Ah, alas, it seems like my gold time for the time trial featuring the Dino at Sardegna didn't hold, so I got silver. Didn't have time to get around to the Chaparral VGT @ Daytona time trial, either. So to hopefully make up for it, I set a silver time for both the current time trials - though I will say the one with the McLaren VGT @ Suzuka was quite tough!

Some good improvement at Suzuka, currently at 1.40.461
The snake is obviously difficult, but there are other places where I feel I may do better.
Degner, i don't have a reference, every lap feels different (but petfectly identical for the pants)
Spoon, the second part is very tentative

I don't have gold aspirations, but couple of tenths may be achievable.
I also realized that I'm in stock livery, so improvement should be kind of granted with new colors

Here is my lap, i appreciate if you would like to take a look at it

Not a bad lap at all mate!, im not realy in the position to give any advice on this one 🙈 I am barely into gold 🙈 but....

After the S'es try to find the left curb uphill you still have a lot of room there plus you also have a lot of room on the exit, means you can go a lot faster thru there!

Second spot where you can def find time is Spoon, you can take that a lot faster, by staying a little longer on the right en use second gear to rotate and find the inner left curb, then quickly to 4th and exit in 4th should give you a lot of extra speed.

Nice lap!

@EbrahimX7 Since you don't have anything to prove, why did you stop sharing the replay of your best time ?
First I thought it was because you wanted to share a "perfect" lap, but it doesn't seems so.
This is a community aspect that I like a lot, progress, by learning from the top ranked drivers.
Whenever I discover something outside the box I hide it. I get annoyed when I get copied in 1 minute when I spend hours discovering stuff. If you were in my shoes you would understand 😅. If the lap has nothing to hide i dont.

I returned to Fuji this afternoon after four days away from it. An improvement of exactly half a tenth, but I had two 32.4's invalidated. Apparently I nipped the bollard at the exit of the chicane on one lap. The second I went roughly 1 mm too wide at the exit of Coca-Cola. :grumpy: Again, my optimal was a 32.3. I don't know if it will make much of a difference, but the new DS4 I ordered came today. I'll break it out tomorrow. No more random rumbling inside my controller!

Thanks a lot for your comments,
I think I have to study the apex point for spoon. Every time i open a bit more aggressivly there i end up in the grass.
Hopefully staying more to the right, as you say, will naturally fix the apex issue.

What an attack that was!! What about the controller. What should I have the CSA set to? Weak or strong?
Chris, I use it with strong. Calms the car twitchiness on exits (not entirely ofcourse) and allows to get on the gas earlier, at least that's how it works for me. I also use TCS at 0, so with other setting it might not work the same.
Was this your only and last test or are you planning to do more ???!!!! 😉😉 You scare me more and more my friend !!!!

I do not recognize you anymore !!!! What is going on ? You are getting better and better and I sincerely congratulate you for that. Bravo mon ami 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
It's not that great of a lap, but thank you as always my friend. I just try to follow your lead and try to match your fantastic results. Sometimes I manage, sometimes I don't, but I like to think that everytime I try to learn something.
And no, that won't be the last try, I know that 32 is possible for me and will chase it to the end. :gtpflag:
Are you using directional buttons to steer? 1:33.071 is like a Platinum medal! Why don't you post a bonnet view video?
Yes, I am. Furthermore I'm also doing X and Square for gas/brake, so no partial throttle/brake for me - it's full send or nothing:lol:
I've shared my lap in the showcase, you can search for it with below tags and watch it with preferred view.

Well i had a funny thing this morning...

i was at .5xx at Suzuka so ofcourse push on that until thursday like i always do.
For an hour i was struggling to even complete a lap, like always, all or nothing.... a lot of nothing...
Spoon and 130R were killing me every single time.

I was better at S1 + S2 resulting in a few 45.4 and a lot of 45.5's so that was hopefull!
but stuffed it up everytime later on, then i ran a 45.750 and normally i restart immidiately.... paused the game, pet the cat, grabbed coffey and continued the lap, there were 2 corners i nailed this lap, Spoon and 130R..

crossed the line in what i though would be a 1:40.5 or something, but turned out to be a 1:39.3
with beeing 3 tenths slower in the beginning of the lap....., just shoot me..:confused:

God i hope it's enough cause i don't want to return, i dispise it fully

Behold my Orange bastard and mega crappy semi fast lap :lol:

So based on this video, my time in the first half of the track is right on the money as I hit the end of sector 2/start of sector 3 at 45.714. If I get the second half right, I'll get the gold but I can't seem to go through 130R faster than 320 KM/H.

What kind of worked for me on controller with 130R is letting go of the DRS quite early ( so i don't get confused by the controls )
then lift off the throttle and the moment i turn giving full throttle again, if i throttle and turn after im off to Saturn, so it has to be turn and then throttle, but i admit, it still feels like a lotery,

But a 45.714 is def up for gold!, and Spoon is a real make or brake, then surviving 130R

Pff.... the worst combo since long for PAD's

Last week in TT we had a great car on a horrible track and this week it is the other way around.

There are so many better McLarens in GT7 to be driven around Suzuka, why this one? This thing feels like a 650S GT3 with a massively overpowered engine, that drives way worse than a 650S GT3.

Not that happy with the lap either but I lucked out at 130R so that's that. Won't be coming back unless I drop to Silver...

Wait...you mean I can manually control the DRS?

Nice time mate, that should def hold for gold :) :)
I ment just releasing the button, i have DRS assigned to X on the controller, comming out of Spoon i try to straighten as soon as possible and pressing X to the floor , but seems to be better for me to let it go and deactivate DRS way before i let go of the throttle for 130R, if i lift AND close DRS ate the same time i'll die there :lol:

and taking a look at your lap, ...... yeah, you didn't deploy DRS at all :lol:
have a good one lapping again then :lol:👽

* edit, DRS sign turns red if you activate it btw

yees... if you use it you can drop your lap time with at least half a second or even more?

great time without it !
Damn I thought the DRS was deployed automatically when the sign turns white from transparent  Maybe I should have played F1 2023 afterall...

Thanks both for that important bit of info, and now watch me messing up 130R with the increased straight line speed and go slower :lol:

I think you can indeed find some time with it, don't know if it's half a second, with my incompetence it did not

But i think there are 4 main points to gain from it,

the mainstright

Exit turn 9

Exit turn 11 hairpin

Exit 14 Spoon ( altho it's very hard to straighten it there cause you have to be left very quickly.

Also, think that you gain more from it without TCS, but the fight was hard enough with it at 1 :lol::lol:

( .......... but for example what I am wondering right now is that eternal question, controller vs wheel. I sense that current Suzuka TT is definitely advantage wheel, but I wonder if it's possible to create a formula, wheel - controller, 80 -20. ...... )
OK, so I could play with half_sourlys excel files today and checked Dino TT and question wheel vs controller there are pretty much 50-50, no advantage there. I am curious how it will be at the end of Suzuka VGT.
Summary of Dino TT wheel-vs-controller.

72 on controller
48 on wheel
( 3 on both so I removed them)
91 got gold which of 54 on wheel and 37 on controller

ratio between is almost identical so I call it equal ( I kinda dont bother to go into 49.5 vs 50.5 ) for me it is equal

Did you check Daytona? This was also one that seemed to heavily favor wheel users.

Edit: of course you cannot deduce from the gold ratio here, since basically everyone got gold :D

I can usually get a silver time within a few laps of any car & track combo, but I've only managed bronze at Suzuka and I'm never trying again for my own sanity. Between the DRS activation (does anyone have a suggestion for a good button for this? I'm using triangle and it's very awkward) and the sudden snap through 130R it feels very frustrating with a controller. The Daytona time trial was also frustrating with a controller, but at least the threshold there was so low it was easy to get a gold time.

I have found a golden ticket. R130 is the make or break turn. I was on an awful lap but pulled the R130 downshift to 5th accelerate and got the first lap within gold territory. I used TC1 btw and default abs. Did it using the wheel. Couldn't even turn the car on the controller 😄

I think I'm safe.

Edit: YT is acting up. Can't upload the video.

It's too bad you can't assign the same button to multiple functions. Then you could just assign the right trigger to both throttle and drs activation and just have the drs always on when you press the gas pedal since it shuts off on it's own when the conditions aren't suitable anyway.

Ideally, a "DRS off" button would be the best thing since it's the less used option...

On pad I go for R1 (sticks to go/stop/steer, L2 R2 for shifts) for the right index finger. On wheel whatever's near my right thumb, which is R2 on the current one.
I'm using L2/R2 for brake and throttle, unfortunately I've learned to use controllers with only my index fingers on the shoulder buttons so I can't press multiple at the same time without it being awkward. I should probably just re-learn that to use both index and middle fingers at the same time really.

Personally i use L1 + R1 for shifts, L2 + R2 for brake and throttle, the best option for me is X on DRS because i never use the handbrake ever, besides that that is deactivated with these trials.
So right thumb on the X

Nothing a piece of tape can't solve. Iirc some people did it in the brands race with the Audi DTM.
