Well, I decided to do like the others and get behind the wheel of the Genesis so as not to feel excluded and I was able to go under the 2'02 mark with a time of 2'02'902 and a optimal time of 2'02'613. But it's still not the gold medal 🥵🥵

Almost there
Going to take a break from it now. Will get back to it later. Boy is this a work out. My arms and shoulders are broken after 350km.

OMG 0.011... to gain for gold

I can't even imagine the efforts needed to score below 2:02. Insane!
But we all know that the Bocks never back down, so you'll succeed soon!

This time trail is a tough one but I really am enjoying wrestling the Genesis around Bathurst.

😁 Yes our Bokke always make us proud... unfortunately cannot say the same about our football/soccer team.

Thanks for the motivation. Hopefully will nail it soon!

Goodluck bro.. keep pushing its possible!

Finally I manage to do consistent and clean laps and 314 kms to further improve my time to 2'02'391 with an optimal time of 2'02'289 but not yet fast enough to get gold. But I will get there

I know you're going to tell me that this isn't a gold medal video, but I struggled so much on a circuit that I don't particularly like and with a car that I don't really control, that I I wanted to share it with you 🤣🤣🤣

You are almost there. You can definitely get on the throttle earlier at a lot of places. Don't have to be 100% but at less get some partial throttle in earlier to keep up the minimum speed.

If there is one place for big improvement, it is at the beginning of going down hill. You HAVE to be brave and brake very late. You can get really close to the gantry before you hit the brake....but you have to have the car point at the right direction or you will just die 🤧

I did another couple of 6-7 lap sessions, one using the AMG GT3 '20 and another back in the Genesis.

I prefer the AMG GT3 but although I was getting close to my best (my optimal in the AMG was almost identical to my fastest lap time), I figured I should stick to the Genesis if I wanted to make any improvement. So I switched back to the Genesis and managed a small improvement to 2:03.249 - still no chance of a gold here, but at least it is a bit further inside the silver time.

Boy is this thread active right now. Can’t keep up with all the posts lol.

I suck a bit less now, but still suck a lot.

I improved my time to 2:02.474 and have an optimal that might mean I can make gold. However I then spent several hours after this and completely failed to make progress. Oh, those walls. Those damn, damn walls….

Oh I did the tape thing again and that helped with the walls. The Genesis-X is narrower than the VGT Genesis.

Did some compatarive session with Genesis and Porsche. Even tough by now my best is with Genesis, I still prefer the Porsche, since I feel more confortable in the up-down hill. On the other side I'm leaving time in the first section and in the back straight.

I think I will stick to Porsche, I like it more, from many standpoints, last but not least its design
I'd like to have a good ghost to chase but I didn't find any with a friendly name on it.

Just thought I'd look at the accuracy of my predictions since we started covering the Time Trials and putting predictions in...

Track/Car - Prediction 1/2 - Actual
Tokyo/NISMO 400R - 1'22.999 - 1'23.205
Lake Louise/GR Yaris - N/A - N/A
Daytona/992 GT3 - N/A - N/A
Big Willow/Gr.3 - N/A - N/A
Watkins Glen/Alpine A110 - N/A - N/A
Kyoto/Bugatti Gr.1 - 1'17.500 - 1'17.606
Deep Forest/Mustang - 1'46.999/1'46.799 - 1'46.978
Fuji/Gr.2 - 1'28.999 - 1'28.988
Spa/Alfa 4C - 2'41.999/2'42.399 - 2'42.529
Trial Mountain/Supra - 1'53.500/1'53.399 - 1'53.422
Nurb GP/RX-8 - 2'23.999 - 2'24.003
Maggiore/Civic - 1'29.400 - 1'29.494
Monza/Genesis VGT - 1'38.899 - 1'38.899
Autopolis/Gr.4 - 1'55.899/1'55.699 - 1'55.852
Bathurst/Gr.3 - 2'01.000 - 2'01.739

Not bad :D Even those where I've lowered the prediction after one week have been only a few hundredths below the initial one...

So do I but not this week. You are faster than me in general and can do this as I have a 2.01.4xx with TC:1 👍
I did 2'02'391 with TC at 1. The problem is that I did this time without using a ghost. Maybe that's my mistake in not using a ghost. With TC at 0, I am on average 2'02'4xx. I'm not fast enough in the downhill corners. Faster than you??? 🤣🤣🤣 maybe not this time, because it's a circuit that I don't really like and the Wallabies have put too many walls on this circuit 🤣🤣

No with Genesis. With RCZ and others Gr.3 I don't use TC

I'm almost there !!!! 🤣🤣🤣. I feel like I'm at full tilt and actually on the descent I don't dare too much because the walls scare me !!!! 😱😱
But I will try and hope that the Genesis airbags work well !!!! 🤣🤣

For the mental health of my bevoled friends :sly:, I left temporarly Autopolis for the Australian bush.

After few laps with the RSR, I've also tried the RCZ (recommanded by @TumeK5 and @Jeje6410 ) and the meta Genesis. I have to admit that this car is fast but I don't like it and I can't explain why. Maybe it's cultural, its sedan look, I really don't know.

Otherwise, the circuit is great, the environment is awesome (the sun light is perfectly designed) and the driving skills required are very high. Being brave is not enough here, you must also have a very large pant... :odd:

Tomorrow, I'll try to gold the CE with the Mc Laren (min 2:05.000) as I'm close to the white medal (+0.3 sec) on the TT. But as soon as I'll find the entrance of the silver mine, I'll left this hostile country!!
For good.

For those who are in gold here, you have my eternal admiration!!

As I feared, this will be another hard TT. Currently sitting on 2.02:808 with an ideal time of 2.01:324. So I can do it but getting all the sectors on the same laps is pretty challenging. And if you're off a tiny bit, your lap probably gonna be red.

Contrary to the Monza one which was kinda annoying, I do enjoy the challenge and since the autopolis TT was done super quick, I can focus a bit on this one. But damn that downhill section is tricky, you can save/loose so much time there, at least for me.

Managed to join the 2:02:xxx club 🔥 it absolutely felt like the perfect lap, i didn't watch the time and it really felt like gold - no mistakes were made. So now i'm not sure if gold is possible. Will give it another go tomorrow, 350km is enough for today :-)

I almost talked myself out of a stint today. But I had plenty of time, so Day 3 at Mount Panorama.

The session felt terrible. Out of 20 laps, only 5 valid. In spite of the wall's best efforts, I somehow made progress. Still no Gold, but my optimal lap is a 2:01.3xx and I can usually get within one or two tenths from my best. Given enough time to work for it, anyway.

If I can't get Gold by Thursday, I'm switching to the Meta Genesis.

With plenty of time left to put laps in the Land Down Under, I made my way back north to the Land of the Rising Sun in hopes of some improvement before that TT ends. After trying out the Jaaag for the first time and giving the SLS another go, I wasn't feeling it. The Jag handled nicely enough, but I could only run a 54.2 and felt in no way I would be able to gain another 4 or 5 tenths in it. I was surprised by my stint in the SLS, because I was able to get into the 53's with it a few days ago. Like the Jag, however, I was stuck with 54.2's today. I lost my mojo with it. :indiff: Well, I know the Citroen is fast. So back into the French machine I went. Immediately I was posting 54.0's. Despite some obvious mistakes, I easily set my personal best. With that said, you win this round, @Gomario JSP. Holy moly what a lap you put in with the 53.4!

Get in tight to the inside wall at Forrest Elbow so you can get on the power much sooner. That alone will be nearly enough to get you to gold.

Guess I was wrong....I am faster with the meta car for this one. Dropped my best time about 4/10th's and my optimal lap about 2/10th's (now 2:00.627) that I ran with the Supra. Able to run more consistent laps with the Genesis it seems too. A bit frustrating as I couldn't crack 2:00.xx in this session. I know it's doable as I had probably 1/2 dozen laps that were on pace and I always would screw it up in the last sector negating the lap.

Tonight I decided to lap AP with the 458 until I enter gold.

Just before trying, I went to have a look at @Pesselles 1:55.200 replay, to check how he goes around some corners where I still don't have a clue. It did not hinted me much in my "how should I pass through here" turns, but I was shocked to discover that he's just coasting in the last 2 turns (where I brake at least slightly and maintain throttle longer).

So I did my first (at least) 10 laps trying to replicate this way of getting through those turns until I figured out up to what point I had to stay on throttle before lifting. But it did not pay in terms of lap times, so I went back to my previous technique and continued to lap.

Lap times got down in the 1:56s and suddenly a 1:55 appeared !! And another one shortly after !

🤩

So in the end, of course new best lap time and gold (although fragile...) and new best optimal at 1:55.198

Sector 1 : not improved
Sector 2 : improved by 0.010s
Sector 3 : improved by 0.353s

Too bad I butchered S2 during my best lap, it would have been a very secure gold.

Ranking of cars / lap times / nb of laps :
  • Ferrari 458, with 1:55.755 (40 laps)
  • Alfa 155, with 1:56.119 (2x10 laps)
  • Citroën with 1:56.305 (2x10 laps)
  • McLaren 650S with 1:56.689 (10 laps)
  • NSX with 1:56.739 (10 laps)
  • Silvia with : 1:56.790(first 2x10 laps)
  • Supra with 1:56.852 (10 laps)

130 laps so far.

Went to Bathurst next, just to try the new TT, well there is a lot of work ahead... First lap 2:12 invalidated, second lap 2:11. Bronze will be relatively easy, but silver...
