Did a 20 lap stint at Daytona.

Made a little bit of progress, getting into the Top 500 by a good amount.

What would be the new gold margin now at Daytona?
0:35.818 is the Gold threshold now.

Gave it another 20 laps after seeing the threshold was lowered. Dropped my time at first by .001 to 35.778, then finally to 35.758. Easily half my runs were invalidated.

Now my girlfriend has seen me trying, and she wants to try. She got 3.816 after about 20 attempts, and now she wants to try with no resistance. never showed interest in this game before haha.

Might be time to take the next step in your relationship and go ring shopping.
Been married 15+ years and I can’t get my wife to even try my racing wheel.
It’ll just make your life easier later on, trust me.

After spending far too much time on this trying to stay in the top 100 and vying for that new alien badge from @half_sourly I finally hope I am safe now. Of course I forgot to save my in game replay.

All right, I can see I'm going to have to come to terms with the curbs. I mostly avoid them because they either throw me into a wall or just flip me over lol. You're also shifting a bit earlier (coming out of the first corner) than I have been. I pretty much always hit the limiter because it's seemed like I lose a lot of speed if I don't. But man, I don't know how you keep it pointed in the right direction through the right handers.

I am just trying to make sure I don't hit the limiter. Hitting the limiter must slow you down? Turn 7, the right hander I never go for the grass/curb but got lucky this time. I found that braking first and delaying my downshift to third left the car more stable vs braking and downshifting at the same time. The last sequence of turns are still a crapshoot. 1/100 chance of getting it right.

My attempt on the Dyson VGT on Daytona tonight. It was all about micro-managing the steering input for the entire lap and be smooth as possible while doing that, up until a point where you can feel the double yellow line (where the banking joins the flat surface) actually helps the car to turn. Quite an interesting experience I would say 🙂

Managed several 35.60X but this was the best so far.

All I want is 1:04s!!!

I put a LOT of time, probably 30 laps or so, into Sardegna with the Dino today, and I can NOT get into the 1:04s. I'm at the wall where I can string together low 1:05s over and over, but I am just not making the changes needed to nail it. That left kink at the top of the hill is my kryptonite, and any amount of oversteer here absolutely kills momentum and time. The final left-right at the end is a ball-buster too. I have had way too many laps blown by making mistakes at these two spots.

I'm at a 1:05.106 at the moment... right there. Gonna have to take a break from it for a bit and regroup, haha.

Yeah yeah yeah, also did the Daytona TT and got my fastest time on the second lap, running a 35.638. My goal was just to be in the top 1000, and this put me at 547 which was nice, haha.

This is an interesting TT in the way the numbers play out, there are 18 people ahead of me with the exact same time down to the thousandth! I put in 10 or so more laps and had a super hard time staying on the yellow when coming off a corner. When your arms are tensed so hard against the wheel it's hard to reel it out smoothly, and I kept turning in to much and running inside the line. I didn't change any of my settings, and the FFB was waaay stronger than I think I've ever felt out of my T300.

Not much else to say here, but it was more fun than I thought it would be. The forearm pump is REAL.

I'll report back when I GET THAT 1:04.

First of all...

@Dan_Tes

This was NOT the deal.......🤣
Megalap mate, I tried to get closer to you this morning but didn't hit a thing right and I'm beginning to be frustrated on Sardegna, I thought about expanding my weekly only push due to the line staring shenanigan on Dayton which is a funaral for me on controller.... but dont know if I can find extra time and motivation on the Dino, prob end up in the place 120 or something.

I honestly don't know how you can be soo fast on a controller.
Also, I clocked a 1'07.504 with the Dino so I'll be posting that video here too.
Hooray!

@Gomario JSP and @Dolph Drago are two of the fastest pad players here. On top of that, one of them do it remotely and the other without heptic feedback :odd:

Here I am with a G Pro wheel, a rig and PSVR2 and I had to work like hell to get ahead of them (not all the time!) 🤧

Turn 4. Man, if you hit it just right, it propels you to the finish line. I had a very so-so turns 1-2 and a poor entrance into turn 3. But I managed to plant my car perfectly on the line when I dropped back down onto the apron midway through turns 3-4. I was stunned as a I watched myself gain over half a tenth alone by the time I got to the line. Just crazy how big of a difference it makes. Sadly, I'm sure I'll be back outside the top 1,000 by the time this is posted (I set the lap 3 hours ago).

To be fair, the honor of fastest pad player here probably goes to @NAXEHT. And he usually doesn't even set a time until hours before the TT ends.

So I mentioned in an earlier post today that I'd set a time of 1:05.922 (a tenth off gold) last week in the Dino and that after hundreds of laps I'd not been able to get back below 1.06 since. Well boys, tonight I got below 1:06 again. After probably another 100 laps I posted a 1:05.95x. Not a new best time, but a step in the right direction. Then, a few laps later I got round the first corner up a couple tenths on that and by the end of the esses I was almost 3 tenths up. I took the first right-hander in decent shape but still bled off a couple tenths of that but I nailed the second right hander! Came out well on the throttle and gained back those tenths so I went into the final turn about .250 seconds up on my session best. I lost much of that going round the turn but I got the angle right and was on the gas really early. Exiting the final turn I was up .020 on my session best, and I was fully on the throttle and still carrying some speed. I watched as that little blue number started to climb...and it was climbing in nice big chunks! .020, then .060 .095...and I knew I had it... :D

That was a very very fun final stretch! lol...

I also improved my time at Daytona a bit.

I think, maybe these times will stick. I sure hope so...because I don't think there's anything left for me in either lol.
