Well I have a lot of videos to show you all later tonight. I'm getting really stressed and irritable at the NurbGP track. Surely I thought I would nail this in a day, nope. Am at 2'27.054 after 50+ laps. The first sharp right turn after I start hinders me a lot because I'll hit the cones or either go off the track and hit the wall. The next left is a mind bender too, because I can veer off course. Idk how the aliens can not get penalized in Sectors 1 and 2 because I'll see them going out of bounds and still the white clock is going and it doesn't turn red.

And difficulty is not a main part of the TT's. How much skill you have on a track matters because each sector and turn can help or hinder your lap times. That is the case for me the past 3 years since I started GTS. I hate it when I can't do a certain TT, or even achieve silver. I'm doing kind of bad, so I need to post my videos later on, so be looking out.

Improve again little by little 🤣🤣 with 1'28'887

Edit : 1'28'775 always little by little !!!!🤣🤣
Cool time, xD. Three 8's in a row!

Gold is there for grab, let's go get it

I would like to grab every gold, but some obstacles of the NurbGP track is stopping me. See I need to learn how to use MT properly and to use drift tricks and trail braking so I can get some secret exit speeds out of a turn or corner. With me getting 35 bronze medals I still have a lot to learn in order to join the masters and professionals.

Now I bought a bunch of tuning modifications on my Mazda RX8 car which helped me a lot to earn my 2'27.054, or maybe I was lucky on that certain lap.

So, may I ask, what other factors are critical for improving on a certain TT? One thing is I look for landmarks to give me a signal of when to brake or turn.

Bit of a frustrating improvement tbh. I've slid into gold but kept seeing my optimum time run away from me as I had a string of inconsistent laps. Clearly there is more in this for me but a much needed break is needed.

Do we think gold times will come down much more? My RX8 time is less than 2 tenths safe in gold.

Just have fun, do not get frustrated over gold/silver/bronze.
If you look for Competition, just think It's not a race against other, it's a race against yourself, to get better. Times will come.

@Evilmuffin came up with a grate sentence couple of days ago. If you fight the car in the exit, you did something wrong before.
One of my cronical mistakes is to much speed mid corner, both for trying to use others brake point and for "gain time"

Once I realize it (and it doesn't happen always) I brake earlier with the focus of hitting the apex and accelerate from there on.

Pick the most meaningful corners of the track (where the long straights start) and work on them. Once you are happy with the progression move to the second most important and so on.

At least that works for me to improve over time a little bit

Hi,

I haven't been around for a while - Work and building this...

IMG_3141.jpg

I am still getting used to it - Then I need to get used to a new wheel and base. A new wheel and base that has been on order with Fanatec since early December - That's a different story though!

1:28:7xx at Lago Maggiore. I am feeling the difference that a proper rig makes now. Every lump and bump is transmitted to my hands. I just cannot wait for the new gear to arrive.

Best regards to all here.

Hell yes! That is a sweet sweet setup.

Ran some more laps following @Tidgney 's ghost at Nurb GP today. Finally managed to get gold, but it was a struggle.

I really don't know where I'm losing 3-4 seconds, but that ghost just keeps pulling away. I feel like I'm on the right line, so I guess I'm just not carrying enough speed through corners

I'll just hope this holds on as I'm pretty close to the edge between gold and silver :)

Did the Watkins Glen Super Formula race this morning to complete this weeks event before moving back to the Civic… I thought something was broken the first time I tried to turn into a corner 😂

Finally got recalibrated for a short stint and managed to pick up some time to close in on my optimal splits from last night. Still a couple of tenths in it, but making good progress

I'd left the RX-8 due to an incompatibility of moods.....it wasn't working out between us.....😕😕

these last few days, I'd let myself be seduced by an Austrian Walkyrie, and I have to say, I had a great time......😍😍😍.(1st photo)

and now, this evening, this Mazda minx has come to ask me again..... "there are 4 days left....give me a chance...." 🤔🤔

as I have a big heart, I grabbed the hand she was holding out to me and I was right to do so, because, although I didn't really believe in it, I had a good time there too....... 😛😍😜😂😂

gold medal on a circuit that I don't like and that gives it back to me......too happy!!!! 🥳🥳🥳😎😎😂😂

I just hope a Dutchman doesn't come along and give us an alien time between now and Wednesday evening....😡

before playing with the Civic again, (10 days to go...) I'm going to take a few more permits...3 more before tackling the S10......

Hello again!

@samsaoule...

As an Englishman.... I have to say, listening / reading the words of a French(person) translating their words from French to English and then writing them in English, in an open forum - Is, quite simply, wonderful!

@330_D...

I am so very, very, pleased with this now. It's rock solid and has zero "flex". The load cell pedals have made a big difference. The rig has made another, massive, difference. I can feel and sense where my times are going to improve now. All I need now is my new wheel base!

Best regards to all here.

Durn, what an ordeal the Mazda TT has been, I am close to silver but are far away from the gold time!

Wonder if I'd have a better time at Maggiore in the Civic. I'm tempted to go ahead and try it tonight, at least it will get my mind off the other one.
Civic is much less of a handful Chris! The Mazda takes a lot of patience to get right and NGP is too technical for sports hard tyres! The Civic trial is a bit of a blast just be careful of understeer when getting on the throttle! Lovely track once you get the hang of it too

After a first short session in Italy on Thursday where I wasn't feeling the car at all (but still got relatively close to gold), today's 20 laps already went much better. 1:28.876, so unless a small miracle happens, gold should be secure. Same situation at the ring. I think between the two, I'll choose Lago Maggiore to grind some more. The shorter laps have less potential for frustration, and I've also really grown to like the Honda, which surprised me since it's an FF car. But, I mean, isn't it a beauty? 😍

Happy lapping everyone!

Finally had a chance to start this time trial this weekend. Quite happy with my time.
Gear shifting at the correct rpm is crucial in this one. It can cost you alot of time.
Still figuring out where to brake for that sweeping left hander. Right now I don't have a specific marker, I just brake and hope for the best :scared:

Well then I'm switching to it, yes the track is too complex and technical for me to handle with the Mazda. It's a job controlling it and avoiding penalties. So I'll take my chances on the Civic TT.

I finally made Gold…. I was thinking it wasn’t going to happen and man everyone else is cooking this track up…. I’m still way off the pace… lol

You will love the Civic TT, but it did frustrate me for a day or two… Nevertheless it was a blast… Now I’m heading back to the Mazda… 😢

Ooooffffff.....did a 50 laps session but only improved by 0.05 second :scared: 1/2 way through the session I had completely forgot how to do the 3rd sector. This new PB had a 3rd sector that is 0.15 second slower than my best 3rd sector 🫠

New optimal in the 27.7s!

Nice job, can I use your replay as a guide? Is it possible to improve on a controller because that's all the equipment I've got, and I normally use an AT, but maybe I should try the motion sensor thing to steer. So I can free my fingers/thumbs up to press up and down on the gears manually if I decided to use the MT.

And of cause you can improve. The fundamental racing theory is the same regardless of input method or transmission type. Take baby step, don't try to go from a bronze player to a gold player in one go. Also, do meaningful practice laps instead of doing laps after laps mindlessly.

Here are my video's, well I really don't have anymore to give here, I'm not enjoying this TT at all. I tried watching Tidgney's guide for 30-45 minutes, and it's still hard to replicate what he does on the track. From now on, if I see anymore road car challenges like this, I'm not doing it. Sigh, another bronze it is! It's too much of a chore trying to wrestle with the Mazda tackling the harder corners and turns of the course.

So off to Maggiore in a little bit, I will post my runs shortly.

@Chris30 - one suggestion might be to find a ghost that’s a little bit quicker than you, say 1sec, set the ghost to reset at each sector, and try and beat them. When they’re in the way, pick another ghost that’s a bit faster than the last, and repeat the process. This way you’re inching up on it and improving bit by bit rather than trying to make leaps and bounds in one go? Hope that makes sense.

Had a short window this evening for a few laps and managed to hit my previous target of a 28.1xx twice, with identical laps!! Don’t think I’ve ever done that before in any time trial…ever 🤪

Optimals are now a 28.06 and new best lap is 1:28.161. Pretty much reached my limit now I think. I’ve got the downhill left more consistent with a different line under braking than previously. Oh, and I also added stripes 😂 - not sure why I didn’t do that sooner!!

Today I put some good laps on the RX8, but sadly not to get good results. I managed to shave 0,6: and get to 2:26,0. Which I guess is a safe silver. Not solid, just safe.

Then I tried the Civic at Maggiore and what a nice combo! There I got a better outcome, getting 1:30,1. 0,6 away from gold. Maybe I'll a gold result this time. Who knows?
