I dont know why most of you are negative about the genesis vgt, its actually the only vgt i tried that's nice to drive, my only complaint is I wish we could use lower gears 🤣 using high gears just kills the fun of it and makes it easy. A car that wants to dance with you is a good car to drive. Period. (My humble opinion)

Agree. It is a tricky car, but certainly not the worst of these VGT things. A lot of patience is required.

Opinions vary. Why are people negative about it? Because it drives horribly. And there's nothing we can do about it. And PD has made it the combo this week so we've got to endure it.

I'm sorry it's been made "easy" for you. It's a nightmare combo for a lot of us, and offers no fun whatsoever. It's not "dancing" with me; it's swiping at me constantly with a machete, whilst tasering me and spraying oil on the floor. It's going to be the good old process of iteratively testing to find the right steering senstivity for the combination and then just suffering grinding the time out, battling the zero traction, zero braking, inconsistent understeer and snap oversteer. And lapping until, just based on probability, a decent gold lap pops out.

I don't mind them putting fantasy cars in the game, but they should at least be capable. If they're meant to be some sort of window to the future then road deaths are going to go up. A lot.

Where can you buy that Civic car because I would like to do a livery and upload it and use it in my TT run. But I cannot find it in Brand Central. I have not tried the Monza Challenge yet. I'll probably get to it this weekend.

So I kind of understood enough of the car to slide it into the gold territory, I'll do a big screen session tomorrow and see where it ends 😂, it is less bad then I expected but a very fine line, it kills you when it can....
But stil think it would be better on RH's
It does give me P4 vibes all over again... ascari is pure ice drifting

I think you can only get it at UCD ;)
Correct. And it's currently on sale there now. Get it while you can, @Chris30

It's also a good car for the weekly Civic races when they pop up.

On TT news, nothing today. But I'll stick with the Civic for now. I think there's a little more time left for me.

I got inspired by the structured approach outlined here:

I decided to take a new approach to starting this trial. I have never been in this configuration before, so I created a custom 10 lap race. One make and as difficult as I could make it for some modest credits.

Now that I had a lay of the land, it was time to set a lap.
...
Hello everyone and welcome back on Gran Turismo Time Trail (with @Tidgney 's tone)

As said yesterday, I've tried the @GlockPants method and.... I'm still in silver BUT.
  • created a custom race with similar settings as the LM TT
  • won 2 stints of 10 laps with "expert" opponents (thx for the credits) with a PB at 1:29.44x in the 1st and 1:29.45x in the 2nd
  • I was able to improve my consistency (mostly in a range of 1:29.7 to 1:30.0)
Then, I've opened the TT and started to lap as I've done previously in the custom race.
After 10 laps on the TT, no improvement so far but I feel much more confident, less stressed, less tense on the controller.
I was in the same range (1:29.7 to 1:30.0) with an optimal at 1:29.434.

So, it works for me!! And I strongly encourage everyone who struggle on the TTS to test this method too.
Thanks @GlockPants

I know and I feel it's only a matter of time to regain my seat in the Yellow Club.
I'll keep practising and pushing this way.
I watched Tidgney's lap guide on my phone during the day. Then installed the new update and got to "work".
First I golded the CE rather quickly.
Then I looked for a Power Rangers livery because of this:
Is it me, or the Genesis VGT kind of reminds us of a power ranger helmet?

Didn't find one and put on a throwback Williams instead.
Then I did the WTC 800 race which I had not done before. Racing tires are required. Slapped on some RH and then detuned a bit to 800pp. Car handling is rough. Power oversteer is insane even with RH instead of the TT's SS tires. Car is totally overpowered in the race though and needs no pit stop if you adjust the fuel map. Won by over a minute.
Then I did the VGT Trophy race with the stock SS tires. Only 793pp where 850 are recommended. Did I say power oversteer on RH was insane? Well I guess my English isn't good enough to come up with a word to properly describe it. Had to restart a few times. Did reasonably well after getting the hang of it, but outbroke myself through Variante della Roggia in the last lap and did not manage to catch the other Genesis VGT.

Fastest lap of only 1:43.5 did not bode too well for the TT either.
Then I did the race again. For some more practice but also to tick off the win since I would want to get it at some point anyways. This time I caught the other Genesis through Variante del Rettifiio at the beginning of the last lap and brought it home. Fastest lap of 1:41.6 still ways off gold though.
Now it was time for the TT. To my surprise my first invalid lap was already in the 1:40s. Not sure if practice had paid off or whether the car was nerfed in the VGT Trophy race. About ten laps later i had a 1:39.2 in the bag. Unless Ebrahim or some of the other aliens goes wild on this one and beats a 1:36.317 I will be safe. I doubt that I will come back unless I have to.

Other than wrestling with the car and sloppy brakes in general I only really struggled with flooring it through Curva Grande using Tidgney's short shift into 6 at turn in trick. Once I slightly hit the curb without losing the rear it was fine.
..., I'll do a big screen session tomorrow and casually do a top 100 while my cat clings to my controller😂, ...
Fixed it for you.

Ya'll have never been more right on ya'll's assessment of a car. To much power, not enough tire or downforce, throwin' out the anchors is a lick n' a prayer. Barely inside a silver in 20 laps. Disappointingly, put my paint job on, it shows up in GTAuto, but not on the thumbnail or out in the GTWorld driving. Hideous orange paint musta' been holding me back by those 2 seconds to gold time. Hadda' been that.

Actually a bit surprised I made it into silver, I was short shifting and feathering the go fast pedal so much. Don't know if I'll make the effort to keep it in silver, or even bronze, if Mr @EbrahimX7 decides to lower that mark some more.

Note to the aformentioned @EbrahimX7 , any car that can tear the tires off through 6 gears is not "dancing". I have other words to call what it's doing but they ain't family or forum friendly.

Nah, the P4 was a dream (at least for me). You had some control of your slide in it.
What a piece of ****. Unless @EbrahimX7 knocks a second off the target I'll never be driving this one again.
You sound absolutely miserable in in the video. A mix of disgust and apathy thanks to the dreadful car. I couldn't help but laugh through the whole thing because I felt your pain.

As for my lap...Actually, first, I was so tired yesterday that I didn't even fire up the PS4 to try and better my final time in the Mazda. It had been a few days since I had last gone 'round in it, and I doubt I would have picked up anyway because of that. So, on to Monza. Could be fun. But PD decides to give us:

How am I spinning my tires in 5th gear?? I've driven plenty of cars in the game where Parabolica is sketchy. This car takes it to another level. Want to slow down for the upcoming corner? Good luck! You only need to apply the brakes a mile beforehand. Even then, you still might overshoot the corner. Also, I use a controller, and MY arms hurt after barely over 40 miles of hotlapping! I don't know how it feels for those of you on wheels. That said, I may give it one more run and be done with it. Because mistakes were made, and I would like to at least get in the mid 38's.

Morning chaps!

I’m super tired so just a quick update; a long work trip is coming up so I’m trying to knock both trials on the head before the end of the weekend. I’d be lying if I said I was looking forward to Monza in the new VGT after reading comments here; however the last combo with the crazy Lambo was actually quite enjoyable once you got the strange handling..

This is definitely not enjoyable but as other have said; if you can persevere this isn’t terrible! The great thing about these trials is that people often set a gold time and give up so any professional stat padders like me can swoop in and get right up that leaderboard!

No assists for me but I did hear mention of TC1 helping for this one? Possibly Gran Turismo legend @Tidgney ?? I’m going to avoid using it for now but if I hit a brick wall it might just take the edge off

Also did a decent session in the Civic today, I don’t particularly enjoy that combo… Front Wheel drive has never been my thing and even though it’s fun it loses its charm after a few laps IMO!

Well, I was excited to sit down to try out the new time trial this morning, but my TV decided it would explode instead. Made a big popping sound and now it won’t turn on, assuming the backlight is fried.

Maybe it’s for the best? From the sounds of it this VGT thing is better kept in the garage…

Your approach is excellent and I've started to applied it since @GlockPants published it here. Very nice job!
I won't comment about the car physics but your score is really impressive and you should be proud about it.

Nice golding it mate!,

I must say, this isn't realy a great combo on Remote Laptop Nokia 2.0 setup....., the input delay is just a little to high to catch the car at all times, even with sensitivity at 10, but indeed did a run as predicted this morning...
No top 100 though....., i blame the Cat Zoomies.....

Did manage to squeez out a reasonable lap after i found out 5th is my real friend here, exit T6 and T7 in 5th gear does a good trick... ( if you not oversteer to freaking Saturn on your brakingzone..... at BOTH corners.....

The full send though Curva Grande is kind of a mistery for me too, most of the time i'm exiting in Rettifilo in 4th and have to work hard to not hiot the grass on the left, at 150/160 km/h i'll shift to 5th for a brief moment ...rotate ...up to 6 and just hold on and pray

but overall..... 5 is my best friend here on this combo

So found a little time, and i can now run if i want to, but i think i'll try again
