It looks great, you've really got the hang of it. The choice of areas for colouring looks pretty spot on.

No major rules broken, but the whole pic looks a little blurry (the wheels especially).

The edges of all the areas of colour are a bit jagged/rough. I've been trying to work out why, but can't come up with a good reason, the jaggies look too smooth for full on aliasing. How did you go about colouring the car?

I too lust for a Wacom, but the lusting shalth end soon as i'm getting one for my birthday from my folks.

The car was origianlly Graphite Grey. I selected blocks of colours with magic wand, select similar, then blocked it all out with the paintbucket. Then I would go over everything with the paintbrush freehand, without making any selections. I guess you might think that's pretty primative, but that's the only way I knew how to do it.

The parts that didn't get special paintbrush treatment are more jagged because that's what the selection+paintbucket treatment tends to produce.

The parts that did get special paintbrush treatment are blury because that's what the paintbrush "brushes" make when the size of the picture is so small.

What I posted is the actual size of the original, so the paintbrush blurs the edges, and the sleection method makes them jagged. This will not be as obvious if I use a larger original picture. Next time I will do the colours entirely with the paintbrush, but this was done at 2 in the morning, so I was trying to wrap things up (wheel detail).

@neocrox : That is looking pretty nice actually... keep up the good work, can't wait to see it finished! :D

WIP :

Erno Vuorinen of Nightwish - some of you might remember this from roughly 3 months ago, anyway, here it is, 99% complete. The face isn't exactly done yet, and there are some finer details to go through, but as of now here it is.

@ EE: I think the blurry/jagged edges comes from using the magic wand. It's a rubbish tool really, never got good results with it. You might get better results using the polygonal lasso, or ideally the pen tool.

Shant: Awesome, guitar looks perfect!

Here's a very blocky one I just did up. Took roughly an hour, I tried to clean it up compared to the last one.

Cred to Steve Crijins, Lotus designer, for the original.

My first, almost finished toon :D And rims suck, damn, please some tips about how to do them, becaus I **** it up every time..

Here is another the way I like to do them, and Ive given it a go the way you guys do it, and im not that good :indiff: ahhh well I will keep at it see what happens.

is this sarcasm? or are you serious?

I just don't like those things. It takes a lot of time to do a real nice vector, and from what I can see so far (your second pic), you have the skills to do it. After you finish this vector you will never want to trace a bitmap again, believe me. ;)

Well tha_con didnt do it I did, and I didnt trace a bitmap I did it the same way all the others are done by using the pen tool, but in a more of an abstract way, to the others. And I used adobe illustrator to do the vector and photoshop for the rest, I hate flash and have never used it to its full.

once I finished doing all the little bit of colour I then played with it in photoshop to saturate the colours more and add that blur effect.

well if you think about it, the phone should get better reception, it is after all a phone, im not sure if GT2 wheels these days can hold a call all that well. lol

Bondy: However good the GT2 was (,and it was amazing), this is 100x more impressive. I'm loving it a lot and when you finish it you should get loads of comments and favs from dA, if not a Daily Deviation depending on how you present it. Either way, it's going to look great and will be a pretty integral part of your gallery.

Speedy_E:

Haha, i love you guys! thanks don, that spurs me on, ive got wireless internet now so i wont have to come off my pc (which is in my mums room atm) whenever she goes sleepies! :P
So maybe, just maybe, i'll be able to get it done for ya.
Speedy_E: good one, didnt even realise what i'd said until i saw that post!👍

that actually looks cool in just that monotone black/white.. just do the grille & you COULD call it done ;)
