Got myself down to a 38.2 and ~340th place. My optimal is a 37.6 but I just can't string it together in the big slidy bastard! I've been trying for nearly 3 solid hours, I don't think I can do it. :(

340th place is fine and 37.6 is not a bad result if you can make it happen.

I started the day by beeing very brave....., took a seat in the VGT and turned of traction control...... boy was i bad ..... :lol: :lol:
at the end of my 45 minute session i could not get below 38.5 without it, Variante is a REAL pain in the a** without TC...., i feel it's almost uncontrollable on the Dualsense on this section......, maby in time i will master it, but is it good for the controller??......
by the sounds it makes.... naah.... :lol::lol:

Because i counld't get the grip i wanted on the VGT i went back to the civic..... god what a difference if you drive these two bastard after each other, took me some laps to get used to the power understeer but eventually had a good flow with multiple fire laps....

I was allready middel finger out to @Evilmuffin out the window on the S'es

But could not make it happen on the line.......and went from .673 (@Dan_Tes i forgot to say sorry about that Moehahaa )
to a whopping .640 :lol::), but i must say i'm happy with it!, was a good lap you did early on mate!, bravo!

That’s a lovely lap, @Soccmals ! I think you should be able to get into the 37s easy. The key to this trial seems to be all about confidence in getting on the throttle as early as possibly as it’s manically fast once you’re on the gas.

It’s all lovely and tidy and there’s probably a bit of time to be made everywhere as you gain confidence but I’m tempted to say curva parabolica is your best place to gain the time you need; I’ve not tried with TC on this one but it looks like you’re getting on the power very late here, it’s a very strange corner where you don’t necessarily need to be as tight to the apex at any point, there are so many different ways of taking it in different cars..

I would try maybe braking later than you do and as you start braking coming up to the corner just get the car pointed roughly at the apex going in and let the tyres scrub the speed off a bit as well, when it’s happy to turn (and it’s ok to run a bit wide) get it turned in and get right up into 6th gear and full throttle as soon as you can rather than taking it gently in 5th until it grips consistently like you are doing now.

Just a thought as it’s the only corner you get a freebie on too before the lap starts, if you can nail a quick exit there you’ll make time at the start and the end of the lap.

FYI by the end my technique was just to brake before the 150 board, get it pointed roughly towards the apex early, downshift to 2nd for better rotation and as soon as the car starts turning in towards the apex start going through the gears to 6th on partial throttle and then get full throttle in 6th as soon as I can.. partial throttle up through the gears gives you both a bit more rotation and a bit more speed for 6th to do its job.

Lots of critique about the Genesis VGT in this discussion lately, I didn’t see the same for the Civic TC? Now that’s an awful crap car, FF idiocy. Unable to turn.

Hopefully done with this pathetic car tonight and I’m sure I’ll love and adore the Genesis VGT in comparison.

One valid lap in a sea of red. A bit faster than yesterday, but still need some more time understanding the car.

Soooo… thanks for your post as I now get the knowledge that a Silver time of 1.36.228 only get you so close and that only 3900 people are ahead of you. It definitely gets my hope of aiming for gold out of question…. I am too much aware of my patience and the current train of life is not in my favor to even attempt 😅

Your time is more than decent and I pray you advance to the 3% bracket !

Edit: correction I meant a time of 1:39:211 for Silver not the WR of M. Jedah

I'm glad I can highlight that. However, from yesterday to today, the WR has improved. As @half_sourly 's stats show, a large portion of players clear the required time and move on.

Yesterday, this time was Gold. Today it's Silver. People may not have caught up yet.

But it is still an interesting observation.
 
Before leaving this awesome community for few days off, I've secured* my silver score on Monza (but not too much, as I didn't want to push @PlanetJanet out of the Gold club).

Take care nice people and have fun!



* 1:40.150 with an optimal at 1:40 flat. No motivation to keep pushing (my head is already in the plane).
