Don't know if a 51.069 will hold for gold on Suzuka or not, but I'm pretty happy with it having done the lap using the DTM Audi. Lovely car to drive, despite the dreadful understeer it has. I think I'll push for a mid 50.x at some point, it is certainly achievable.

A shame Gr.2 is so all over the place, as you really never see this beauty used. Not that Gr.2 sees much use anyway.

On Mount Panorama I discovered you can cross the start line faster by reversing all the back from the home straight to the barriers behind you, and then launching the car from there.

I think this is how the elite guys are getting their fast stats. Is this a known exploit?
The time gain from the start to the first corner is so little you might as well focus on getting the first corner right. Getting it absolutely right vs getting it reasonably right is worth a tenth and a half.

Have you even looked at that lighting lap from Jeddah??, these guys dont need exploits, they are just better than the rest

Have been off the TTs whole summer, but decided to get back in the saddle with Maserati. I haven't driven Bathurst basically at all, so knew this was gonna be a learning experience. Now, I've been one of the "it's a road car with road tyres, what did you expect" people the whole way through, but even I must say that the lack of grip here seems extreme. I didn't read the thread or watch any lap guides, just got in the car and started chopping, and I must say I really thought there had to be water on the track. When the MC20 came out, I tried it on Tokyo 600pp event. It wasn't very nice there, but even on that actually moist track it didn't appear this slippery. So even for someone who has a LOT of mileage on slippery track, sports hards and road cars, there is something a bit off here.

That being said... I absolutely love it, especially in VR. The track is superb for a Tokyo/Nordschleife enthusiast! Why have I been sleeping on it all this time?! For a Finn (four months of snow chaos every year), even the slippery nature of the combo isn't a bad thing as such: it's just a set of conditions given to you, up to you to make it stick. Got a good amount of consecutive clean laps on the first stint, gradually upping the pace. Best lap of first 20 was 2:15.4 with opt. just below 2:15.

Messy session, with a lot of mistakes, overpushing and visits to the astro resulting in the 1:52 average lap time.
It did have this one crucial lap though where experience gained by visiting both sides of the limit paid off - 1:50.242.

Annoying thing about improving is I still see a couple places where I could possibly gain more time, but realistically I doubt I will be able to get a lap that gets everything right.

Got back into TTs again after a long hiatus from Sport Mode. The Mount Panorama one is absolutely brutal. I have a 2:13 in me, but putting it together would be incredibly though. I just hope to stay below the 3% threshold with my current time. The world record would need to drop to a 2:10.493 for me to fall out of gold range again. How likely do you think that is? I think I am safe on the other two challenges.

Guys I have to admit that I'd really really really like to get a good result on the Suzuka TT, so I spent 40min straight on it earlier this evening....and got only a 1:54:237
I need to be way smoother in the mid of the track section when there's the U turn, I lost maybe a whole 1sec. there...I often come too quick and struggle to slow down and have a clean turn, and when I come slow I fail to be smooth :P

@peniu Looks like we are chasing each others 🤣

This evening's session was intended to just explore the limit. Many offs and out braked myself at lots of corners, but somehow I managed a very decent 2nd, 3rd and 4th sector in a single lap. Even with a somewhat crappy 1st sector I still managed a 1:50.2s.

While everybody was upset about wall riding exploits being used on HSR, the gearbox exploits used on Mount Panorama are in the same league IMO. Shifting a car down to 2nd gear at 150mph isn't realistic
While watching the current WR run I thought it was a little silly that in a game that is marketed as the real driving simulator the car was never in the "correct" gear except on straights. Either the car was shifted down gears way too fast to reduce braking distance or after the apex of the corner upshifted in a similar fashion to avoid wheelspin while accelerating.

Check out my Hot Lap of the Newest TT at Suzuka in GRP 2 cars.
Yes my TT count is 38 Gold and 1 Silver (Olympics 1.5% whilst injured)
Top 300 currently but i can improve further maybe later in the week. Enjoy and feel free to Subscribe as I'll be doing more Streams for TT and Dailys laps to help out people.

Still a smooth lap, and that 50.2 isn't that bad! 😉😁 that's very close to the 49's 😁

Just keep trying and study these videos, if you have the lines right, the gears right and you keep pushing you will get better, but it's not the easiest combo If you ask me 😁🤣

Here's that muffin again, 50.2 also, that is quick already!, you guys are on to the 49's!
Great job!

Peronally found some time this morning, but still not happy with the lap at 50.5.
There is always something I'll stuff up 🤣
I mist the apex on T6 completely, but spoon went kind of ok here,
But Degner (T8) kills me 9/10 i hate it 🤣🤣

I also notice I need a lot more time on Suzuka to het into the consistency flow, I took me over an hour this morning to get multiple sub 51 laps, not the easiest one for me, but I like it!

So almost found 3 tenths this morning, progression! 😁

And sorry, I had to test the smoke on PS5..... better! 🤣

Still stucked with my very poor gold score (1:30.6xx) at Red Bull Racing with Godzilla. Did some stints this morning but couldn't lap below 1:30.9xx but with 2 optimals at 1:30.5xx and 1:30.2xx. So, I know it's doable to secure my yellow medal but I just can't have 3 decent sectors in the same lap.
For now!
#KeepPushing

Congrats guys - Muffin, Gomario, Jeje, Glock, and all others great drivers for your incredible scores on Suzuka. Hats off !!
I'll probably give a try to another car than the NSX, this afternoon.

I'll definitely keep on trying cause I like this TT, but I easily hit my brain-fusion limit on TT :D
I've just seen you video....it's sooooo smooth, I'm too rude at driving yet

Actually , the thing is.. The top players can gold these without exploits , but since it's a competition they'll use any means necessary.

I have seen formerly named person's time/s on Blue Moon Bay Oval CE and can tell they used wallride there too , just to be higher on the leaderboard..

Are we pretending that shifting to 150mph to get better deceleration and rotation isn't an exploit?
I suppose you could say you're exploiting the game mechanics, but I would not consider this as some how cheating as compared to wall riding. Anybody can change their car setting to MT and you can do this too, it's easy enough to perform this to give you an edge that I can't see anything wrong with also doing it.

Second session at Mount Panorama got me a 2:13.9. I think I'm happy with that and can consider to have gained basic understanding of the track. The surface just seems slippier than my go-to tracks, since I tried the MC20 with sports mediums as well and even then the grip wasn't great. Much better than with hards of course, but still a 2:12 seemed like a very solid lap time so not miles ahead. Made a new Tokyo tune of the Maserati as well and there sports mediums are super grippy and the car is very easy to drive.

I must say that at least these road car TTs (non-tuning ones especially) have gotten more demanding. Jeddah is pushing the envelope with that gear box braking and of course, earns respect for doing it better than the rest. I just don't think the game physics should allow this amount of it. The real cars definitely don't, all of the modern semi-automatic and sequential trannies have safeguards for over-revving. And even if you could do that in real life, the effect would be something completely different, as in similar to applying full handbrake at full speed. I'm pretty confident in saying that would not make you go faster. How the game lets you be on 1st gear at 120mph and keep the car under control just isn't something I like to see.
