Spent a few hours yesterday preparing for this dreadful new TT. Golded circuit experience at Monza, was surprisingly easy. Then did two events on Monza that the Genesis VGT was eligble for, on the same tires that are used for the TT. And lastly did the hardest Custom race imaginable, 10 Laps and ended first. Gave me a nice credit haul :-)

Best lap i did was around 1:39:1xx but i wish i did that in the time trial itself.. Let's Give it a go today 🙏

No assists for me but I did hear mention of TC1 helping for this one? Possibly Gran Turismo legend @Tidgney ?? I’m going to avoid using it for now but if I hit a brick wall it might just take the edge off
Yes it was Tidgney. I turned it on and it definitely helped. Still had to throttle control hard out of Curva Grande in 5th.
When a German appreciates something everybody hates: RUN AWAY!!!!
(French proverb)
😳😂 No wonder given our history. Everybody hates angry, yelling, hateful men with dumb tiny moustaches. Germans…
What the! Aliens did over night!
I'm well in silver now, they cut more then 2 tenths...
Wild. Anybody able to share a current screenshot. No time to get on till maybe tonight.

(Had to skip another two pages once again due to time constraints)

I have no hard feelings towards your kind people, my car is... German :dopey: (Bavarian, to be precise^^)

I was'nt refer to this particular period* because I consider we (we, as French, German, Japanese, Peruvians, or others people) are the same people living on the same planet :)
Ok, apart this, there are Brits  and the aliens 👽

* the tiny moustache guy wasn't the only monster in our common history (Napoleon, Staline, etc.) and we shouldn't keep on blaming all a people for one guy. Now, we are Europeans and I'm very happy and proud about that.

** but honestly, Germans should stop coming on Holidays in France with their socks and their shorts. Please :D !

Okay. I never use aids other than ABS, but watching some videos made me go with TC1. And 5th gear. Lots of 5th gear. Even 6th gear coming out of Parabolica. The traction control saved me coming out of Ascari. I put my foot down and didn't let off, which led to some tire spin but thankfully no CAR spin.

It's early days I know, but this is the highest I've been up the friends leaderboard in some time. @Gomario JSP and @Evilmuffin, you've got solid gold. No need to go again. ;)

That's a solid lap mate!, good to see you up there 😁
Don't have much time this weekend, and yesterday I spended the time that I had on buying all the new engine swaps and had some fun with that....
So you are still save 😁😁

I think I'll try some on Monday morning again 🤣

Morning friends! I had a very strange session at Monza last night in the trauma inducing Genesis. On the one hand I find it extremely challenging and unpredictable to drive especially with TC0 (I haven’t even tried TC1 @Wilsonson, I feel like this one is so unruly it’ll make little difference :odd:). However, I go through periods of surprising consistency setting near PB times lap after lap! Truly bizarre.

I’m in to the 1:37s! I actually set at least 15 times below 1:38 last night with that spooky consistency (clearly I reached the Zen stage early, quite possibly wine was a contributing factor… :dopey:). Quite tempted to put it to bed now coz I think I’m already near the limit of my skillz here and any more lapping will most definitely generate some wheel spin induced PTSD! HOW CAN A 4WD CAR LOSE CONTROL IN 5TH GEAR AT LOW SPEED!?? :dunce:

Apparently I set a lap two thousands of a second faster after this which gained me another place

Hmm 🤔 or hahaha or.... I think I noticed one interesting thing, or I am imagining, so I tried few more times, and I still imagine same thing so I wonder if some of you fast aliens can try it too and tell me if you imagine same thing or it's just me. So .. Bear with me. This Genesis X on Monza, when I have high speed and approach corner, I have noticed that downshifting doesn't really help to slow the car, it feels if I am in sixth, best to keep it in sixth during whole braking line until very end, shift down just before the turn and turn. So with this in mind I thought... Yes i know, it's a silly thought, but I find this Genesis X very weird so .. I test the opposite and upshift 😲 at braking line and that slows car slightly better. So long straight into parabolica high speed in sixth, corner approaching and I hit the brakes between 150 and 200m aaaaand I upshift to 8th... Yes I know, tell me about it. I keep it in eight until very turn, downshift to sixth and if I nail it I can stay in sixth and exit in sixth. Can some of you fast aliens try it too and tell me what you think. It's not much but I think it does slow down sliiiightly better so you need to have skills to notice it. (and yes then you need to shift down two more gears when entering the turn, example first turn)
Shall I mention few of aliens just to get attention and see if you are curious enough to test it. @EbrahimX7 @djolliea @Tidgney @half_sourly @Dan_Tes @Gomario JSP @Evilmuffin @Dolph Drago @Boabdulrahman and apologize others for not mentioning all of you.

Hmm, interesting idea. I did a mini-test yesterday as follows, based on my earlier comment about not being sure downshifting helps in this car:
  • restart to ensure same conditions.
  • Shift to 5th as soon as the blue light hits the end of the bar
  • Brake 100% at 150m and keep it at 100% until the car stops completely.
I did this with TC-gear combinations of TC0, TC1 and TC2 on the TC side, and staying in 5th versus yeeting it down to 2nd on the gear side. So six combinations and I ran each three or four times.

The results were not conclusive, but there may be a meter or two in it for downshifting, but not much. Conveniently the car stopped more or less on the change from black to green around where the Parabolica starts to turn right, making comparisons easier.

I would not call it scientific, because braking at exactly the same place is almost impossible at that speed, but I tried to always brake just as the 150m board left my screen.

You could do something similar for the upshift idea.

Personally I don't think there is a huge amount of difference with this one, I've been trying to downshift without 'saus-ing' the gearbox as @Gomario JSP eloquently puts it  and it doesn't look like the true aliens are either. The car definitely seems to need 1st gear to get good rotation in the first chicane and then it's a real challenge to get it up to 4th for the exit. I've noticed that it's almost worse in Lesmo two to downshift too much, I change to 4th as a matter of course but I'm pretty sure Tidgney and some WR laps they just stay in 5th. Strange strange car all round!

I took the Genesis round Autopolis to try it out before entering the new TT. I think the only positive things I can say about that experience is that I've found parts of the circuit I never knew existed before, and that it may help me learn how to drift. Other than that, however, I wasn't impressed and as I don't really want to add to my already impressive collection of Bronze medals, I reckon I'm going to sit this one out.

I had the same feeling when I was trying it by upshifting before turn 1 for example. Feels like the car bogging down helps. Could be the fact that the car becomes more stable and isn't slightly drifting under braking with extreme downshifting as that can happen.

You cheeky little scamp!
You have no idea :D

I have a goal for 2024 to finish in the top 250 at a TT. I wonder if this Genesis might be the one to go for, given how many people seem to hate it. I was around ~530 last I checked but I only had about an hour at it yesterday.
 Top 250 ??

Yes, the Genesis might be the one you need to reach your 2024 goal.
But I bet you won't succeed :lol::dopey:

Interesting observation. Will try when I play next time, for me I also found that holding the gear for a while before down shifting was slighlty better. But I havent tried going up gears like you said 🤣. Will see how it goes

Did they change anything regarding the setup for the Genesis? I set a gold time Thursday and had to rapidly downshift to 2nd to get the car to stop every braking zone and when I tried it again this morning it felt quicker to brake and downshift normally again
Am I just imagining things?

Edit:
@EbrahimX7 please don't set a much faster time, you guys already forced me to improve my time four times now to keep gold

I doubt he'll listen. He's the GT expert of low records!! I'm having a serious time trying to beat my 1'31.110 time at Maggiore. Durn I wish I had magic powers, or some kind of MT workaround, xD. But...

Just keep at it and it will come. I was on for a 1'28.7xx this morning but thought hitting the wall on the finish straight was a great idea so my 1'29.330 stands for now :banghead:

I lapped for half an hour last night and couldn't get within a half second of my best. I might add that I just wasn't feeling it at all so as terrible as I was driving, to be that close wasn't bad. It makes me crazy that I've really seemed to get the hang lately of whatever car they've thrown at us pretty quickly and fairly well (I don't think I've been out of the top 2k in quite a few time trials and much better than that in a few) but this forking car is garbage. 😂

Kudos to all of you who've managed to crush this TT so far. I'm gonna get it but it's gonna take some work.

The fact alone to be mentioned in here made my day already 😁🤣
Interesting thought here, and it's clear now that this thing can be driven in a lot of ways.
And when I look at @Dolph Drago his lap he had a complete different style than what i was doing, I had time for about a whole 6 laps this morning 🤣, and went for the "no yeeting" relaxed and exit all in 5th gear approach and immediately ran low a 38.4 something.. I haven't upshifted yet underbraking but I'll try that the first time a have time for a good stint 😁

Watch out guys, I'm in the 16,000's. With a time of 1'41.992. I have a fire Genesis X livery that I'll show you all later. I'm fired up today. This seems easier than the Civic TT. Thank you god, maybe a possible gold for me?

We'll see, I've got my arsenal ready!! Of retrys. You gotta think about your braking points and turns when going through that first chicane(right, then left). The second one after you go really fast while turning right kills my time too.

Because I'll possibly unfriend one or two friends TRAITORS tomorrow, I could accept some new friendships in game (even if you're German or British :P....).

If you ask Google "Worse traitor all the time", here is the first result:
