Saturday late night I went back to Autopolis, so technically is TT day 2.

Then I chose the Mclaren 650 S. It had been a long time since I drove it, way back since GTS I guess.... Anyway, I was able to get down to 56.2. A solid silver time, 0.4 away from gold at moment.

From there I drove a small variety of cars (458 Italia, SLS AMG and the Supra). All of them with almost identical results: consistent silver lap times around 56.3 - 56.6. So I think I hit a roadblock there.

Best lap time saved and shared.

Edit: added the in game screenshot, since I learned how to do it.

I've stayed away from this thread for a bit this week as the kitten strikes again 😭😂

So I have had to build a little cupboard to house the wifi and the cables to the tv stand to stop the little f🤬r.

I now have no power plugs for my wifi routers and Sky have decided to use a different size jack plug to those you can buy so will see if I can make one up with the pieces I have left so that I can get onto these two current TT's.

The culprit now being sheepish

Rub some dish soap on the cables.....should stop the kitty from chewing them.

Finally landed in the gold, even if by very little.
The last couple of turns are my weakest, particullary the double right hander.
This is easily visible from the right portion of the first graph.

At the end of the day the only difference between yesterday and today is the timing of the downshift.

This afternoon I've tried 2 other Gr.4, the Citroën and the Supra.

Nice improvement with the Citroën.
Not so much with the Supra that tends to wheelspin easily if throttle is not applied carefuly.

Only managed my top Sector 1 with the Supra.

With the Citroën I did my best lap (-.384), best optimal (-.084) and best medium (-.540).

Optimal with all my top sectors is gold... I am closing in...

Tried out some other cars....

650s....pretty good really. I got a few 54.0s within a few laps...but because the need of shoet shift, it does make gear selection a bit weird.

Jag....eergh....this one is a bit weird, I found it a bit understeery, yet it produce some pretty good time. I got it into the high 54.0s without too much issue.

NSX....drive fine and stuff, but 3rd gear a bit too tall? Can't seem to do the long left sweeper right.

Supra....yeah I can see why it is the meta. It is twitchy for sure, but it works great for the left sweeper and the last sector. I still haven't figure out how to take the 2 hairpins (the SLS is superb at it). I got a couple mid 53.9s....I can probably get into the .7s once I figure out about the hairpins....or with the SLS once I figure out how not to fight the car in the 3rd sector.

Round 3 at Autopolis and this time I first went back to the Viper and improved my time with it around the same consistent times I were clocking before with the previous cars. Around 56.3 -56.6.

Few more laps with the Mclaren and no improvement. On the good side, same consistent lap times.

Then I decided to pick another car just for the sake of test driving it. My choice was the GT by Citroen. And then even with an unexpected and unwanted drift combo in the final corners I got down to 56.1 A couple of laps later I managed to get into the gold window with a 55.7. Barely in, but still gold.

What tool are you using to get those datas and graphs ?
It's the sim-to-motec data gathering plus motec app

Take a look at this tread

If you would do a dedicated thread on how to set it up and use it, that would be great. The thread you mention do not seem to talk specifically about this tool.

Of if you know a resource online.

The github for sim-to-motec does not give a lot of info for a new user.

Will do.
Setup is quite straight forward, while interpreting the data is more tricky and requires some learning curve.
Do not expect too much from me, I'm really starting to learn now, so I see this coming tread a common effort to improve each other the way we are using it, more than a tutorial.

Just allow me some time, I need a pc which I don't have on hand until late today

Well I climbed in the Supra and gave this another 90 minutes and I dropped my time from 1:57.3xx down to 1:56.7xx

I guess that's pretty much my limit...mid-silver times. 8 hours for 2 million credits every 2 weeks is really more than I can afford to give these things unfortunately.

Don't get disappointed, try another car perhaps.
Usually it works this way :

You try as hard you can but no significant improvement, even if you play 90 minutes or 9 hours you won't get better so leave it for another day.
Sometimes you will be surprised with the difference from one day to another.

Yesterday i was at 59s !!! whatever i try ,
today i change car-s and am at 56's without run more than 20 minutes and is a track that am not familiar with .

Oh I'm not really dissappointed lol. It is what it is. I've put hours into previous TTs as well and so far the closest I've gotten to gold is about 4 tenths off. It's absolutely true what you say - happened to me today even. I was stuck at 1:57.059 for about 30 minutes. Took a break for 10 minutes and did a couple things around my place and came back and immediately set the 1:56.7 time. It's weird how it works. But at some point I have to just say "OK that's all I can spend on this." It comes down to how many hours in a week I have for GT7, how many hours I need to spend grinding to try and get the car collection done (because I'd like to get that out of the way asap so I can just enjoy the game the way I want to) and then how many are left to do game stuff like time trials and just general "virtual track days" at Nord which is ultimately what I enjoy most about the game. Being within 4% of the fastest time in the world isn't so terrible.

I might still give it a bit more time though. We'll see how it goes...

I finally did it! Last night I went back to Monza and the awful Genesis.

Gran Turismo® 7_20240203214627.jpg

I think what helped was that I adjusted my CSL Elite V2 pedals. They were set up with 85,85,85 elastomers but with the soft spring and a 70 brake force setting and this gave a feel that was a bit progressive. Generally I liked it but it was not working with this hypercar. I change the spring to the strong and upped the brake force to 80 and recalibrated. It became much more linear and shorter travel. This meant that the braking would be much more instant in my application allowing me to hit braking marks better and control pressure a bit better. Not sure I could do this regularly as it does put a bit of a strain on the ankle but it allowed me to brake better and I think that gave me more control in the corners.

Then again, perhaps it was all placebo? 🤷‍♂️

I can relate a lot.

For the grinding aspect, I finally gave in to the magic rubberband, during the glitch time with the Abarth, and after that with a Honda Beat and two tuning sheets, both at Daytona against 19 nuttered Tomahawks. That way the car was winning credits by itself and when the few time I can give to this game was on, I only did funnier things than grinding.

That's a very good thing to not have to think about earning credits, it burnt out me twice in the past and I've had two 6 months hyatus playing the game since release.

In the end, I still don't have/want to spend plenty of time on this game, so it is often around 30min per day and a bit more on some days. I do the weeklies quickly, I try to have 10 laps per day on the current TT, the one of the two availables that I enjoy the most (I am happy if I can get silver on both), and I use a bit of time here and there to progress in the events I have not finished (if said event is in weeklies it is a win-win), at CEs or trying to gold licenses.

And it'll take me years before I'll achieve golding the regular licenses and CEs (if I succeed). By this time GT8 will probably be out 😅

My only hope is that by practicing TTs every week, I'll improve and with time I'll get better times with less hours driving. When I see people getting gold in a few laps, it always astound me 🤯at the moment I can get silver in a few laps in some TTs, months ago it was the case for bronze times, so... there is progress 😁

Man, that Genesis VGT doesn't hose around, does it? Feels like I hit 200mph before I know it. I can only imagine the Gs one would feel if it were a real car. Almost reminds me of a story I heard about the Toyota TS010, where it actually broke a driver's ribs. Definitely hoping we get a Gr.1 version of the Genesis, sort of like how we later got the Jaguar VGT SV and Jaguar VGT Roadster.

Today I tried the AMG.
But I couldn't match my times with the Supra.
So I went back to the Supra and immediately felt more comfortable.
I was also able to achieve a small improvement relatively quickly.

My best time is now 1:53.201.
Unfortunately, I messed up the last corner again, so there are still 2 tenths in it.

I did first the griding part since i wasn't aware that i can do the TT's without having ps plus 😂 and now i can do whatever i like .
Also coming straight from gt6 i wasn't familiar with enough tracks and am not still cause i really hate some of them.

Hope to get the gold and if not , it's good and the one million.

Great ! Do as you can, anything that can help understand generalities would be cool.
Here we go

It's work in progress, so let's progress togheter :)

Inspired by some of you on this thread, decided to give the Citroen GT a go after struggling to break into 1:53's in the Supra and McLaren.

In just the 8th lap in the Citroen, 1:53.7! Found it so much more stable than the Supra and much less understeery than the McLaren. Do give it a try if you aren't feeling either.

Here is the lap in action, was actually a pretty conservative lap but maybe it's the reason of it being good?

I switched to triggers for brake and accelerator plus left stick for steering with GTS years ago, took me a few days to get used to it, and NEVER going back, especially with haptic triggers ! Give it a try if you haven't it'll change your life.
Believe me, I've tried for years, and I just can't get used to it. I use the stick for steering, and buttons for accel/brake, but also have the triggers programmed for accel/brake to use them at certain times. I imagine if I forced myself to change I could do it, but I'm not so into that.

Had a couple of sessions this morning - tried the SLS and the M4 - that’s an interesting car! Managed to get into the mid 54’s but essentially you’re trying to judge when to change gear as soon as the rev counter shows the first square of red in the left!

Went back to the McLaren for a short second session, and while I didn’t quite go quicker over a single lap, I’ve managed to pull half a second out of my optimals and see a clear path to get into the 53’s. Haven’t tried the Citroen yet @AdxRE, but it sounds very promising 👍

Just secured gold for the Monza TT.

Can I just say...what on Tellus were the developers thinking? The car is so much worse than what djolliea described. I knew he wouldn't exaggerate when he said 5th gear for exits, but I still had to wait and see for myself...yup, this car has too much power for its own good

The best part was when I checked what tires the car was using, for the first time. Imagine my shock when I realized the car was on soft tires... :boggled:

Tried out some other cars....

650s....pretty good really. I got a few 54.0s within a few laps...but because the need of shoet shift, it does make gear selection a bit weird.

I did 10 laps in the Supra and don't understand a thing of it .....😂 S1 is a real delight with it, and was immediately faster then I have ever been, S2 .....so much power to pull it through the left hander after the hairpin.... mega fast.....but then come the third sector .....it does drift though...... 😂😂

I can indeed see that you could be fast with it.....but it's not that easy as I hoped it would be 😂, maby ill implement a morning Supladuppa session to get to know the car a bit cause it's lively af. 😂
