How should pre-qualifying be for TOCA7?

  • Keep the TOCA6 Quali Race format, it's fine.

  • Run a regular quali session instead for positions 13 downwards.

Thanks Furi, if ToCA works out for me this week then you can put me down as a reserve. I don't want to overload myself you see. I think getting too involved back in 2011 hurt me in my GCSEs and now I've got my A Levels coming up I need to get the grades for next year. I should be in though, after the 16th anyway as I've got an exam that day.

I am thinking of starting late January as I am aware exams will hit a few of you.

Thoughts then on Loss of Motegi, addition of Cape South, Autumn Ring, and Clubman Route 5?

Motegi is better than cape and autumn ring :( and SSR5 would be better than Clubman IMO.

That's cool, thanks.
Thoughts on the calendar. I don't remember Motegi being in the game? I remember it was in GT4 but I didn't think it was in GT5. Some versions of it are a lot of fun though. I was never fussed about the cape ring tracks really. Autumn Ring is a shame but the full version doesn't have the appeal of the smaller one so I'm not fussed. Clubman Route 5 I always thought was quite boring so overall it's quite good.

Motegi was introduced as DLC with Spa.

Autumn Ring Mini is hideous, I did two races in the BTCC series and it was hell.

Clubman would be making its TOCA debut.

Ah I forgot about that. I'm not fussed about that then as I won't be buying any DLC. I do like Motegi and Spa though.

57 second laps from Sakery in a Suzuki Swift. Shorter tracks are often more fun.

I'd never really raced the track before I got it in a shuffle lobby and loved it. I love the fast flowing S bends in the middle and the "slip road" first two corners. :D

Cape ring is good for these cars. Clubman route 5 should be good. Autumn ring = :yuck: Motegi wasn't too fussed about.

I was wondering what happened to you after you pretty much disappeared after S3/S4.

Motegi is too good for Furi hence it's not here... Furi can only "drive" *divebomb* on small tracks like Cape South (Draft fest :yuck:), AR and Clubman R5..

And as clearly can be seen Mini is still way too slow, no surprise Furi never learns.. As is the Swift... Furi is very much stuborn but rubbish.. :P

No Paul your just complaining. Autumn Ring is a technical track well suited for these, Cape South threw up great races in S4, and also only one DLC track means less people miss out.

Trust me come race day people will see also check edit, I knew the Mini wasn't going to work ;). (How you can call .7 off in a Mile and 9 mph down close is anyones guess..)

Running out of exuses then? :sly: Remember that 1 mile is just that. Times that by roughly 2 for a lap of Monza and then the Mini is around 1.5-2 secs off much like the BMW was in S6..

Edit: Your VW times for the speed run are crap, I did it with a 0 miles car (298bhp) and got 4.8 to 60, 10.6 to 100, 32.3 to a mile and 161mph at the finish. So run in the VW can easily get 162/3 mph and shave tenths off..

I have the spec car mate with IDENTICAL settings to other cars so they are even. Your pretty much wrong.

No as that's completely pointless as no one will use identical setting for gearboxes, you should try maximising the trans for each car to give the best result possible.... Or else whats the point of doing a speed run.. :irked:

If your not maximising the cars what the hell is the point in doing anything... No wonder your series have such unbalanced cars...

Sorry Furi but I am getting sick of your stupid logic.

Because if you do that you see each cars potential on the same settings, thats truly even. And the settings I had were all pretty resulting in them about to top out at the finish anyway.

The VWs best came at around 190-193 on the settings no where near the redline.... As if you were smart you'd see some cars need to be run on long gears to get the best out of them..

Hence your "tests" are completely crap..

Most others will agree with me here so I'll do a proper speed run when I can...

Oh dear :scared:.

Different cars work with different settings so one car might be faster on one setup whilst another on a different setup.
You should know that

Err no. If you test a car with EXACTLY same spec as everything else, then you get an accurate reading of the performance figures. Having one car with one differing gear ratio to another is not going to do anything as its not even.

Paul easy for you to say its crap but i've spent loads of bloody time on this. Honestly no need to start moaning about things. Your not driving this season. I was handling these tests myself because I knew you'd be better at the hot laps.

Part of the reason I released specs this early was too enable people to test themselves to have cars evened up before the season start.

EDIT @ Haitch of course your going to find that, but by testing at a set value, you get an even barometer of how they perform. If I was to tweak the cars I could get a few more mile an hour. Wouldn't make much difference, just every result would be around 5-10mph quicker.
