Guys, nobody tells @Dan_Tes that I just got time ahead of his time. He will beat my time again and then it will be really difficult to lower it even more.

Big weekend of time trialling now that I have some free time again.

Starting with the Porsche 918 at Road Atlanta (again :irked:), managed to put in a 1:15.642 after many invalidated laps and trying to keep the battery charged. Once again, sector 1 at Road Atlanta was the cause of my ruination, I just cannot figure out how to consistently take that sector quickly. There is another 2 tenths in my time just in sector 1 but I'm not sure I will ever be able to find that time. Currently sitting at 459th but expecting to drop.

I've finally joined the 7:43 club around the Nurburgring in the FL5 Type R with a 7:43.885. This was by no means a perfect lap and I can probably find a few more tenths here and there but I'm not sure it will be possible to put them all together and maximise the lap. Currently sitting at 349th which is a nice feeling.

The Lambo VGT around St Croix I will need to go back to as there is definitely still much more time to be gained here. Current best is a 1:59.813 which places me 1,339th which I'm not happy with. Probably I will focus on this combination to try and improve for this week. Also a good opportunity to try and learn the best line through the final sector of this track which I've never been able to figure out.

Finally, Gr4 around Alsace Test Course, I've put in a 47.666 :scared: which places me 456th, one position behind @Mistah_MCA (with the exact same time) and 4 positions ahead of @Tidgney. I'm sure both of these guys can go considerably faster if they put some more laps in, but it is nice to be surrounded by such a high calibre of drivers. Don't think I will put much more effort into this one, I'm already satisfied with the time and would prefer to focus on the other combinations.

No problem mate, actually looking at the times I think Gold is tough here given how quick the top guys are but @half_sourly and his magical statistics might just give us more insight on that; I've uploaded a youtube lap that may or may not help, what view do you use and do you use MT or AT? I feel like this one is a great one to do without assists so if you have Traction Control/other assists on it might be worth turning them off.

In the second sector the main difference here to my record fast laps is taking it easy into the downhill right hander; the fastest laps are all set with minimal breaking and crazy commitment into the apex and it makes the car very difficult to control to slow it down on the uphill and keep it tight round the sharp left hander. With a more gentle entrance there and not cutting it so much; get the car straight and pointing roughly towards the entry to the left turn as you go up the hill, break in a straight line as you get to the upslope and get down into 3rd or even 2nd gear, it's crucial to get the car slower than you think and that's ok because if you keep it tight you can get on the power really early in 3rd gear and the differential will drag the car round. Final left corner brake hard before the kerb starts on the right and then get it turned in hard right into the apex and then early on the power right on the apex in 3rd, cut the kerb on the right.

Again my waffle is probably less useful than the video so if in doubt, watch the video! It's always easier said than done but I think the key to this whole trial is that uphill slope braking zone and getting the car turned in to the sharp left hander after it.

@Barareklam I didn't quite waste my entire day trying to beat your time but I did do 100 miles in the Lambo.. aaaaand did not succeed! I did get within a tenth of a second but man that was a fast time, kudos to you my friend I genuinely don't think I can beat it. But of course I'm going to try  That trial gets more fun after about 20 minutes IMO, once you get used to the weirdness of the handling it's strangely fun.

Thanks very much for your tips and the video. Slowed it down for the corner on the hill, kept tighter and got back into silver, just. with a 48.937!!

I also used the Alfa 155 - what a lovely car, so much nicer (for me) to drive than the Mazda!

BTW, I don't have any assists on (except braking zone markers) and I use AT.

Yeah, 6 AM that means Porsche time, back to Road Atlanta for some slip and slide with that beautiful 918 Hybrid.
The more miles i drive with this car the more i like it, just a little to much understeer for my liking but besides that... what a car!.
if you have the headset on it's pure rawness even with that hybrid system.
Plus i think the tires are great for this combo, it's so tricky and i you loose it, you need a new set of tires immidiately...

Instead of my own ghost i loaded up Doodles, man he's quick after T3, he is just flighing down the S'es, glad we can respawn that ghost each sector otherwise i only see him at T1
But it did work for me in some way, i had multiples faster laps than before, but kept beeing invalidated on weird spots where normally i have no problem, but after a descent amount of restarts i had a sort of better lap in, still felt messy, T6 was descent for once, but went in to early on T7 so that comprimised my exitspeed quite bad, so left a fair amount of time there :mischievous:
So i know i can be a alot faster, just to many spots to **** up on Road Atlanta, such a difficult track!, but that's what we like!

Afterall, not a bad start this morning!

I was kicked out of the 500 but went from 1:15.689 to .669 :lol: but next lap was a .578, so we back in the top 500 :)
not for long i think because a lot of people haven't had a serious go at it i think??
So we keep trying, tomorrow another day!

I'm coming for you @djolliea

Looks like I've got some pretty busy TT action ahead of me. I've only set a few very poor lap times on the St Croix event, and not even tried the Honda Civic ones or the new 918 one...

Any hints/tips for knocking some time off with the Lamborghini? I've tried a new livery and that hasn't helped much for a change.

Lambo... really slow in and fast out, brake on time (early) and trail braking...

In case any of you lads are struggling with the TT @ Alsace, can't guarantee this will work for you....but I was going with the rest of the crowd with the Mazda3 and I was stuck at around a 48:3x for lap after lap with my optimal showing a :48.0x. Just for laughs I loaded up with the Alfa 155 and in 3 or 4 laps I turned a :47.89 without much struggle.

My big issue was the wheelspin under acceleration with the Mazda, the Alfa seems to put the power down out of the slower corners better. Worth a shot if struggling like I was get a little more comfortably into Gold.

Hi,

I managed to shave of another 100'th to get down to 47:900 at Alsace. This is as close as, I think, I have ever been to being considered as something from another world. 👽 I find it incredible, the amount of precision and effort required to gain those last few 10'ths and 100'ths.

My hat and glass are raised to you all. The Aliens. The almost Aliens. The not quite Aliens and, myself included, those who strive to be Aliens!!!

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

The Alfa is awesome at Alsace but I couldn't get gold with it. I imagine if I put in a bunch of laps and played with my line a little I could.

First goal at The 'Ring is complete! Gold.

5 seconds off the certificate time.

Don't let the 2 sectors fool you. I had quite a few restarts as I pushed the Civic in the first couple sectors. I'm not sure how many attempts I made before I set this Gold lap.

The only TT I don't have a Gold time with currently is Suzuka. But I don't think I'll enter that one. I'd like my other times to hold as I'm almost out of Sainte-Croix and RA.

Guys, PREVIOUS time you told @Dan_Tes that I beat his time so he said goodbye to friends, family and Jesus over the Sunday and took Lambo for a ride and beat my time. Please this time do NOT tell @Dan_Tes that I beat his time again because he will beat my time again and now it's getting more and more demanding and requires proper effort to lower it even more.

You probably are the fastest motionsteering man in the world 😁🙏, epic mate.... just epic
Competing with @Dan_Tes with his wheel with a motion controller is mindblowing, well done!

I did some quick miles at Road Atlanta, getting faster in S1 and can now often hold on to Doodle, but yeah......still 6 and 7 🤣
Had a lot of 15.6 laps and two 15.590 after eqch other 🙄🙄 with errors so it's in there, but takes ages to come out 🤣
And you notice things you never knew before...

All aboard flight 918.....
Apparently there is a bump 😜🤔🤣🤣

Tried the Alsace TT for the first time and I think it's...weird. It seems to me that PD made up this combo solely to test the new Mazda; PD just wants the aliens to set quick times so they may adjust the BoP for the next update.

I tried several other cars, including the previous metas and decently fast ones, but they didn't compare at all. I didn't bother trying with my wheel as it's an easy enough time trial for DualSense, but Mazda seems to be the way to go...did a 48.0, but for some reason, can't get it further than that. With the other cars, I could only get within maybe a few tenths.

Either way, it's yet another Gr.4/3 TT, and no one cares. And no one cares about the Sainte de Croix TT either. Hopefully the combos get better soon. 🙄

Yesterday evening managed to improve another tenth at Road Atlanta. And I thought, well, just maybe one more lap. All of sudden I was crossing S2 with a time of 56.7xx which was almost 0.4s faster than my PB. But then I suffered from brake fade 😩 It would’ve been a 1:15.1xx or even better. I think I am going to sue Porsche 🥲
