Cool, sounds good moeom. Watch out for the room numbers in this thread.
It's been a bit slow recently because both organisers are in the process of moving (Me - GTP_alexi and Jon - GTP_Joylord).
Send me a friend request and you'll be able to join through my lounge.

Chris, Mike, Phil, Captain, Joe, Andy (or any of the usual suspects) are any of you around today/tonight? I spent a couple of hours driving a few of our old tracks on my own last night, it was good, but would have been better with company :( I think we need to do some testing with the GT4 cars.

👍

I am definitely on this evening/tonight for a big session, got my permission slip signed by the boss so I'm ready to race, it's been too long and after this week, I'm in need of some good quality fun :D

I won't be around at all today, and possibly not tomorrow either, depending on whether some stuff happens or not. Hopefully I'll be on again on monday, or sunday if I'm free.

May I ask which track(s) we are currently using and where I can download said courses? I need all the help I can get

Hasn't been decided yet. I've got a few old tracks we can try when we're online later. Haven't got the time to make any, but if anyone has any, they're more than welcome to share.

What time are you getting on?

I'm just grinding seasonal races right now so anytime, whenever people are ready 👍

Sorry Alex but I usually can't do weekends so I won't be around till monday :(

Never mind Mike. Hope to catch you online soon though 👍

Crikey, I'll do my best, but the earliest would be around 7.30.
Rake in that cash Andy!

Despite a lower than usual turnout, some great racing here tonight. Mainly thanks to Alexi, Neenor and Dranddad, plus a few other non GTP racers who showed up. It's great to have good, clean friendly racing at such a high standard which is what makes this series so great

Good to see the range of cars being used were well balanced. It was classic GT4 racing with different cars quicker on different parts of the circuit but none having an overall advantage over the course of a lap.

Hi all, wanting to get involved in some good online racing, how do u organise your races? is it just room ip posted on this thread or via friend requests etc. Cheers

ROOM CLOSED: 1472-6118-3744-3752-8802

GT4 cars only (see cars on previous page)
515pp Racing Hard tyres on the current track that is available for download.

Just done a bit of testing, here are my thoughts (working progress).

Maserati
Good fun to drive but tricky on the throttle.
1m15.8s with default set up, min downforce.

M3
Very poised, faster than Maserati through most corners.
1m15.5s with default set up, min downforce.

370
Even more fun to drive than the Maserati, faster than M3 in first 2 sectors, then lose 4 tenths in last sector?! Easier on it's tyres than all the cars.
1m15.9s with default set up, min downforce.

Z4
Very similar, but probably a touch faster and less twitchy than the M3, maybe due to slight adjustment to set up.
1m15.2s with a slight adjustment to set up, min downforce.

Vette
Half the corners are fun the other half are horrible. I'm sure a good set up can cure that though. Reasonable tyre wear, but it takes ages to warm them up.
1m.16s default set up, min downforce.

Mustang
This lame horse needs to be put out of it's misery.
1m18.7s default set up, min downforce.

Evora
Stupidly quick. Managed a 14.5 after 2 laps, 13s easily dooable with default set up and min downforce as I crashed after being 5 tenths up on first sector. 12s possible with a good set up. I think we need to rule out the Evora for this track.

They're all pretty close and they all chew their tyres, but that might be my driving.

Need to test the rest now.

Just getting a quick fix before I spend my whole time packing and unpacking boxes, oh joy...

I agree on rulling out the Evora  if it is really 2.5sec a lap faster then we would get a single make event.
Alexi did you try the 370Z with 511 or 512PP? Not that it would make alot of difference, just curious.

EDIT//

I know see why I couldnt find the thread anymore its under Clubs & Leagues now and no longer in the Online racing section :(. I did subbed to the thread but usually scrolled the page . Hopefully we can get it back in the OLR section since that has more exposure 👍.

Mustang V8 GT Grove Park V1

R/H 1'18.273 I think to get this into the same ball park you'll be looking at R/M

R/M 1'17.340 It has so much understeer which is almost impossible to dail out, overtaking if you got anywhere near the other cars would be a nightmare.

I have no idea what times people are getting at this track, but I'll post mine anyway. I've only used 1 car so far, the Camaro SS '10, and my best time with it is a 1:15.850 on racing hard tyres with 513pp and the weight/BHP/aero used in Dgiant's list in post #561. I had to pit for new tyres at the end of lap 18, and my fuel had gone down exactly 1/3. If I'd not pushed the car so hard in the earlier laps of the run, I reckon I could've gotten 22 laps or so out of it before needing to pit.

I used stock settings on pretty much everything, apart from the ride height, which I've lowered on both ends by the same amount.

EDIT: 1:14.931 with the same car.

EDIT: Looks like I was running the car with the older regulations from this thread. I've just added another 8BHP to the car to get it to the 515pp limit. Should be even faster now. Still have no aero on the car though.

Flippin Heck Joe, straight in to the 14s. That's good. Are you using my track?
Haven't tried the Camaro yet, you can see my thoughts on the cars further up the page.

I'll be on at 10.30pm for a few.

1:14.6xx laps are possible in the Camaro, I was up by 0.234 before running wide later in the lap.

EDIT: Got it. 1:14.672

Im sorry but I believe using a set pp value will always create a one make series but on the other hand there is no way to set a handicap system (such as the FIA use) that we can police as of yet.
I would love to use any car with in reason that roughly fits the bill and regulate (plus or minus) it to an equal level.

Cheers Mikey

I ran a sort of handicap race here with a one make car but you could tune the car to your liking, this was more an abilities handicap whereby you had to make a timed lap.

Your target time in free run was between 1’55 to 1’57 the optimum being 1’56 ish. To do this the better driver would have to add ballast / limit engine power or use harder compound tyres, the slower drivers would do the opposite.

It did work quiet well for a first attempt with minimal work and testing going into it, but of course one has to leave their egos at the door and play the game when setting up your choice of car, if you can’t do this then you shouldn’t be taking part anyway.

Setting up an even race event taking into account differing abilities and, a mix of cars is not easy to cut out one guy being 30 seconds in the lead, a few mid pack and two guys being that far behind they don’t finish the race at all.

I think if you want to make things a success and get more members of differing abilities in to fill the grids, then you have to try and give them a leg up so they can enjoy the event as well.

Phillip.

Just wanted to say hi, looks like things are going well and I still have no access to the internet (I am working on it). I won't be able to check up on the thread from time to time, but am missing getting online with you gents.

Keep up the good work guys.
