I had a shortish session last night in the AMG around Autopolis. Having previously only managed one timed lap, (a mid-range silver) I wanted to get some laps under my belt and get a decent time logged. Annoyingly, I was sitting on a low 55, but I made some big losses in the final sector and ended up only improving to a 56.2XX. I ran out of time to keep going and improve (instead just ran red after red while trying too hard, and probably over-driving the car in the process) so I'll need to find time to get a solid session in and secure a gold time. I know I can with this car, I just need to find some time to commit to it.

EDIT: Has anyone got links to the MCA, Kie or Tidgney lap guides for this one?

Gained a bit over the weekend - sorry!

I'm feeling similar. Might leave it and have one last go on Wednesday, we'll see. Certainly won't be today as I've got my usual Monday PC2 racing club.

I started off with TC2 and TC1 on the first few days, but have since gone to zero. As long as you are in the right gear, pointing more or less forward and not too harsh with the right foot, there isn't much wheelspin. But it is a fine line; every now and then out of Rettifilo (first chicane) I'll get wheelspin in 5th because my steering is just slightly too angled.
Congratulations, there’s no need to be sorry! I had the same process with the TCS but my best time I did with the TCS and I think I can win something without TCS but you have to complete the lap 😅

Thanks @half_sourly.

Either the best ghost or your own. If you struggle with the best, make it reset. I would say use your own for a while until you feel impossible to beat yourself, then use the best ghost + your own combined and observe the ghosts and see where you can work on to improve
What do you have as a distance to ghost?

@half_sourly can you please bring me results of last 10 Time Trials, so I can see how long was my gold streak - Monza will be silver, sadly...

Sadly, it seems mine will be in silver too, gonna try the next 3 days but man it's been such a pain in the ass. And the time got cut again so it's even lower now. Didnt even try the new TT yet as I focus entirely on this one but yeah no success so far. And the frustrating part is that I'm not that far from it.

My "best" sectors is in 38 but I just can't seems to put that lap together. No matter how many laps I try.

Dear Supra.....

We had a date this morning.....
We ride together.....
We slide together.....
You have a descent booty..... a real nice ass..
A little squirly when early on the gas....
300km today to feel your power...
but no improvement after more than a hour......

I file divorce now......it ain't going to work honey, no second date.....

It's beautifull..... but it Sooooo doesn't suit my driving style....
I wanted it to do this morning and i tried so hard, best i could do after 300km was a 53.980 with it...
were i am consistent 8 and 9's with the SLS, so i think i'm going to stick with that...
I can see why it's the META cause i am A LOT quicker through T1 with the Sup..... and the left uphil after the first hairpin is hugely faster in the Sup, but for me... the rest of the lap is to squirly....don't know if it's a "wheel" thing but i just can't get the power down on exits.

So... @Evilmuffin this is def. your trial, if you master the sup i'm not going to catch you
and @Carlos Fandango congrats with that awesom time you clocked in this morning, you are getting faster and faster!

Like Muffin said.... it's bizar how fast the top split is, we are just over 1% and we are only fighting in the top 300...
that's insane....
Thanks @Gomario JSP. I tried the Supra as well, but in the brief relationship we had, it tried to kill me too many times. At that point I think my right foot was calibrated to something with a little more traction. If I’d have started with the Supra and stayed in it I probably could have got there, and I remember last time this was a daily race I used the Supra to good effect, but not this time. Ultimately it’s probably quicker over a lap than the McLaren, just not with me driving it 😂

Tried to improve my time with the Genesis because my gold is 2,96% now... What a horrible mistake. @EbrahimX7 please don't push this any further 😅

Edit:

Okay, new favorite for Autopolis. LOVE the 155 there and entered the 1:54's 😍 feel like i might go bottom 54 with this. It's handling and braking is superb!

You are not alone. It has been and continues to be for me, the most enjoyable TT in a while. It is a challenge, but one that can be overcome with patience, accuracy and a steady right foot. I did 50 miles last Thu at Autopolis to just post a gold time, but have since done many hundreds of miles at Monza. Loving it.
I definitely need to go back to Monza and the Genesis as well after my trip and spending the weekend with Autopolis.

Question is whether I'll remember anything about how to drive it :)

But I agree, I was starting to get the idea of how to drive this car on SS tires before I left, and I think there's still some time out there for me... which, judging by recent changes in the top times, I'm going to need!

Yesterday I didn't think it was possible. But in-between Genesis X tiger maulings, magic happened.

I had time for a 20 lap stint. By lap 9 I had best my old PB. A 1:38.379 had tempted me to call it good. But I pushed on.

10 more laps go by and I almost made my miracle lap. 1:37.909 ... I hit almost every sector perfect for me. My only problem was a very hairy exit from Ascari. The tiger almost got me, but I managed to keep it together and survive the lap.

And the replay.

I think I'm finished at Monza.

Not the quickest times, but only spent around 300km on each as of now.

Have only tried the Supra at Autopolis and it works pretty good. Definitely improvable lap with a bit of smoother driving. Tends to slide, yet so much fun :)

After coming to terms with the Genesis, it's really not that bad at all, even with TCS off. Might get this under 1:38 if I get a clean lap in.

10 more laps at AP with yet another recommended car : the Alfa 😅

At first it felt like it was getting up to speed like an old diesel, but after a few laps, I got the hang of it and began getting usual lap times.

And a few laps later, I improved my best lap.

And there is some margin.

Best lap : 1:56.408 -> 1:56.119 :D

Optimal not better than previous one with the Citroën

Medium time : 1:57.990 -> 1:57.209 :D

Overall optimal in gold... getting closer...

Decided to try out some different cars just for fun.

Tried the s15 again....yeah nope, can't get any decent time off of it.

Aston Martin....fairly similar to the Corvette, I can't seem to get the car to turn.

WRX and the Alfa 155 are surprisingly good. Powering out of those hairpins is extermely good with these 2 cars. But again....the understeery nature of the 4wd (more so in the Alfa) just kills them in the 3rd sector. I got them both to the low 54.1s. With some work, I can probably get them into the 53s.

Going to try a few more cars after dinner.

It's done. 😮‍💨
I mean, hopefully.

I am almost ashamed that I went back to Monza after letting everyone know (repeatedly) how much I hated it. But this little spike in my performance was bothering me more than I'd like to admit 😂

I owe at least 60% of that gold to @GlockPants ghost (the 1:38.625 one), so thanks for sharing! This brought me within striking distance, but I was still half a second off. Then I watched @Tidgney's replay again and noticed how I was stupidly engine-braking like crazy down to 2nd before the first chicane where he just smoothly shifts down to 4th and stays there, which is not only faster, but also way easier to pull off consistently. So thanks as well!

Every streak breaks at some point, so was my at Monza that will follow...
Don't give up! As you can see, my streak started at TT 53 as well. If I can do it, so can you!

(I realise that this post is going to age very poorly if I drop to silver :D)

One final push at Monza (I didn't want to put if off until the last day tomorrow) and finally, finally! I get the sub 38 I was aiming for. As helpful as it was to have TC at 1 earlier, I could definitely get through the corners faster with TC 0. It made Ascari a heck of a lot easier. I just had to be extremely careful and patient with the throttle. This TT can be put to bed and I can get back to Autopolis.

I was starting to lose my mind with all the low 38's. I still didn't have a great sector 1 on my fast lap, but the others made up for it.

And frustratingly right under @Gomario JSP after all is said and done! :irked::lol:

I may have to call it quits here at Monza, I've tried numerous times and I cannot get my time below 1'41.000, so I guess I'll have to take bronze here. For now. It's just too fast and powerful to get a handle on, it's like raising a kid of your own, xD.

I had another go at Monza. After 250+ miles I was questioning my sanity. I kept on getting within thousandths of my prior (not safe) gold but wasn’t beating it. 90% of laps were getting invalidated. I was pushing too hard and over driving.

About to give up I pulled out a beer (non-alcoholic of course - can’t be drinking and driving now!). It was citrusy and refreshing.

I short while later I got this.

Only took 284 miles. Hopefully this one should be safe now, as long as @EbrahimX7 doesn’t put it in the 35s.

In my attempts I kept on putting a wheel on the grass and spinning out. I usually drive roof cam but for this I was doing bumper and I don’t know the width of the car. I figured it out by lining the car against the track and marking my TV.

You may laugh but it works!

The outside edge of the tachometer and the speedometer are pretty accurate. 🍻
I use bumper cam all the time and use them for a reference 🍻
