Thank god I managed to improve at Lake Louise. I despised the idea of having to go back there when previously I thought a low 1:46 was guaranteed gold...but as we now know, not.

Got a 1:45.6 after 200km of trying. I quickly realized what the hardest part about the TT was...consistency. I had gotten pretty good at S1, but then I faced the task of tackling the rest of the sectors.

Then, it happened, I got a lap together. If the time won't be good enough for gold, I'll lose my hope in humanity...in the sense that someone who used to be human is no more...

After another long forced break, I finally had time to install the new update today and do a few laps.
As the GT3 RS is one of my favorite cars, I started with the Time Trial straight away.
It definitely felt strange at first, as my skills were a bit rusty.
After a few attempts, however, I was able to burn a 1:44.907 into the American asphalt. Your good times definitely spurred me on. The alien density here in the forum is definitely increasing.

Okay, so I have a few words about this snow TT. In principle, great fun. In practice, I can see how this might drive a lot of people insane. Not only those who already hated the dirt physics. Not only those who question snow. But even those who welcome both. Track limits seem, to me, completely against the spirit of the sport. Snow rallying does not frown upon a little leaning on the banks, but of course GT7 does. But that is not the worst of it. Those green poles are an absolute travesty! I'm not sure if those are supposed to be structuraly solid, as in something that would be a bad idea to hit in real life. But here they seem to be like slalom poles, and hitting one of those being an invalidated lap is ridiculous to me. I am also afraid that some lucky alien might find a complete Hail Mary manouver by sliding between two of those poles somewhere and getting a line that is not feasible at all for general public.

Got a gold for now as well, but again: this has potential to turn very problematic.

Edit: Just now, looking at my screen capture below I noticed the track map looks like a message from PD to the TT community. As if like a finger... or something :mischievous:

Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. This was just the kind of TT where someone would figure out an ace in the sleeve and hold it to the final draw. That nagging feeling made me put laps in much more than I normally do at these, since I've been off my rig since Monday morning. It can't get bad enough to drop my 1:45.096 to silver, I hope(?). Because if it does, I'll scream bloody murder for breaking my Gold only vibe.

100% I couldn't get anywhere near my opt. time. I don't know how many laps I would need to do in order to achieve three best sector times.

Meh, I don't have the energy left for that one unfortunately... Not tonight:boggled: Too tired from a hard days work.

Spent my whole last Sunday on it and got my time down to 1:46.2, I honestly thought I was safe... Oh well, this will be my second silver medal after the Olympic TT, nothing to be ashamed of but it still hurts a bit. Guess I'll have to be quicker next time😉 .

Congrats to the ones who made it, and good luck to the ones still trying!!! Its not over yet! - Take care guys - Vex

Coming off an extra night shift at work. Breakfast burrito, short nap on the couch. It's on ...

40 laps later at Lake Louise, not much to show for it unfortunately. A very modest gain, but I was never able to put in as good a Sector 1 as yesterday. I came close once but botched Sector 2 and invalidated the lap. I'd be well into the 1:44's if I could get it all right.

Out of 40 laps, only 8 were valid! Still, I'm very surprised by the recent WR time. Currently P101 and 2.28% just doesn't seem right.

A 1:45.9 is now gold at Lake Louise?? I don't like throwing in the towel, but no way in hell am I going back in there with zero chance of beating that time. I'm a full half second off. I don't even know if any of my optimals I've had would have been good enough.

Screw that. I'll continue try to improve at Daytona instead. I'm sure to be disappointed with my time, though, because it feels every person in this thread that I've been even remotely close to or beat in the past has turned into aliens. Every. Single. One. Picking up multiple tenths while I struggle to grab a hundredth.

But before I jump back in the Porsche, I need to get a podium at Suzuka in the final weekly challenge race, 'cause that ends tonight.

I should have known in the morning that the fact today was a first day I've had to clear snow off my car is a clear sign of something like this to happen. There are only around 850 people in gold bracket now. Thankfully was able to improve into 1:45.795 now, but I still despise this TT - snow feels so inconsistent to drive for me and it also looked from the start like a place for some cheesy tactic. Not sure if the P1 did that or not, but replay being not available is only fueling my assumptions.

Gave the GT3 RS a go around Daytona last night. Managed to set a 1:45.688 which places me 605th currently. A bit surprised I'm so high up in the rankings here given I'm only 1.37% off the number 1 time .

Now that I've read some of the posts here I'm noticing that there are way more people in the top 100 then there were for previous trials. Was there an alien invasion of earth this week? How did you all become so fast? There's some tenths in my lap but no where near enough to make up the gap. Maybe the aliens didn't invade Australia because it was too far away from everywhere else :odd:

As for the GR Yaris in the snow, I checked last night and was still in the gold range, won't have another chance to attempt this one before it resets. Reading the posts this morning, I see I am no longer in the gold range with a 1:45.942, so I miss out by 0.017, making this my first silver since the Olympic Time trial :grumpy:, whoever updated the gold time, I would like it if you did not participate in time trials anymore :irked:

The Daytona TT is a fairly easy one. It literally is 4 corners and the bus stop chicane. All you need is luck out 2 corners and don't bomb the rest and you will have a really good time.

If there’s ever another TT on snow, remind me to not do it…
Fearing a drop into bronze with my previous time given the recent speed of our “friend” from Japan, I decided to have one last nervous breakdown at Lake Louise and managed to find half a second somehow. Still a very mediocre silver but now hopefully safe from the drop zone (and ever doing this again 😂). Amazed that this moved me up over 2000 places on the global leaderboard, but equally unsurprised that I didn’t move anywhere on my friends leaderboard!!

I’ve given up with Lake Louise. I tried again today and couldn’t get better than 1:55 which is 4s slower than my current bronze.

I hate Lake Louise.

Switched to Dayton and saw my time was now +3.00%.

I switched on counter steer based on some on the posts here and a few laps later I was sub 2%.

I noticed plenty of spots in my lap where I lost time so I could probably gain another couple of tenths.

I posted my lap to to showcase. Search for tags, gtp or Normsk.

Okay, I lied. After finishing up with the weekly challenges, I went back to the snow for one last effort. I had a poor final turn leading to my fast lap but yeeted turn 1 perfectly. I lost some time in sector 2 but gained it back in the final sector. Barring someone going insane, I will retain my gold streak. I will now go sit in the corner and shut up. I KNOW I'm going to hear it from @Evilmuffin.

FWIW ...even I want to jump back in Lake Louise, it wouldn't make any difference. I had totally forgotten how to drive in the snow now. I will take me a few days just ot get back to form.

Apparently I had forgotten how to drive the Daytona TT too .... After an hr and a half, the best I did was. 1:45.25 something. I guess my time will stay as tomorrow I will be doing the new TT at big willow......ewwwwww.....I just don't like that penis track

Hope I can get lucky and bring it down another .235 in the next 2-1/2 hours. It’s taken 2-1/2 hours so far to drop .111 😂
Need luck more than skillz at this point.

You never know. It took hours for me to drop .05 seconds a few days ago. I got on today and ran a 1:46.1 in just a few laps. The only thing that hurt me on that run was a poor sector 1. Less than 10 laps later I happened to nail turn 1 (and didn't completely screw up the rest of the lap) and dropped my time down to 1:45.640 as shown in my post above. So, it is possible.
