Two things: Number one, I bought the FPV GT brand new so it didn't need an oil change, number two the max speed is 181.26 MPH /291.72 Km/h

^Didn't need, but even new cars do benefit with a 5% power increase for 200km after an oil change.

@SVX my original PS2 started doing that after years of use. Cleaning and adjusting the lens did improve things, but only for a couple of months before it quit reading GT4 completely. I'd keep my eyes open for a good replacement if I was you.

A bit of transmission ratio adjustment eventually allowed me to reach a 162.44 Mph top speed in the Mitsubishi Lancer, probably still slowest so I doubt the time spent was worth it.

or 261.42 Kph.

My decision to choose close gearing has backfired. I spent from the end of the first straight to the end past the red line. Didn't hit the limiter though :embarrassed:

Round 6: Maximum Speed

Back at the test track you were given the chance to see just how fast your cars could go.
Score 1 point for every mph you could exceed the magic 155mph.

korza493 in his rocketship, a Mazda RX-8 managed a massive 193mph to score 38 points.
Flynn77 wasn't too far behind in the Lotus Carlton with a top speed of 187.53mph for 32 points.
fabmaru despite running stock power in the FPV GT managed a very impressive 181.26mph for 26 points.
Nazzii even with stage2 NA tuning in the Infinity G35 could only manage 178.38mph scoring 23 points.
SVX took the FWD Volvo S60 to a respectable 173.56mph and scores 18 points.
AndersonG22 was slightly slower, his Holden Commodore managing 172.46mph for 17 points.
shotamagee with the benefit of custom gearing took his classic Lancer to 162.44mph scoring 7 points.
C-ZETA however was let down by his new garing, the Ford Taurus only managing 150.18mph for -4 points.

Final Scores

Code:

korza493 Mazda RX-8 +11	+9	-0	+30	+9 -1 +38 96

[s]BH-21 300C	+7	-18	+0	...	... ... ...[/s]

The wildcard entry, a rotary engined sportscar with reverse-opening half-sized rear doors takes the win after scoring massively in the last round.
Well done Korza493. What crazy challenges have you got planned for next week?

Second place goes to Flynn77 in the Lotus Carlton, only missing out on the win due to korza thinking outside of the box. Better luck next time

...and the test cars used to devise the scoring?
Code:
Car Price	Weight	Drag	Lap	Return	Speed	Total
=============================================================================
Ford Taurus SHO +18 +0	-3	+10	+13	+26	64
Nissan Bluebird	1600	+20 +28	-11	+0	+28	-8	57
Skyline Sedan 350GT-8	+6 -2	+0	+20	+8	+16	48
Toms X540 Chaser +0 +0	+0	+30	+0	+12	42

The only common car, the Ford Taurus SHO placed first rather than last. How can that be?
The money I saved by keeping the stock gears and tyres was spent upping the NA tune from stage1 to stage2.
It might have cost me 3 seconds on the return drive, but it gained me 30mph in top speed!

Congrats to Korza and the RX-8. Interesting to see your method for the Taurus Car-less. I ruined myself with the gearing. I thought it would be better off since the default gears for the Taurus are taller than an NBA basketball player  But I didn't give myself enough power and ruined myself in the top speed test :dunce:

Top Gear Comparison Challenge #12:????????

Round 1: Buying a car

The Producers have told you to go out and buy a road-going car with less than 300BHP.
They won’t tell us what the cars well be used for.
You do not have a budget for this challenge.
You have 72 hours. Good luck.

Not really, I haven't actually decided on the scoring yet. If you guys aren't happy about it, I won't compete officially.

I'll wait and see what the others think about it and decide if I will enter or not.

Do you guys mind if I enter the comp this week?

Personally I choose not to enter when I run one so that I cannot be accused of cheating, insider knowledge, bias etc.

However, one reason I keep trying to get the winners to run the next comparason is so that we can see another way of doing things and new ideas for challenges. Jet Badger gave us the 'Laptime Improvement' round, and so far you have given us the 'mystery theme'. I see no problem with you also giving us an 'admin alongside' feeling as long as you consider my first point.

I bought a Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STI sp.C '04 (Subaru just thought of random letters and added them to the car's name.)

Engine: Boxer 4: DOHC
Displacement: 1994 cc
Power: 322 BHP /6400rpm (funny that it says 276 in the dealer (I know about the Japanese Gentlemens... thing whatever))
Torque: 460.40NM /4400rpm
Weight: 1370 Kg
Drivetrain: 4WD
Price: 33,920 Cr
