After being in the Top100 in the arguable hardest TT yet (Suzuka with Mp4/4) I'm really struggling here. Have to admit I only tried for about 30mins. Just barely managed to get gold atm (1:14.242)... Guess I need to invest more than 30mins into this to become fast.
Also not really a fan of the short layout of Watkins but hey still a better TT than the one with the boat aka Nissan Z :D

Good luck everyone :dopey:

Let's go!

I'm loosing in each single turn due to acceleration, I guess. I don't feel confortable in opening too soon.
The car is weird. If you wait to get on the gas, it will understeer like crazy. You actually have to give the gas a squirt, even when conventional wisdom says that would normally send the car flying straight off the track. But the car gets sideways the second you accelerate and helps rotate it around the corner.

Also I don't understand how in the world they can enter that fast in the bus stop. I'm constantly missing the second part of the chicane if I try
You need to jam the brakes just as you start to turn left as you're coming out of the first part of the chicane. It sounds odd, but it works. At least for me. If you don't, the car will understeer and you won't make the final right cleanly before the carousel.

The current time trial could very well be one of the worst I've done. The time trial with the Nissan Z on Maggiore was annoying but once you came to terms with it's quirks, you could pick up a decent amount of time. The track limits weren't as harsh either and the car wasn't as suicidal on corner exit. I know I complained about the Z and said that the people responsible for the physics should be shot, but the ZR-1 is even worse. The front end is too tight and the rear is too loose so you're constantly battling to keep it on the track. I spun and restarted the lap many times because even the slightest touch of the throttle can cause the car to snap. At least you could recover from a slide in the Z.

This vette is sooo addictive. 1:13.096. Total distance driven 1000kms
Optimum is 1:12.8xx So stil some time left on the track.

Few pointers if you are having problems with the rear grip. DO NOT LET THE CAR SLIDE TOO MUCH
What I mean, is that the tyres will over heat and you lose the grip completely.
So if you need to countersteer a lot, it means that you are sliding too much.
Small slide angle is needed to get the rotation.

Throttle control is really important, car is torque monster. Keep up the speed with 90-95% throttle, you can also pump the throttle to keep torque in control.

DonKie25's guide is really good, you will not get in top 10 with it, but there is really good pointers. Especially how he keeps the 4th gear on some corners to help throttle control.

Happy hunting friends, lose / slow cars are best for learning this games physics

Thanks, will give it a try

Maybe I am not the one who should give advices, considering I mainly get silver, few times gold, and that I am driving on controller with motion steering, but I was above 1:15 (with first split time 29.4 seconds,) and decided to listen to advice someone posted to turn on countersteering assist On, so first split time 29,1 and lap time 1.14.9
Happy for now considering that am senior driver (you know when you start getting discounts after age 55,or maybe you don't haha) but I will try to see if I can somehow find those 600 of a second for gold time. Opt time shows I can find 300,so fingers crossed.

Wow...I had to catch covid and sit here with fever, a horrible headache and cough to improve my lap time from 1:14.714 to 1:14.435.

Gold is 0.096 away. So close yet so far.

EDIT: can someone please explain to me why half of the time it says I successfully loaded my best ghost lap but it doesn't show? Sometimes to make it work I have to close sport mode and re-enter it a couple of times. The settings are fine, I don't need to change them since they're set to show the loaded ghost lap and not my best lap of the current session.
Turning on/off the ghost with R3 doesn't change anything.

Is this an unsolved bug by PD?

What? Is it possible to turn ghost on off with R3 while driving? Must test it, because sometimes it is so close in front of me so it would be good if that is possible to turn it off for a second or two!

It's been possible for quite some time (😅years). Glad you found out...better late than never. Yes it's annoying when it's very close, hence the on/off button.
I have it on R3, I don't remember if it's by default or if I assigned it to R3.

I must've been having a bad day on Monday because I found things to be a lot easier last night. I beat my personal best time on the second lap and I could see the light at the end of the tunnel. It looked as though I'd be able to beat the gold time. I can't even count how many times I restarted the lap because of small corner cuts and stupid errors, but I ended up doing a 1:14.311 - 0.028 seconds faster than the gold time. I hope it's enough.

Ooooh, I don't know where this came from but having an early "lunchtime break" and on only about 5th lap, I went from 1:19.1xx to 1:17.5xx!!! That's a safe bronze I think! Way off silver, a long way off gold but at least I should get a bit of cash this time.

The thing is I have no idea where I pulled one and a half seconds from - I forgot to check where I lost my ghost! 🤣

Keep pushing!!!

It's so frustrating, spend an whole hour before work this morning, PR on 1.14.238, and the best i couild do today was 1.14.5xx, it begins to be a patern for me, on the first day i'll set my record time and never come close to it again?!....., am i the only one? :banghead::banghead:

Same here, it took 3 sessions to improve my time, but in 2 of them I drove nowhere close to my previous best

Now I'm sitting at 15.5XX with ideal just below 15.0XX
