I know that but you were bad to me with that car size part.

I had that planned right from the beginning as a way of balancing the scores a bit so that the bigger cars didn't run away and be crowned best micro car.
...and look again. You were two hundredths of an inch from losing a point, but I left it at -0.

What happens, do I decide the challenges, or does Car-less decide them?

Only when he hosts an event, which he has done the most of anyone in this thread.

If you host an event your responsible for scoring it and keep track of the score.

Normally it seems I choose the theme, decide on the challenges, devise and test a scoring system, create a banner, make the announcements, track the scoring and everything else. I enjoy it, but it can take quite a bit of time with the daily updates, and I've had very little time this week and it looks like I'll still be too busy next week too. Please do keep the thread alive by designing and running your own challenges.

When I'm not so busy I'll be quite happy to go back to running the challenges, and even have a few just about ready to go* - I just don't have the time to track the scores and do the daily updates right now.

* I have a regular roadcar, a racecar, and a cheap car challenge all designed and mostly tested, but no banners made yet. Hopefully I'll be able to start one of these in about a weeks time.

The admining of your events has been very good Car-less it hasn't gone unnoticed. The structured whereby often the best* car doesn't always come out on top, allowing everyone to have a decent shot at winning is also cool. I also like the strict time limits, keeps the thread moving.

*definitely a subjective measurement.

I hope to host a round sometime in the future, but I won't commit to doing so until I've planned it out and have enough time to admin it.

Find yourself a Two-Wheel-Drive Four-Door Sedan for less than 50,000cr. Your car may be new or used, it does not matter. However it must be a regular roadcar, not a concept, tuner or racecar.

You have 72 hours from the time of this post to buy and announce your choice(s).

* Do not change the oil or make any modifications to your car yet.

** I would like to see a good variety of different cars. To aid this, should one person choose a Lexus, I would appreciate if nobody else chose a Lexus.

*** Deadlines will be set for each challenge, and I will be deducting 1 point for every 4 hours should anyone be late. Consider this the virtual equivalent to points being deducted for breakdowns.

I picked up a dark purple FR 2004 Holden Commodore SS for the sticker price of 40,430, the donkey at the dealership refused to negotiate. It has 333hp and weighs in at 1658kgs. Im left with $9,570 dollars.

Well it was tough decision for me. 330i, G35, Skyline, Accord Euro R or FPV GT :nervous: And I decided that biggest bang for the buck is Infinity G35 saloon :) It costed me 30,720Cr and it has 256 HP, 352 N/m of torque. I hope i made right choice because craziness of V8 FPV was tempting  but it was sooo expensive

My car of choice is the Ford Taurus SHO '98. More 'super-ish' than 'super' but eh.

Power: 212BHP (dirty oil :yuck: )
Engine: 3.3 litre V8 DOHC
Torque: 208ft-lb (also dirty oil value :yuck: )
Mileage: 33531.1 miles

Cost: 13,755 Cr. :embarrassed:
Remaining credits: 36,245 Cr.

Picture will be up when I can get a hold of a USB that will work for me. :)

I've found that the USB drives have to be formatted in FAT32 to work. I use my PSP for my GT4 photos because it is fast.

For this I'll grab the: Mitsubishi Lancer EX 1800GSR IC Turbo '83.

Specs

Price: 9376cr
HP: 144
Weight: 1085kg
Mileage: 99782.4km

You were asked to go out and find a 4 door sedan for under 50,000cr which many of you did, resulting in a very nice variety of cars to compare.

Round 1: A Costly Proposition

You were given a budget of 50,000cr. Score 1 point for every 2,000cr you have remaining.

AndersonG22 was quick off the line, grabbing a Holden Commodore SS for the princly sum of 40,430cr to score 4 points.
Flynn77 didn't waste much time either, finding a Lotus Carlton for a more reasonable 28,521cr to take 10 points.
korza493 played a curve-ball, choosing a coupe-esque Mazda RX-8 Type S for 27,500cr and scoring 11 points.
SVX went for something tank-like in the Volvo S60 T5 Sport at a sensible price of 35,580cr to take 7 points.
Nazzii considered many cars before opting for a Infinity G35 for the price of 30,720cr for a score of 9 points.
BH-21 went for something massive in the shape of a Chrysler 300C at 34,780cr to take 7 points.
fabmaru carelessly spent nearly all of his money on a FPV GT at a massive 48,640cr bringing home 0 points.
C-ZETA bravely went for a FWD land yacht, a Ford Taurus SHO for a bargain 13,755cr nets him 18 points.
shotamagee rounds out the field with a Mitsubishi Lancer EX 1800GSR that cost just 9,376cr for a massive 20 points.

Round 2: Weighty Business

Large sedans weigh tons - literally. Weight is a hinderance to performance and economy.
The Toms Chaser weighs in at just under 1500kg. Your cars will be weighed and compared against this.
Gain 1 point for every 20kg your car is lighter, lose 1 point for every 20kg heavier.

AndersonG22 was a little heavier, his Holden Commodore weighing in at 1658kg for -7 points.
Flynn77 was just a few kg lighter than the above, his Lotus Carlton weighed 1655kg for the same -7 points.
korza493 reaps the benefit of a sportscar, the Mazda RX-8 Type S weighing just 1310kg for a positive 9 points.
SVX was close to the target, his Volvo S60 T5 Sport topping the scales at 1550kg for -2 points.
Nazzii was even closer, the Infinity G35 at 1513kg was just 13kg heavier than the Toms Chaser for -0 points.
BH-21 has a real heavyweight, the Chrysler 300C weighing a bone crushing 1878kg for -18 points.
fabmaru did a little better than that, his FPV GT being 1825kg scoring a slightly better -16 points.
C-ZETA was closest to the target, the Ford Taurus SHO weighs in at 1509kg for -0 points.
shotamagee not only paid next to nothing, but his Lancer also weighs very little, 1085kg takes 20 points.

The Scores So Far

Code:
Driver Car Price	Weight	[B]Total[/B]
=====================================================
shotamagee	Lancer 1800GSR +20	+20 [B]40[/B]
korza493	Mazda RX-8	+11	+9 [B]20[/B]
C-ZETA Ford Taurus +18	-0 [B]18[/B]
Nazzii Infinity G35	+9	-0 [B]9[/B]
SVX Volvo S60 +7	-2 [B]5[/B]
Flynn77 Lotus Carlton	+10	-7 [B]3[/B]
AndersonG22	Commodore	+4	-7	[B]-3[/B]
BH-21 Chrysler 300C	+7	-18	[B]-11[/B]
fabmaru FPV GT +0	-16	[B]-16[/B]

Round 3: Dragging Along

Lets see just how much all that weight is hindering you.
You will run a 1000m Drag Race - the Toms Chaser does this standing kilometer in 25.5 seconds.
Gain 1 point for every full second you are faster, lose 1 point for every second slower.

To allow our American friends time to recover from their celebrations, you will have 48 hours from the time of this post.

Im left with $9,570 after getting the car. I got an oil change, R1 tires and a stage 1 weight reduction kit for a total of $9,250 leaving me with $320. After these upgrades I ran a 24.453.

I don't think we were supposed to upgrade yet, bud.

Can we get rims free of charge?

Not knowing if the rims affect handling and performance as they can in real life, I choose to ignore them in the game. I'd prefer if everyone else did the same, but if you are convinced that they are a visual upgrade only and do choose to change them, just don't tell me about it.

Unless stated otherwise, I usually run the first couple of events stock and the last few modified. If you have saved your game since the oil change and weight reduction then you will have to get a replacement car, or you will score 0 at best in the "improvement" round.

Interesting side note, so far in this round everyones choices are within a couple of seconds of each other - much closer than the cars I tested.

Well they were close, until now;

Mitsubishi Lancer EX 1800GSR IC Turbo '83 standing 1000m time: 31.439
(and that's with me getting the launch and then timing the shifts right, so I could get under 31.5)
