Sorry... I didn't mean to jump down your throat, but I love the clean understated styling of the S13 Coupes... Anyway... Here's another update of the 911...

@ stumpydino: I like what you have so far on your wip. Looking forward to the updates.

@ Delphic: The base of the 911 is looking very clean and sharp. The 911 is a favorite of mine, and I will be interested to see what you do with the headlights.

Here's an update on my Chevelle project. I have to finish up the headlights, create a background, some minor cleanup work, and I think I will call this one finished. Comments & criticisms always appreciated.

Haha n/p :sly:

About the 911, there's some jaggy lines that kinda ruins the bonnet. But it's great this far đź‘Ť

@ donbenni - Actually, the bottom of the tire is a little flat because that's the contact patch. That doesn't really bother me. What seems odd is the non-concentric nature of what you can see of the inside of the rim. It doesn't look like it's all part of the same circle, though it's exactly the way it shows in the original. Like I said, a little fiction will clean it up.

Thanks for all the advice. I can't wait to start coloring.

One question on coloring - how do you get the color to fill all the way into the black lines? The soft edge of my paintbrush lines has white in it and that makes them stand off the fills a little. Do I Magic Wand the area, and then Grow the seleection by a few pixels, or what? Photshop 7, BTW.

Also, what size do you guys make your images? Mine's 1600x1200 or so, at 300 dpi.

@ Zoxxy: The lights are too similar colour to the bodywork. Try changing them slightly so there'smore contrast between them and the bodywork.

@ Delphic: Looking good.

@ Duke: I use the polygonal lasso (the one where you make straight lines instead of free hand) to draw along the centre black lines. I just try to be as careful as possible and if there are any obvious white patches, i go back and colour those bits in. You could use the Wand, but i wouldn't recommend it. Still give both ways a try and see which you prefer.

I had the same problem a few days ago...

There are a few ways to do it... The way I do it, is I create a layer between the line layer and car layer, then pick the pen tool, set it to "shape layers" (see attached), pick your color, and use it to outline the area you want to be filled with that color... It works great... Then when I'm happy with the placement and shape of the block of color, I merge it with the new layer I created (fill layer)...

The headlights are going to be an interesting process, but I'm actually looking forward to it...

There aren't any jaggies in the actual PSD file... Those jaggies happened when I compressed it to a more attachable size... Take a look at the lines:

If you want to avoid going over the outlines and having the edge of the paint being all jagged, just take your basicly B&W outline and put it as the upmost top layer. Set the blending to Multiply and no outline will be covered up, and it'll all look smooth. :dopey:

Update: more or less finished the linework, moving into color... This image is reduced to a little over half size.

Thanks! The rear wheel isn't so hot; I'm going to have to massage it in coloring to make it look less distorted. Plus I have a lineweight mistake on the lower shoulder of the rear tire, but that'll be easier to fix. I'm worried about getting my coloring and shading done well, though. You guys get massive detail in your gradients and around your headlights and windows.

Heres a little preview of what I'm currently working on.
180preview.jpg

That pic was taken at 1:2 zoom so there are some details you cant really see.
Like the Nissan logo and the 180sx on the side of the rear windshield.
And thats what the background is like in paint shop pro incase anyones wondering why its all checkered like that.

You can change that checkered flag bg in Photoshop, so i'm guessing you can in Paint Shop too. you can't work properly with that there, see if you can work out how to change it.

Nice WIP though.

Nice WIP though.

In PSP, to change the transparency background go to:

FILE: PREFERENCES: GENERAL PROGRAM PREFERENCES: TRANSPARENCY TAB

You can make the BG a solid color there.

Ting ting!

I came back from a pretty 'long' on and off 'vacation'. Anyways.

@duke : The TSX is almost ready, I'd say 95% done. Just needs some colour on the rear wheel and front lights. đź‘Ť It's... um, 11:53PM in Malaysia now, I think I'll post the finished product here tomorrow morning my time.

Jkrobby, it turned out pretty nice after all. đź‘Ť

Phew, it's done. Took waaaay more hours then excpected. Only thing I'm not satisfied with is that the lights look a bit tame but I had no clue whatsoever how to do them better.

Pure sexy. I wouldn't change them anyway. If I were to do anything to them, maybe like an eyelid job or something, but that's definitely not necessary. Great job. đź‘Ť

Man, the lights look great! Mine are going to look nothing like that good.

U18C, I'm eager to see your results on the TSX! If you look back a page or two, you can see I'm taking a crack at it myself. But I've just gotten to the difficult part, so it will be great to see how a pro is handling the coloring. Thanks again for doing it!

Are any of you guys on the cgtalk forums because your work would go down a treat im sure.

@GTJugend : Holy crap. That thing is sex on wheels. :D I love the blue one! đź‘Ť Awesome stuff man.

@sprite : Those guys on cgtalk are crazy, crazy, people. Very talented people. :eek:đź‘Ť

And finally... :D

@duke : I did see your work, it's pretty good for a first timer! I did alot worse when I first started. Your lines look great, all smooth and good. I read what your reply too about the 'flat' tire... contact patch, now that is interesting. :D:tup: Hope to see the finished product soon!

Here is my take on the Acura TSX :

The rear wheels gave alot of problems. :grumpy: I'll probably fix it later in the day, I'm too tired to do anything now. Hope you like it!
