Morning chaps!

I’m super tired so just a quick update; a long work trip is coming up so I’m trying to knock both trials on the head before the end of the weekend. I’d be lying if I said I was looking forward to Monza in the new VGT after reading comments here; however the last combo with the crazy Lambo was actually quite enjoyable once you got the strange handling..

This is definitely not enjoyable but as other have said; if you can persevere this isn’t terrible! The great thing about these trials is that people often set a gold time and give up so any professional stat padders like me can swoop in and get right up that leaderboard!

No assists for me but I did hear mention of TC1 helping for this one? Possibly Gran Turismo legend @Tidgney ?? I’m going to avoid using it for now but if I hit a brick wall it might just take the edge off

Also did a decent session in the Civic today, I don’t particularly enjoy that combo… Front Wheel drive has never been my thing and even though it’s fun it loses its charm after a few laps IMO!

I'm glad there is someone else not enjoying the Civic, feel like I'm on another planet than everyone else with that one!

Perversely I'm quite looking forward to trying this silly Genesis. Daft that they put it on sports tyres, someone is trolling us!

Wow, Genesis

Did this update change the braking physics? It seems that you cant brake too deep in to the corner?
I mean that you need to release brake sooner to get grip for turning?

Dont know, have not played that much lately.

And why there is no tuning TTs anymore? Because everyone drives the same setup in real life??

Ok, I REALLY should check my T-LCM's brake deadzone settings if there isn't any unwanted minimal input being applied. I am in no way super fast, but I always manage to get silver pretty easily and gold with some effort. I gave this one a go yesterday for a few laps and only managed 1:46s, barely in the bronze zone.

First test in Monza with Genesis at 1'40'074 with optimal time at 1'39'9xx. Not gold but it's possible..🤞🤞🤞

Many people have the impression this car does not brake...but you have noticed we almost reach Mach2 with this machine!!! And I don't use 7th gear 😅😂😅
Yeah, tue, but no problem....... you can break even more when sausing the gearbox like crazy, we are yeeeting again this time, 300km/h + in 6th on the straight and casually press it into second gear

use 5th a lot on exit!, and maby against all others...., but i'm entering Parabolica in 3, rotate and up to 6 instead of 5th, just a bit more controllable and if i nail it i practicaly don't loose anything on the top ghosts... ( prob. the only corner where i don't :lol::lol: )

You will get it copin!

I got this time without the ghost of the tops because it tends to bother me a little even with the lag. But I will try. As for exiting corners, I exit in 4th except in the S where I exit in 5th. But I will follow your advice my friend. And in Parabolica i am entering in 3e and exit in 5e

I was to, but tried T6 T7 and T10 all in 5th on exit and is
far more stable :), and then Parabolica is just far more easy in 6th....
Maby when i become quicker i'll return to 5th, but for now my time was set like this :):)

You got this champ!

Hi, I use tlcms, zero brake deadzone and all washers inside + make the force as soon as pedal travel reach 100% = 100% brakes. I know this makes it like t3pa but its best for this game i found 👍 and you still get trail brake accuracy

Well, it was a very productive morning here because in less than 50 kms, I regain MY gold reward on Lago Maggiore with Miss Civic :)

I swear if someone try again to push me back into silver before thursday, I'll ask asylum to Antartica!!! Or any place far away from this game and this forum

I could probably push more as I had an optimal at 1:29.2xx but I must also prepare myself the next edition of the Clash of the Titans next sunday on Big Willow with the terrific @Lomic, GOD @smoothbore12 and probably also the fast @Gorefast.
As you imagine, I feel like :nervous:

Anyway, I'm happy to be back in yellow territory :)

Or 8th! Playing around with various ways to not slide about last night, I discovered it has 8 gears.

You really don't need to yeet*. In the end my best time (1:38.151) and several 1:38.2 times, came by just going down from 6th to 4th before both the Prima Variante (first chicane) and Curva Parabolica (last corner).

* In fact, I'm not convinced it makes for better braking in this car, but I've not done proper tests - just a gut feel based on trying it both ways.

I'm going to give that a try then!, the yeeting still makes me feel stupid and not video-posting worthy  so if i can reach a .1 without..... i'm in!

Great time there btw mr stats ;)

I stopped at 7th so with 8 this is the speed of light that we will reach 🤣

I don't have any good laps, but my best I definitely shifted less and rolled way way more. It's very difficult sometimes for me to wrap my head around the fact that it can be so much faster to roll through instead of anything else... it's the one place I feel like I'm terrible at judging. This car seems to love it. Your time is insane by the way. Impressive, sir. 🍻

Well, I was excited to sit down to try out the new time trial this morning, but my TV decided it would explode instead. Made a big popping sound and now it won’t turn on, assuming the backlight is fried.

Maybe it’s for the best? From the sounds of it this VGT thing is better kept in the garage…
This must be the first documented case where a video game car veered off the track so badly....it broke the 4th wall and damaged the TV.

I think you can relax, you've done more mileage training there than I've done in the entire game since january 1st and given that you are already faster... we should be giving you a handicap 😁

I haven't struggled so much to get a bronze for a while, but this Genesis is proving tough! Done around 30 or so laps and only got the car around undamaged a few times! And when I did it wasn't fast enough to get even a bronze.
Oh well, will keep trying because I love the track.

Man is this thread alive on thursdays and fridays...

I really do need to switch to MT, if I can find a good configuration that I can remember and keep up with. Now how does trail braking tie into this, does it depend on what gear setting you use? The trick is having it on the wrong gear will affect the speed of the car meaning it will stop at a certain point of the selected gear (1-7).
Regarding MT it really helps me a lot in driving and getting braking points and corner speeds right. On the same side this keeps me struggling with all those EV cars in the game with just this single gear "D" drive. I'm misjudging the right amount of braking most of the time...
So probably you might learn the speeds with breaking alone, but for me it has been easier while having the gears as an orientation. As @Wilsonson or @newmedia_dev mentioned car control in general as well, it might perhaps click a little bit earlier as you have the right idea about the speeds by just shifting down to the right gear and you maybe can try easier what one gear up over the recommendation does towards the handling. Usually I take most of the corners one gear higher than the indicator shows.

But to be honest, I used AT for a short period of time when getting into Gran Tusrimo with GT3 on PS2, even though having used MT since the mid 90's on all those games i raced on PC. Switching back from wheel to controller might have been a reason for that.

Then I did the WTC 800 race which I had not done before. Racing tires are required. Slapped on some RH and then detuned a bit to 800pp. Then I did the VGT Trophy race with the stock SS tires.

Fastest lap of 1:41.6 still ways off gold though.
Did you retune the car after putting Sports tires on? That could be reason for the differences. And also if Fuel and Tire Usage is active during the races, you might get slower times as well.
What a contrast. I'm gonna gold this one and be OUT. Eff this vacuum cleaner with 5 million horsepowers.
Looking at the last four events (Civic within), I might probably like this one.
When I started to look closer to those TTs, I think we were quite close at those timing tables and your name is also easy to remember due to personal car selection IRL.
Man, did you floor the Supra at TM and that great little Civic at LM! Don't know if there has been a TT like TM where I put in more miles and wasn't able to get close to your time... But handling wise, these both didn't suite me well. @PlanetJanet: I absolutely feel your pain in the Civic...

From what I read already in the comments, I think i have to fire up GT and see how it feels.

As much as I love the whole GT franchise for its accessibility and the way most of the cars drive, there are some situations where you have to act against some laws of physics to become faster.
Your reply reminds me immediately of those TTs where double shifting cars like the McLaren MP4/4 makes you gaining several tenth on the straits alone. How much faster would the real world car have been, if those engineers realized to get rid of this big and heavy 6-speed gearbox and replace it by a smaller and lighter 3 or 4 gear version?

I followed live TheKie and Rory Alexender's attempts to get the gold.....when I saw how they were struggling, I told myself that this TT..... wasn't going to be a cakewalk.😲😲😲😫😫

then last night, I went there to see....I set off with all the aids and TC3 to tame the beast. 😂😂

I did 8 laps, of which only 2 were timed, at the limit of the money..... 😲

so, yes, PD is having fun getting us into trouble with 800hp cars on SS tires, or 400hp cars with completely out-of-tune suspensions and "soft comfort"..... 🤔🤔

It sounds stupid, and in a way it is, but it's just a game and we don't have to make ourselves sick to get there...🤔

not me anyway, so for this TT, I'll settle for the money and go back to the "permits".......

I've got a Cobra Daytona in S7 that's a bit like it and causes me enough trouble......😂😂😂

and I'll try for once to improve my ranking with the Civic, which I find much more fun....(usually, I stop when I've got the gold....)

Thanks man. I put in a significant amount of time compared to what I'm usually able to. I've had a few weeks off and I really did the work on those. I started back this week so I'll have much less time and likely will fall back to just getting a good safe gold unless the TT really strikes me. I appreciate the kind works. It took me quite a while just to gold these things and thanks to this place and ALL the folks in this thread I've really gotten a ton better. That's the power of community.

Also, while I love a 330d, my username is not for the Bavarian Bruiser. It's my favorite excavator. I dig holes and pick heavy things up for a living. Long ago that name stuck and as goofy as it is it's really grown on me. 🍻

You should indeed fire it up!, it's not as bad as everybody ( including me ) yelled at first, you just have to be very delicate on throttle, it goes like an absolute jet on steroids, flat out in a straight line it's mad.....
just dont steer that much on throttle, even in 5th or 6th it's butt want to outrun you...:)
But once you get to know it a bit, it's quite challenging to complete a flawless lap, but it's more fun then i would have thought!
aaaaahhhhhh I'm almost there 😱😱🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's close already on the second day!, this can't go wrong!, :) :) :) :) :)

Wow, the man himself. Thanks for the advice dude. I just got them last weekend and only set them up kinda to my liking but one thing I for sure don't like is the long travel for either gas or brake but that might change. Coming from T3PM which I had for about 6 months and it's absolutely night and day difference. Anyway, back to it. Cheers.

About 65km done and into the safe silver zone. Quite like it under throttle as it as challenge, but turning in is on the Supra side for me right now. :scared: Have to figure it out next weekend. Tomorrow is reserved for the throwing the Civic around, as I won't be able to put in some laptimes after sunday evening.:boggled:
