I did spend a few days doing the SF23 menu book and creating liveries and spending wayyyy too much time taking photos lol. The SF23 races were a bit of a challenge for me and took awhile to learn the correct line and breaking points (and how much to brake) but I was able to get 1st in all three (with the Fiji one being brutal for me and only got 1st because I kept the radar up and hit the pits before it really started raining, which I ended up losing 4p's on second to last lap!! But good ol glitch saved me when one back-marker ran out of gas and the train started right before the straight going into the last lap!)

Going to edit this post and put in my pics since I have no one else to show them to lol

Edit for pics!

Should mention that I did not do the Alfa livery (lol if you couldn’t tell when compared to mine)!

I think the degree of precision from the steering wheel is something completely different than that of ds4's directional buttons and it matters a lot.
But you have a point that with low downforce and low grip cars (like the Alfa on RBR) the difference is somewhat smaller, although I don't enjoy driving those.
I thought you still drive with controller from time to time.

yes I drive from time to time with the joystick but not the cross.

Well here I think I reached the end with the time of 1'40'503 even if the optimal time is 1'40'421.

Back from the travels that prevented me from defending my silver at Deep Forest (finished like 5.04%) :irked:

Just in time to start the Fuji TT before it ends. So far nicely into gold:

There is space for high 40s, will try the Porsche next, it wasn't to my liking before, but we'll see...
Audi is really good on exits from tight corners which are plenty here (provided there's no contact with kerbs).

On the Grand Valley TT I did 20 laps yesterday, was close to a silver time but was consistently putting in low 1.19 somethings. Finally got into the 18's with 1:18.973 which was just inside the silver at the time around 4.86%. I managed to have a poor first corner but totally nail the last couple of corners on my ghost run so I kept gaining half a second to a second in the first sector, and then slowly losing it especially towards the end. My optimal is 1:18.208 but I am now struggling for time over a whole lap.

I logged in today and saw with a new WR my time was 4.98% so I had a few laps and chipped a little more off so it's back to 4.8X% but still not safe.

I looked at the current leads ghost. Their car in the first downhill section goes tight into the right hander before the kink in the road and I can see the car rotate, the back end slide out a little and front nose tuck in. Just wondering how to use the gears to reliably get it to turn in like that, as it tends to understeer out, and they don't lose much speed. I actually don't think I'm losing much time there as a smooth line is pretty fast anyway, but I see alien behaviour and wonder...

I reckon I could be braver going right up to the wall on the bridge, but I tend to hit it easily and when I am braking almost immediately after anyway I prefer caution to gaining a tenth or two there. The following two corners feel so slow but I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.

They also take the right hand corner after the short back straight with the penalty zone on it from the far left. Being on the far right is a disadvantage but anywhere on the left and I go way too deep. I brake and turn quite early from the middle as it is. It's so easy to find yourself deep in those corners and going very slow and tight. There is such a thin line between going too slow and braking too early and ending up turning hard to avoid a wall!

I expect this one to keep falling and Fuji looks quite settled so I'm hoping to secure silver on both, if I can hold off a few more records by finding a few more tenths lost somewhere...I have done it already but not on the same lap!

Evening everybody!

I’ve been a bit quiet as life has been busy. It’s also been a frustrating time in GT world. I left the Olympic time trial a little late and paid the price, a 600 mile epic final day did very little to help and I ended up underachieving. Humbling! I just never got the middle section right and my best guess is I was overdriving it, with very little experience of Gr1/high downforce cars on a wheel it was an adventure! Still, we keep learning. I think if I added all my best sectors on that last day it would have made a gold time but rarely did I tie it all together. I did have an optimum in the 1:15s a couple of times but never hit the heights! Well done everyone who got gold. That was tough

Got stuck into Fuji today, I do like this track although I’m yet to crack the final sector.. it’s fun as a challenge or to race but to go fast as physically possible.. sometimes frustrating 😬. I started with the RSR but after hearing good things about the Huracan I bought it and gave it a go. Wow, this car is great! Nicely balanced, decent grip, lightning quick nose, sounds the nuts… I love it! I’ve got sectors one and two locked down but sector three is a bit of a lottery! I guess I’m not alone in that respect 😃

1:40 was the goal, mission accomplished! I’ll have another go tomorrow and try and make top 500 maybe

As for the other TT, I’ve bought the car but not put a lap in yet! Are people enjoying it??

To quote one Ric Flair, "Woo!" I knew it was possible, and I actually pulled off a lap to join the 1:39 club at Fuji. "I'm going to save this replay!" I told myself. Then I promptly forgot and realized as I was exiting the time trial. :banghead:

Still not enough to top the friends leaderboard, though. Dang you, guys!

You can almost see my time on there!

You are really on fire these last TT's!, epic times!!, nice job!

Am I misremembering, or wasn't there some source where you can see your history in the Time Trials? I have only found the list of time trials on the Gran Turismo website, but I would like to see my ranking in each of them. Yes, I can manually go through the thousands of pages .. but I don't feel like doing that 😅

Any help on this? Or does this not exist?

If you give me your GT7 nickname I can provide your results.

Hi,

I hope this helps somebody...

I have struggled like crazy with the Fuji track. Tried all sorts of cars. Then I had a dash around in the Peugeot RCZ. Straight in to a gold time! It's quick, planted and very easy to drive. It won't set you the fastest time of all I am sure. It should get you a gold time though. If I can, you can!!! :)

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Ian Ian ian,

This helps nobody. Do not encourage these speed freak time trial experts to go faster! For godsakes man, they go to damn fast as it is!

I swear they aren't chasing the time just the amount of people they can push out of it! Edit: the Margins

🤣🤣🤣

All joking of course.

Slight improvement today, felt good and the optimum was decent but a few silly spins in sector 3 made me give up on Fuji. I might do one final session tonight and try and set a proper quick time.

If I had started sooner I think the magical within 1% would have been possible! As for Grand Valley, I gave that a go today and wow what a lot of fun! Really sad I don’t have the time to grind that because it feels fun and possible to go really fast… not @Doodle fast but you know… fast. Nice to finally have a road car that handles reasonably normally on tyres that suit its performance. Well played PD!!
