Step 1: go from bronze to Silver, complete. Surprised by this Lexus, it's really nice in the turns and can keep up with the Genesis on the straights. I really need to get the hang of the curved sections, both up and downhill to get gold, but it doesn't feel impossible :-)

You have to be brave my friend 😅

I thought I was ....... 😂😂

Nothing to declare (for now)

Tens of laps in a range of 55.0xx to 55.2xx this morning and I'm still knocking on the door of the "Sub 1:55" Club.

I've watched @Tidgney video to improve my large left curve and it's better but not yet perfect (once again, thanks so much for your help).

My optimals are regularly from 1:54.7xx to 1:54.9xx so I'll keep pushing until I can string my best sectors in the same lap.

Happy saturday and week-end, folks

How much time should i be spending in each sector? I'm asking so I can get an idea of if I'm in the gold range. This is for MP. I've got a few days to chop down more of my time at AP, so that can wait until Monday or Tuesday.

EDIT: If any of you have a good car suggestion that checks all of the boxes, feel free to tell me. The boxes are:

Speed, good braking power, precision, agility, smoothness and good at trail braking.

No offense Chris, but this might be too steep a hill for you to climb...you can be happy with silver.

The RCZ is definitely a decent choice, being a very stable and consistent car to drive.

Take a look at the CE sectors, this will gives you a good idea. But I agree with @TumeK5 about golding this TT.

And IMHO, the 911 clearly checks all these boxes.

Man im having a hard time on evil mountain...
And the worst part of it all....... for me, it's the last sector that kills me everytime .... threw somany faster laps away on the very last corner.... not even funny, I realy have to master that one 🙈

Fun, but very difficult one! (altho for me 🙈)
I also get mad when trow away the lap at the very last corner, or trow it away in the same place in the launch sector.
That shouldn't be the difficult piece, or at least less difficult than the hill
But still I really like the TT, even tough reacing silver will be difficult.

BTW these are not scary walls, these are scared walls.... sometimes you don't have event to touch them to get a red lap, or at least this is my feeling

Wow, that's supersonic!!!

Study the current top lap replays and note the times they make for each sector. From there you can meter your performance. Keep in mind these people are very fast, and even a Gold time can be a few seconds slower than them.

But as @TumeK5 suggests, this is a difficult TT. Don't feel discouraged if you're unable to nail Gold here. But keep at it! Any progress is good.

Agreed, gold is out of the question here for me too - I'd be pretty happy with a silver. I'm in silver for the moment, but I'm still not that far from a bronze, which indicates that silver is my limit this time around.

-

My current medal breakdown is quite pleasingly 'rounded' - 10 🥇20 🥈20 🥉 - I notched up a bunch of bronzes before getting into the TTs more regularly, but there are still some TTs where I can only muster a bronze, esp. if it's an unusual car like the Monza / Genesis one.

Anything Gr.2/3/4, however, should be a silver for me - possible gold if it's a favourite circuit (Spa, Suzuka, Autopolis, Watkins Glen, Le Sarthe), but also a possible bronze if it's not one of my best (too many to name 😅, but MP and esp. the Tokyo tracks I find very difficult).

I totaly seconds this message, as gold is clealry not for me at Mt Panorama.
If I got a solid silver (I'm 2 secs. away from silver), I'll be more than happy.

First test in Panorama Mountain with the RSR and my time is at 2'05'115 !!!!😱😱😱. I will have a lot of work on this circuit to gain 4 to 5 seconds to hope for gold

Based on how fast you normally are, I reckon you will make it to gold, keep pushing. :)

I think we all had this initial reaction of shock with this one, ages since I've been so far away from Gold after the first try.

The walls at both make it so hard to judge turn in. I always feel at the beginning of a time trial or difficult race at either of those locations that it's impossible but somehow I manage to chip away until it's manageable, if not very difficult. I know everyone has a different experience, though, and it's so rewarding to finally get it right when at times it feels so tough.

I will say I am by far the worst with GR3 in this game and ALWAYS have been. I'm fast in GR4 and I feel and have always felt that my fastest cars are GR2 and occasionally GR1 when it's a good track and car combo. It has always driven me (haha punny guy) crazy that there is such a focus on GR3 cars in the series because of my lack of talent with them. It's always a frustrating struggle with these cars. I guess it's the super twitchy and fine line nature of them. Not quite enough downforce to overcome the high power low weight road car turned race car.

I'm not surrendering, I have that 01s if everything goes well...
Monza split my gold streak, but there will be gold at Autopolis again, why not Bathurst too...?
But there is crucial part - aliens improvements, if they go wild, then gold is out of reach.

I am trying the RCZ as @TumeK5 and it is much more stable than the Porsche RSR. I was able to improve my time to 2'03'791 with an optimal time of 2'03'126 and get the silver. But I still have a big gap left to reach 2'01 and get gold. I'm thinking of taking the Genesis for a few spins even though it's not my ideal car. And do like everyone else 🤣🤣

Started out at MP with the BMW M6 and got 2:05.***

Tried the Genesis and got to 2:03.3**

Gave the VGT VW a go and managed 2:03.5** although it seemed much better to drive.

Jumped back in the Genesis and ended up with 2:02.8** think I'm done with silver on this one which will brake my long running gold streak but I just have no motivation at all on this one even though I love the track I just don't like these slippery cars on it. 😔

I don't know if it is true in this case, as I no longer use that method. In the thread "Things That Annoy You", I whined about the fact that on many Time Trials the sectors are different than the CE sectors. On some tracks there are even a different amount of sectors!
I simply changed my process to start with watching the current World Record and writing the sector times down on a white board for reference. I then multiply the sector time by 1.03 to get the equivalent time needed for gold.
Of course, if I was any good, none of that would be required,

Snuck into silver down under but still maybe a second there if I can hook it up.

Messed up The Cutting as ever (never got that one nailed), had to dab the brakes rather than lift through Frog Hollow and was on the anchors too early for the final bend (trying Tidgney’s tree as the marker but still not locked in).

No way I can find 2.3 seconds for a gold though so I’ll go back to Autopolis and try to make that one more secure.

Well my first lap is done at MP, clocked a time of 2'10.539. You all are right, I'm most likely going to aim for silver on this. I had a time with MP's own CE, the lap attack there I earned a bronze medal in. I'm using the Porsche RSR like Pesselies did, it did check most of the boxes and it's a quick flexible car to drive.

Ok now on my second lap, clocked in 2'09.121
Yes, I'm at bronze!!

I must say this is far easier than the wonky Masarti MC '20 TT we had last summer.

In the middle of a heat wave here down south and this time trial is really making me sweat. I love the difficulty though. Every slight improvement brings a smile!
The amount of bravery needed for the up and downhill section is just astonishing. Not just to get close to the wall, but the bravery needed to pin the throttle down when every fiber of your being telling you the rear of the car won't take the torque
I know exactly what you guys mean. It's just such an intense experience, especially in VR. Really turns up the heart rate.

Second session for me in the Genesis X, this time following Tidgney's ghost. I'm a bit over half a second off gold now, and I know I can pull it off. Would like to try other cars as well as the Genesis isn't really my jam, but with the extremely limited time I can spend on this TT, I have to commit to one car, and the meta is the logical choice. It's a shame really.

I'm 7 seconds away from your time, my goal is silver, but I need to do better on Sectors 2 and 3. Those are the big obstacles to improve on. For me, idk about the rest of the gang.
