Do you need to know what wheel I use? ;)

Do you use a wheel or DS3?

I use the g27 but I'm still not convinced it is quicker. Everyone say wheels are quicker but I'm not so sure. I reckon it helps to drive smoother which would make you faster but I guess I still have a sweet spot for my Ds3.

Monstar check CSLs sig :D

On wheels, I dont know if a wheel is a huge help with all cars I think its pedals where the advantage is. I use a DS3 X to accelerate so throttle control is limited also its hard to hold a speed through sweepers etc. Thats where the big advantage lies imo.

I'm on my phone so couldn't see that, but yeah, I remember seeing it now that you mentioned it.

I wish gt5 had setting for the g27.

Under the time trial part that says no driving line, does that mean for the testers as well when testing the cars, or is that for who makes it to the final race? I just want to make sure.

This will be enforced for tuners time and yes for the final tournament as well. Since the test drivers time doesn't need verifying, it won't be 'enforced' then. The driving line will help you learn the track, but don't grow to dependent on it.

Guess its a good thing I'm not going to be submitting a tuner time since I'm nearly hopeless driving without the line.:dunce:

I had that problem too. I had to improvise. I changed my Button assignment to where I use R2 to Accelerate and L2 to Brake. It's not as good as an actual wheel with pedals, But It work's well enough.

I'm intrested to see how this play's out. This sounds like an amazing Shootout.

Sure thing. Where do I get the track ?
I want to become more familiar with it. It seem's amazing from the Videos.

You and add either me (GTP_TimberW) or XDesperado67 on PSN and you can download the map from us.

So we can't post our tunes prior to the 14th?
Out of curiosity may I ask why?
Not trying to be a pain here just looking for your reasoning.

Since this is an open ended car choice shootout, hopefully this will come out with a wider variety of different cars.

Do you think it makes sense or it wouldn't make a difference?

To me, the biggest advantage wheels give is the brake pedal, secondly the throttle pedal, the wheel itself helps more with tire wear then lap times imo., and conversely, the throttle pedal makes the second biggest difference on tire wear, and the brake pedal the least.

As of right now I'm currently still hopeless at this track, ran with DL on for a while, still no idea where that next corner will take me.

Tuners: Please submit at least one of each of these cars. :D
Lotus Evora (actually I'm not sure about this one, spins easily)
Honda NSX
BMW M3 GTR
Subaru something something
EVO 8 (Premium)
Audi TTS

I'll see what else I find that might be as good or better.
So far my best time is somewhere lower 40's if I get a clean run, really don't know yet.

@CSLACR Audi S3, Audi Quattro '83 (may have year wrong its earliest Quattro though), Lancia Delta

S3 has my best time so far but the other 2 have better power to weight ratios and slightly higher top speed due to better acceleration just need to get their handling dialed in. :D

Audi S4 '03 is also a top car. The S2000 '06 go back to the garage  and now i run an Impreza , 3'39" online 3'40'offline, with sports hard tires this time. :):)

I can help with the score sheet. I am out of town at a conference for a couple days but I will put something together over the weekend.

Right. Driven around the track, don't like it. Woeful excuse of a track, drove around it in a 455PP Spoon Civic, not something which you'd call tricky to drive, and crashed so many times I couldn't even recognise the front of it by the end of my 3 lap session. How Praiano get's anything beneath 4 minutes is beyond me, you can't go over 80 miles an hour without running off the road, you can't get the line wrong or it'll kill you as there's next to no run off and the road is as wide as my fingers, there seems to be no 'flow' to speak of, it's feels so long to drive on that it makes the Nurburgring feel like Autumn Ring Mini, and it's turning me against cars that I truly love and I despise this course.[/rant]

*Breathe*

…calm down

Anyways, you see my issue? Unfortunately, that means if I can't like the course by the tuner deadline, I'll be pulling out of testing. There is not a way in hell am I going to test cars on a course that I take find bland and hateful.

Sorry if you find the above offensive, I just had to get it out of my mind first. I haven't hated any track as much as I hate this one.

Lol. I don't like the course either but it it what it is.
All the touge course we race on in LOTS are tight twisty tracks and most of them are great tracks. They are suppose to be challenging but this 1 dosnt have to much rhythm.

It's cat and mouse type of racing and it's quite fun. Most wins come from a driver making a mistake, some are epic battles. There's not a not of overtaking so when you do overtake it feels special and very rewarding, nit like when you race with 16 other people at GVS.

My advice is to take your time, learn the track and race someone on it. You will like it. The idea is not to crash.

Also the spoon civic is an ok car but pick some thing else like AWD or FR and that should make it better for you.

For your information, I like the track, lol. It's really a matter of preference. This track have different rhythms at different sections. Not just one. And have a fast and slow sections which makes it important to have a well balanced car.

Yea, what was wrong with testing on Mt. Akina?! That's one of the few Touge courses I really, really like. Anyway, I have my own methods of crash course learning. 16 car race against the AI for 4 laps should be enough.

Mt akina is a good little track. Not a long track and not very technical. Not the best track either.

Have you driven ushimine? Now that's a great track.

Not long? It's a little shorter than this one at 4 miles something, but I wouldn't say it was not long. It just doesn't feel too long.

Ushimine? I know you're a god on that track from the vid in the OP and from what I've seen and read in the LotS thread, but I've never driven it.

And a quick update, the track is still a nightmare for me, I've slashed 4 seconds down from my online record in the Spoon EK9 from 4:09.3xx to 4:05.1xx, but it really wears the tyres out. After lap 3, there was less than half the tyres left at the front and I had to slow down so much that the AI Opera S2000 could overtake. Plus, the course is wearing me out, so testing there will have to be very quick, or I'd crash on the only corner I like. (That steep downhill corner after the high speed, uphill left right)

Hey Onboy drag your Pocket Monster out and hammer it around the track a few times. You'll be loving it in no time!:D
While it will never be my favorite track, overall I like it and other than a lack of run-offs it's good, besides this isn't Rally so keep your wheels on the road.

Nah, or else I'd start hating the little thing too…
And I have a request. Would any tuner here care to take a R34 Pace car off my hands and get the cops some place in the mountains? Imagine chasing after that 'Brown Hornet' in a police car

Guys for the time trial, when we're doing it online, there isn't any "red time". I think that's worth noting out.
So don't be to concern about archieving a green time as when it's done online, it's more important not to get your car damaged and finish the course cleanly.
