No details were released, just a simple "physics improvements" so I'm doubting it'll be a complete overhaul that'll make everyone's hard work useless, but maybe some changes that'll mean we'll need to tweak all our cars to get them back into shape.

Hopefully what it really means is online wont be a slide-fest compared to offline anymore. :D

I'm used to the online physics actually. almost never driven offline anymore apart from making some credits on the seasonals.... lol...

What about the 200 cars of my garage to retune ???:scared:??? If it's for a better game whit everything fixed and a little bit more, why not ? With forza 4 coming, need to be really good this update ... but really really good !!

Or, knowing Kaz and his backward ways, it'll make offline a slide-fest too, to make online feel easier.

I'm the complete opposite. I just drive online to have the occasional race with friends.

Yeah, you have it even worse than us. :scared: I feel your pain. :ouch:

As long as they're the same physics online and off. 👍

Well, since I joined GTP, I haven't been racing online a lot either. It's just the fool around races, fanfic assistant races and the occasional bit of drag racing now.

Yea, the downside to hyper once a day releases. One change = 200 retunes. Praiano, you should join up with doc and split the workload. He needs to get off his arse more anyways.

How come I doubt that will happen…?

And I just had a thought…my friend over at Avid, now in Melbourne till November, will be having to rework all his cars when he returns if the physics makes cars even trickier to drive. And I'd honestly just race him with the botched slide-fest physics than not race him at all because the physics change has put him off…

So yea…hoping for good things, but expecting the worse to happen. Kaz, do not disappoint, or we shall unleash the forces of hell upon you.

Thank's for the information.
I usually use left Finger just to stabilize myself. Although I dont do any Rally.

My pleasure. I'd never consciously used left finger braking until the Rally Shootout. However I do realise now that I have done so in the past and it seems to be a peculiarity of FWD cars. I drive them more often than 4WD and RWD, not sure why other than that's what I've driven IRL since I got my driving license way back in the 1800s. I find that in a decently setup 4WD and RWD cars you can simply lift and then mash the throttle to achieve the same result.

I've avoided the rally aspect of GT for a long time now. I'm kinda regretting that now as I realise there's a lot of fun to be had...

Same, I've only had FF's too.
I have not liked rally since GT2. Once I tried it. I hated it.

Until this Shootout, I'd rarely noticed the difference in online/offline*. However, for some reason, on the track we've been supplied with, I can't get a damned thing to stick to the road. So much so that I'm on the point of chucking this one in :scared: Maybe it's the tyres, maybe it's a custom track, maybe it's the weather on Jupiter, I really don't know...

{Cy}

* - I do appreciate that it's slippier online and I do notice, but it's just not been that big an issue for me.

EDIT: To avoid multiple posting.

I've only really played GT4 and 5, hated rally in both of them. I can only recommend you give it one last try. There's some very good cars posted in the Rally Shootout thread. You're welcome to try my little 206 Pug, it's a very benign car, low PP and should see you around a track fairly safely. Very good for practising Scandinavian Flicks before progressing onto more powerful cars. Add me on PSN and 'borrow' the car, or hit the link in my sig and scroll to the bottom of the page...

Erm…Roj, bad news. Reading the news section, it seems like we're only going to get 12 new cars. 10 of which are carbon copies of the 1 new NASCAR, and an ugly pile of dog s*** known as the R35 GT-R 'N24 Shulze Motorsport'.

That's it! I'm quitting GT5 in protest if one lousy new GT-R is the best Kaz can do its pointless to continue...I mean really this is supposed to be the real driving simulator but until Kaz and PD can get their act together and finally give me every Skyline, Miata, EVO and WRX variant ever made there will be nothing real about this game so I'm quitting. I've waited a year already for this problem to be fixed and one new GT-R is the best they can do! Well @#$@#%$ you Kaz I'm not dealing with your @#$#@ anymore.

Note unless anyone failed to detect it the above is supposed to be sarcasm. I personally feel there are already way to many Japanese cars included in the game so if I was truly quitting it would be due to a failure to add more cars from elsewhere.

Well, I'm only like that cuz (and I make no attempt to hide this fact) I despise the R35 with every fibre of my body (yes, even in the……there :dopey:). So…look at this video, and enjoy the death of another R35 :D (Skip to 3:10 to see the crash in slow-mo)

Anyway, I'll shut up now :D

I know. I was in the Kaz Tweets thread for a while before popping over there to inform you all. :P I'm happy about the 2011 NASCAR cars actually.

Remember there's DLC on the horizon too. ;)

I'm happy about the cars too, it's just that it's a tad cheap a move to say you're adding 12 (only) cars, but one of them is basically a RM Datsun with a flashy wing and the other 10 are just carbon copies of the 1 other car which is effectively a V8 brick. There's actually only 2 new cars announced, it's just that PD didn't want to be seen as a tad cheap so they copy and pasted 10 of the NASCAR, painted them differently, reorganised the interior and went 'there you go'.

-.- And I can't pay for the DLC, I'm a kid.

Not trying to start rumors but...

Is that an RX-7, Impreza Sedan and a GT-R all with race mods? 💡

:lol::lol: Great job guys! :D

PS. CyKosis, got another 206 RC? :D  I want a stock one too, as I want to turn it into a touring car. I was going to do so to the one you sent me (I was hoping for a stock one ), but it seemed insulting so I didn't. I did drive yours on sports hards in the compact car seasonal, it's bloody brilliant. If the shootout was limited to 400PP, you'd cream it.

This is great !!!!!

Support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheels

Just need the test track now and i'll be happy

And is that Roj softening up on the R35? *shocked look*

Nope. It's just the RX-7 and Impreza make my day. :P

And C-ZETA, that R34 looks like an EvoIX to me so I'm not getting any false hopes. :P

On topic: what's going to happen when the update changes the physics and everyone has to retune their cars.

I asked this a couple of pages ago. If you didn't see, here:
Kaz has just tweeted that there will be physics changes in Spec 2.0. Since the shootout clashes with Spec 2.0's intended release date, what will happen if Spec 2.0 changes how our shootout cars work? Do we get an extended tuning period?

Yes, this 'could' be a problem. We'll still run as per normal until we discover the physics changes. There's nothing much we can do about it.

Sorry I haven't checked the thread since last night so I must have skipped over it when I checked the new posts

I have a ghost of my fastest Subaru at 3'40" and i test all the cars against it , The Elise 111R is potentially faster around 2" ,3'38" or less with a great pilot is possible. I drive in front of my ghost most of the time but it's difficult not make a mistake during the lap , for the moment i try to find a setting to let it more safe.

Yes, with full damage on, it's more important if the car can perform consistantly and is predictable. Time Trial and actual battles aren't the same.

I've finally tamed my NSX. It's listening to me now. I think I can go back to the touge test track.

*wait for Spec 2 to ruin all my work*

:dopey:

Yes ,but this come later, the ghost is the only way i've found to compare cars efficiently . After this i take the best ,tune online and make fine selection. There is too much cars to review. The Arta Garaya also have his chances, it's faster than NSX or RX7.

I can finally do lap of the touge track without being killed by either the car or the guardrails! I'm happy now. I'm comfortably lapping 3:51's so I'm going to have to spend a day trying to push and try for 3:45.

I'm still banging the guardrails after more than an hour:dopey: the course is very technical.
