Man...you people are posting some really fast time. I'm going to give it one last go today with non-meta. Tomorrow onward is chase best time session (watch me having hard tine getting into the 53s even with meta 🤧)
But what is the meta car Sir Muffin ????🤯🤯🤔🤔
This is a very hard question to answer because everyone takes the car they are fast in. Look at the top 50 in the ranking: there are Ferraris, AMGs, Supras, 650S, Jaguars, Citroëns, RC Fs etc... So we can't say there is a meta for this circuit.
 
I finally drove my first stint in Autopolis yesterday.
I chose the Supra first, as it's the Gr. 4 car I had the most experience with.
The first half of the lap is really fun, but everything after the hairpin is really difficult for me, I just can't find the right flow in the last sectors. I threw away so many good laps in the last corner.

I ended up with a 1:53.249.
A thousandth of a second faster than Kimi, er, a certain Finn called @djolliea.
But I bet that didn't last long.
Maybe I can find another 2 tenths if I can get the last sector under control.

Impressive! I haven't tried the Supra yet because the 650S feels so good. Perhaps I'll give it a shot today and see what it can do. Another car that felt really fast is the Jaaag.

also upgraded to the logitech pro recently (from 923). Yeah...the difference is night and day. The first time I tried it out in the civic TT I was immediately 2/10s faster within 10 laps....so much for the "getting used to it" period.

I feel like the higher the car's limit, the bigger the difference between the wheels. In some of the more powerful cars like F40, Carrera GT etc....I'm a good 15 seconds faster at the nurburgring with the pro wheel.
I had a very similar experience. Had been using a G923 for several years but got the G Pro last summer. The increased fidelity in both braking and steering has definitely helped improve my lap times.

Now I just need to improve my skill so I can compete with some of you guys. Much easier said than done! But the fun is in the trying.

I was away traveling on business for the past few days. I've really enjoyed catching up on this thread with my coffee this morning.

All the discussions of the new TT have really got me jonesing to get out on the track. I might be in the minority, but I kind of like Autopolis, and I'm looking forward to trying it with the variety of seemingly more evenly matched Gr. 4 cars this week.

I'm supposed to do some work this afternoon, but somehow I don't see that happening :lol:
 
After focusing on getting a world record at one of the licence tests ( the mission surprisingly failed 😂😂😂) during the last week, i'm getting unmotivated.
Which license test, if I may ask?
When it comes to licenses , there are no rules. Wall touches, wall grinding , e-brake and clutch are all allowed.

Try the GTR ...very steady and mega out of the slower corners, you can just floor it

Just did 5 laps in the Merc, that was quite fun and a totally different caracter then the GTR ofcours... tailhappy 🤣, did run a 54.0 though, so it's def quicker than the Nissan but a lot more work to be fast 🤣

Ill move to another again when I sub 54 it 🤣

Using the clutch could be difficult with the Pad i guess. 🤔😂
Wallriding is no option and i don't even know which button the e-brake is, last time i used IT was in GT6. 🤪
I prefer slower cars on comforts or sport hard.
But Mr. Holland and Jeddah have messed up the WR times everywhere. 😤😂👍

I think I like this TT more than many others because so many cars are competitive. The selection of cars on the leaderboard is great.

Honestly, I never liked Autopolis as a track but this TT has me changing my mind and now I’m really liking it.

Yes, you can touch walls , just don't hit them too hard. Master A-4 top10 is a perfect example of wallride in Licenses.

The main reason some times seem untouchable is that they were set on different physics (game version) and/or with the use of clutch.

For example , I cannot replicate my B-9 (WR) time in current patch.

And Master B-3 top10 is exclusively clutch users afaik.

I'm talking about the original set of licenses...I did get away with a very tender scrape to the wall, but a bump of any kind would fail the test.
 
I need to find a system at Monza, how can I handle each chicane and corner in a smooth way. While also being aware of my surroundings on the track. I may aim for silver there but gold may be out of reach for me, idk. We'll see what happens the next 4-5 days.
 
Listening to some people praising the 650s in a way that seemed interesting, I did my 10 laps with this car.

I beat my best lap!!!! by 0.001s 🤣

[Edit]Mistake : best lap improve of 0.101s !

But overall I must concede that this car is very nice to drive. And I think my medium lap is better too.

[Edit] Yep, medium lap went down exactly 0.1s, and optimal went really down .3s.

Yes, this is a lot of fun! I went with the Subaru (!) and the Aston to start with the not so obvious choices. Joy and silver. The a first short stint with the Jag and at the Moment gold. Went with Jaaaaaaaag in the Manufacturer Cup and liked it a lot, especially the GR.4.

There is still a lot to try and I will enjoy every day as long as this TT lasts. @ silver turtles: hurry up! 😉

I think I am hitting a mental threshold in the last TT.
Ferrari: 56.0x in 15 laps (first car I tried)
Mclaren: 56.1x in 5 laps
Supra: 56.1x in 15 laps (I barely digest the Supra)
Mercedes: 56.1x in 4 laps

Evidently I am under-utilizing the cars by not understanding where the track would allow more, to which should be added what the track-car combination can allow

I have yet to decide whether to focus on Ferrari or Mercedes, I think the latter which I have never used before and really liked, and see if I can figure out where my head is not working

I switched to triggers for brake and accelerator plus left stick for steering with GTS years ago, took me a few days to get used to it, and NEVER going back, especially with haptic triggers ! Give it a try if you haven't it'll change your life.
Yes. PS5 Dualsense triggers are a complete game changer compared to the dual shock triggers before.

I had already planned to go back to Monza to get a little deeper into Gold territory. After the recent WR improvement, my old time was sitting around 2.9%.

I'm a little surprised that I only needed 10 laps to get it done. I might go back before doing another stint at Autoplolis. The first chicane and exiting Ascari wasn't very good.
