Fun shot from the other day with Spy and I
EifelCircuit_45.jpg

Really digging the car and not having to tune anything. I find it much nicer driving a car that isn't flat and steady on every which corner... Untuned, stock cars seem to have more personality in my mind and thus become more fun for me to drive. And when it is fun I commit! lol... May have figured this out about me already, but I favour the more wilder cars in the game.

Very true tiggles I really don’t understand why anyone feels the need to sup up a super car, yes I can understand the slower cars being placed on a flowing track like GT_Park whereby it would take you 5 minutes to complete a lap, or to control the room setting so to be fair to all.

The Viper stock was fine, but bland, the only time there was any hint of it stepping out of line was if you used to much track and touched the grass edge, other than that it was like the track was made of glue. After a number of laps testing both cars and opening a room at 15.30 ish, I soon became very bored with the combo, little lack of imagination, it’s not the car or track, it’s what you do with them, which is the case for all combos.

I know we can’t always get it right most of the time its trial and error, this one is just a little too bland, only the introduction of other gave it any spark. Don’t let my comments put you off trying more combos; we have the tools there only limited by our imagination, if you find the combo fun to drive when all alone on track and you never want the tyres to wear out, doesn’t matter what the combo is, this one didn’t after 2 or 3 laps I was left feeling flat.

Oh side note when making the statement about bhp make sure you have your facts right first, as it some time comes back to bite you in the butt. As you can see in the photo.

Quote Just had the room setting to high... Nobody has 631HP

picture.php

At the time of setting the room stock I had 631bhp & as you can see when I left the bhp was still going up.

Phillip.

My statement was set on the basis of a stock car, just tagging on to what Dan was saying. And you can note I said nobody is set at 631

rooms set at 621... I just kept it short, assuming everyone would understand that they need not worry that if their cars not run in or what ever at 631.

With the Viper bring bland, I agree... That's why I wanted the corvette to be run aswell. But oh well, I got fun out of it

Your still not getting it right.

Your statment was if you look at your own post.

Oil change gets you to 618HP, just had the room setting to high... Nobody has 631HP

Rooms set at 621HP

Now your changing it too I said nobody is set at 631

When the room was setup yes someone did have 631 and yes when I was testing I was set at 631

It realy doesn't matter what the default bhp is I would have set the room to 611bhp then everyone would have to reduce down from default new car by 7hp and the run in cars.

The fact is you made a statment nobody has 631bhp yes they do

Okay, if you want to make a fuss... You weren't in the room at the time. To put what I said in context, there was confusion as to what people were running, so in the thread I was stated that nobody is (as in currently) higher than 621, AS the room setting is limited... Read it how ever you want. Either way, I don't see why you've made a big disclaimer about it. As the way I have read your comments has been in a negative tone, and now it's got me rowed up over a silly little thing that translates to a pointless argument giving the TCR forum an image of concern... My mind set isn't helped either by the fact it's a friday night and I'm writing a 5000 word argument based around violence in videogames, so yea. I'm in a mood. Good day

Not making a fuss just trying to help you as you go through life, if you put pen to paper and make a factual statement like the one you made (nobody has 631bhp) then make sure you have your facts right.

That’s why in the first reply I just showed in the picture that it is possible for this car to have more than 631bhp as mine has

Maybe a better statement would have been nobody has 631bhp but I could be wrong and stand to be corrected, this way you’re making the same statement but accept to be corrected if shown.

As you said here in one of your posts “And when it is fun I commit! lol... May have figured this out about me already” answer to this is yes, but you also have to remember that others maybe of the same mind and reply to what you comment on, as I too find this fun.

This conversation on what is or what is not is not detrimental to TCR at all, here on GTP your free to say what you like, it is also encouraged so long as it’s within the rules, this just shows that intelligent members can discuss something and help one another out.

I for one after many years of learning of getting things wrong am now one of the first to throw my hands in the air and say yes, I got it wrong when proven wrong, I’ll never let it happen again.

Right back to testing again on Mr D Curving Lanes track.

Lovely pictures Sam.

Viper bland?
I think it's a crazy car (whether it's 621hp or 631hp). It's not an easy car to drive and like Sam, I prefer not having to tune, plus you know it's a level playing field.

Also, I'm not sure how adding the corvette would make it less bland? Surely it would just add another layer of complication.

Phil and Gary, let me know what cars you're using on Curving Lines. Ideally I want to stick to 1 car stock, because it's easy. Bare in mind that everyone has the same online dealership, so it's doesn't have to be premium car.

Are people still keen to use the Viper tonight, or shall we try the Vett?

👍

Just an opinion which you I or tiggles has the right to pass, if the members are going to pass opinions on one combo, then its only right to pass opinions on all combos. I found it very bland, to sure footed after 2 or 3 laps of free run I was looking for something else to inspire me.

Looking back through the past events looks like a 50 / 50 split on tuned, none tuned and RM cars events.

I myself hate tuning that’s why when it’s a tuned event I buy the upgrades to conform but leave the settings at their default after installing.

But if TCR is after verity then you can’t just run stock all the time, or your losing part of the game options which goes towards making the online racing interesting.

But it’s your TCR your call if you wish to run stock then stock it is.

Curving lanes I had already said last week in testing the Toyota Supra RZ ’97 for the Wednesday, but if this is stock, then all the testing I’ve done so far is out the window, we’ll just have to start all over again.

Phillip.

I take your point about the car being very grippy but when pushed, it will still bite you. I have to say that for people like myself who don't get much time to practise and usually have to jump into a race at the weekend, having a car that is stable within its limits makes participation more fun. last night I was able to have some good battles with Alexi, Cpt D. and others for a few laps. Had the event been something difficult to drive, I would have given up and waited for the next combo, as it is I can't wait to get on again tonight

Your testing won't be out the window, I said "ideally stock", so we'll see what happens when we're all testing.

Having read that again, I realised that you're talking about Wednesday. Wednesday is 100% your bag Phil. You decide what happens and we do it.

I agree with you on all points except the 'easy car to drive'. Compare driving the 600+hp Viper with the Jag E-Type, which has around 350hp when we drove it on Wednesday.

Also, it's too quiet.

I'd like to see the Vette in action.

Hay guys there is still plenty more weeks, months and years ahead to find good combos. We can't get it right all the time. Some weeks we get it right and some we don't. It's all about driving around the problem, as a race driver you can not take the time to complain because you then get distracted and loose sight of the goal……and the whole point of it. And the point is….. to have fun.

I am no tuner but I like the idea of adding tuning (and it gives you something to do through the week and discuss things), if I can go through all my cars and find a good setup for all of them (not all of them mostly race cars) it would make it easier for me to jump into future races and go go go. PD hasn’t made it easy to host rooms with certain settings because I would just like sometimes to just add an air filter or just an exhaust or maybe a sports suspension but as it hard to police we can only hope in the future.

But once everybody has had a few laps around the track and knows where they are going it boils down to having some awesome battles on the track. Who has the pace and who has that car control, who can go the distance.

We’ll keep working to find that balance.

You should be working junior. I agree with u, I have only won a couple of races with u boys and I do not complain. It's a game lets just have fun. Pleeeeeaaaaasssseee.

Well said Jon.
It would be great if the room owner could choose what tuning parts people can have, but I guess we'll have to wait for GT9 for that.

However, I actually quite like hearing people's opinion, good or bad.
But be gentle with me...x

Track designed by turbonato
picture.php

One of the action pictures from Wednesday mid week break.

GTP_TwistyBits – GTP_Spyrrari1 in the two 300SL coupe Merc and myself GTP_Eriba lights blazing in the Jaguar E-Type in persuit.

This great track designed by turboanto with its rolling hills was a fitting place to try out some wet weather fun racing as a mid week break, the rain, wheel spray and the misty look to the hill side was a typical setting of British weather.

The dull look that has been captured by PD in GT5 is just what it would look like or very close to in real life, in testing which I must have spent some 20 hours or more with planning, car matching, thread posting, putting TCR on the calendar, was all worth doing even hosting the room for 7.5 hours yesterday for the enjoyment of the members, was all worthwhile.

I know that you can’t as the old saying goes, you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all the people all of the time. With the track I was given plus the car that was requested to be used, the event did not turn out to bad at all.

Thanks to all that did support with the two cars, which I might add were very closely matched in handling and lap times, the tyre choice was spot on for the changing conditions.

Phillip.

Phillip, that was a great event!! I loudly applaud all the effort that must go in to such an event! That was great fun, and it sure felt and looked real to me. I especially liked being close on the tail of Spy down the main straight and being able to see his wipers working. I fly small planes and even the buildup of small drops of rain on a slow moving vehicle (without the wipers working), then the streaking and clearing with the increase in speed is spot on. PD really hit the mark with all the cool effects!

And, thanks to everyone for the great racing and good manners! And, especially thanks to Alexi for the encouragement to show up. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to join, but I certainly will when I can.:)

Edit: TCR-Viper STR 10 only Room open 1472-6118-4130-9221-8092

Thank you Eric.
Coming from someone of your standard and the time that you’ve been around means a lot to anyone least of all me.

I was charged with finding things for( not my words) a mid week break from the main event / combo for the week, after many hours of work trying to find something whereby the racing would be secondary and the enjoyment and overall effect was foremost this is what I put to Jon and Alexi.

I think the picture captures it all of what I was trying to do.

The next Wednesday will be more racing than effect, but hopefully with more verity for the mid week break from the main event for next week.

One thing I don’t want to do is be in competition with the main combo for each week, we can jump in a race car and race all week if we want, that’s not what Wednesdays are about, my planning is for enjoyment not racing.

I’m looking forward to Wednesday 1st now at Gary’s Curving lanes, still working hard on it but its getting there.

Phillip.

TCR-Viper STR 10 only Room open 1472-6118-4130-9221-8092

My quickest is only a 1'30.989

Phillip.

Thanks to those who provided some great fun and a much needed end to a challenging day tonight 👍 A pleasure as always :)

This car seems to have the same effect as marmite.

Also, some say it's easy to drive, others say it's a dog.

I find it a real challenge. Driving the perfect lap is so hard, as it's all too easy to overdrive this car. Then you've got the tyre wear on the front tyres. I'm managing the tyres better now, but I just can't ever be 100% confident that the car will do what I tell it to.

It makes for good racing, although overtaking is very tricky, even on the straight.

Best free air 1.30.909, but was 4 tenets slower in sector 1 than my previous lap. I'm pretty sure the fastest guys can get in to the 29s.

Bart managed a 30.2, which I think is the best time so far?

Anyway, I'm off to do some gardening and I'll be online later chasing that 29!

Thanks for last night chaps!

P.s. Totally agree twisty, phil has added an extra dimension to TCR! It felt real for me too. I do a lot of karting around the uk and it's wet for around half the races, so felt at home. All I needed was a misty visor and a soggy bottom!

Don't know if this helps or not Alexi, both taken on the home straight of the last lap showing tyre wear in the same race.

Yours the the picture on the left mine is on the right.

My style of driving being ex-chauffeur may have a lot to do with it, very hard to keep a smooth run while your boss in entertaining a client in the back of the car drinking champagne.

Phillip.

Alexi and Jon

This is my proposal for next week's combo using the Curving Lanes track. Aston Martin is the manufacturer and the cars are the V12 Vantage '10 and DB9 '06, both are premium cars.

No tuning to be done but they will have to be balanced through power/weight or PP adjustments to make them equal with the use of sport hards for added spice! Perhaps tuning could be allowed for the end of the week for the power mad amongst us 👍

A big thanks to Phillip for his help in testing this combo, and I hope I have persuaded (Anyone remember The Persuaders?) to go for this combo. Cheers guys!
