I wonder whats in store for us regarding the TGTT, some sort of challenges i hope.

Now, for something I never dreamed I would be saying.........

I do hope this will make it into GT5.

On that bombshell ladies and gentlemen.....

The Cee (Apostrophe!) D, the only car to have an apostrophe in its name. It also has a whoppping 5 more horsepower!

I'd be interested to see if you could get a photocopy of the Kia Cee'd review in Top Gear magazine where they deem it 'CRAPPY' as on their website it gets a very reasonable 11/20.

Yes, very reasonable.

LOL, big difference in standards.

Yeah in my opinion 55% is reasonable,
Nothing to get exited about,
Not good,
Not bad.

I any of you read the magazine you will relise that 11 is a good score for a family car only super cars tend to get more.

Yes, the Clio 197. The car Top gear say is the best hot hatch you can buy only got a 12 or 13.

We don't have top gear magazine available here. To me it seems the "grading scale" is off when 55% counts as reasonable and 12/13 counts as best hatchback. When you have everything that's not a ferrari or lambo or aston scoring 60% and to the not knowing, like myself, looks like a poor car. Different types of cars should have different criteria and different grading scales.

I've been wanting to say something here since this thread started but I was always afraid to do so. Anyway, here it goes:

The top gear test track must be the most overrated track in history. It's a flat strip of asphalt with a painted track on it. I feel bad it's one of the tracks in the small track list were are getting in GT5. Would rather have one of the epic fantasy tracks like deep forest.

It's not too complicated. If your looking at a medium saloon, then you check out the ratings of cars in that field.

Supercars are amazing pieces of engineering and their scores reflect that.

Fair point, the track has a variety of corners and was designed by Lotus, so the layout is pretty good. But yes it has much more commercial appeal than actual track merits.

It'll be good for comparing lap times but that is about it.

It does look very un-polished and lots of heavy and obvious photo-sourcing going on...

There are many more interesting places like that which could be simulated for fun. Ie, Elvington in the UK is similar to Dunsfold, but holds many events for car enthusiasts, many varieties of track days, has a very long runway for top-speed testing and so on... purely from a 'car nut' point of view it is leagues ahead in actual car things that go on there.

I'm not sure what the motivation was for the TG track but it's pretty narrow and is limited just to that little circuit which has a cross-over, limiting it mainly to time trials with one or two cars at the most!

Hmmm

I'm glad someone else said it. I said something very similar earlier in this thread, and it didn't exactly go over well.

Top Gear is great, but this track will get old fast.

;)

Depends on what type of racer you are. Some people like myself prefer hotlapping to actual racing and will not tire of the TT. However those who aren't interested in hotlapping may become bored of the track very quickly.

Sorry, but I don't agree.

I am primarily a Hot Lap kind of guy. Most of my time behind the wheel is doing time trials. Nevertheless, the TGTT did get boring very quickly (rFactor, GTR2, GTR Evo).

The type of "racer" you are, matters not. What type of tracks you prefer, does.

If you like flat simple tracks, the TGTT is for you. If you're anything like me, and flat basic tracks just don't excite, then you will be quite disappointed when you fire up the PS3 to have a go.

Give me Spa, The Ring, Bathurst, etc...

That being said, I'll probably be trying to match (or beat) Stig lap times right along with the rest of you.

More like a nice little distraction, when I don't have much time. A few laps around the TGTT doesn't take long, so it could easily fit in my lunch break.:sly:

Ya it seem like a novelty item, i mean they cant have serious GT races there with that figure 8 layout. Very Destruction Derby like.

It does not even have a nice environment its just grass and small buildings .

AS far as city tracks i dont know why PD has elected to just lay a circuit in random cities as opposed to giving is REAL city tracks like Surfers Paradise, Adelaide Street and Long Beach.

Hopefully this track editor thing is real and we can just build the ones they don't include but derserve to be.

That is why I won't get bored of it. Sometimes my gaming sessions vary between 30mins and 3hrs, so when im short on time I will have a go at TGTT. However my preference will always be tracks such as Nurburgring, Spa, Lesarthe.

Even for hot lapping it's not really a great track.

Lotus developed the track themselves because of the range of corners it offers, but their test track is limited in size so that is all they could fit in. I'm sure they would prefer Fiorano or somewhere similar :D

I'll drive around it no doubt, because it'll end up being a hot track for leaderboard battles in different cars, just like Top Gear!

I'd prefer PD to have gone and done another 'Nordschliefe' type track. A road but circuit that is long and interesting.

Millbrook with it's test bowl and hilly road circuit, or how about the IOM TT circuit? Driving on big open wide circuits is part of GT that I personally get bored of quickly. The tighter smaller road type circuits are what I prefer (Lemans, Nordschliefe, Seattle, Cote d'azure etc etc)

Considering the work that will have gone in to the TG track (it's really quite basic, and they have limited access to just the TG circuit, not the whole aerodrome), they are hyping it up quite a lot...!

Hmmmm

Thats fair enough then sorry if I came over rude It's just I'm such a big fan of the magazine as well as the show.

It's basically just an Dunsfold Aerodrome with a track painted on it I beleive...

The draw I think isn't so much the track itself, but rather that a lot of people love Top Gear and many have wanted to be able to match times against the Stig... hopefully this will be possible.

55% is reasonable?

Yes. 50% is, by definition, average...

Not even that. It's the West half of the area and some of the corners are painted. A bit.

Nnnnnnnno. Lotus developed the track for Top Gear. Lotus have their own test track, 150 miles to the north-east, called "Hethel". Where their factory is.

All real Tope Gear times are done from a standing start, I guess to compare GT5 TGTT time with real life the TT laps will have to run from a standing start.?
