I think there may be an account coming free soon. The good news is it's in the SE and comes from a respected player so you shouldn't get hassled. The bad news is it's in the heart of SC territory and only a jump away from anaracaix, so if you're not in SC you might be wiped out starting tomorrow.

What bloody build strategies do some players use? I'm still trying to get a good balance of resource level raising going and there are already 5 member alliances and 30+ village populations.

My village has a population of 30 so far, I looked in the ranking and for the first time I was in the top 1000. Five minutes later I look again and I'm in 1008. 
I never played much Travian in the old version so I don't know a good starting strategy. I'll just keep leveling up my resources for now.

Thats a good starting strategy. Its what I'm doing for the next few days.
My productions are:
Lumber: 20 per hour
Clay: 20 per hour
Iron: 20 per hour
Grain: 12 per hour
Once I get to a good rate I'll build some stuff and start raiding. And from there the rest, they say, is history.
Oh .. don't feel too bad about the drop in the ranks. Yesterday at around 6pm I was number 2 and now I'm number 1200 something. There's so many people with the same amount of population that you just start dropping and don't stop for a while.

When I started s6 a few weeks ago, I was raiding after just over 3 hours of playing. My 2 clubbies served me very well. 
Too bad the closest village that wasn't under noob was a 3 hour round trip. I now have 85 clubbies (I stopped building them in favor of Paladins) and 25 Pals. Not too bad for a population of 149.

I have an inbound attack on s1.
I logged in quick to see how long until it is deleted and had the dreaded flashing swords.
I already had 2 clubbies. By the time he gets there, there will be 10. He probably thinks it'll be an easy raid - attacking someone with a population of 11 that hasn't changed in 3 days. *he upgraded a few res fields and the quit* Wrong.
I hope he sends less than 5.
Edit: I just ran numbers and even if it is a raid and not an attack I'll have just enough time to have my clubbies follow his troops home and more than likely finish them off. Attack hits in just over 2.5 hours.

I'm starting to build to be able to raid people. The whole 20 res/hour thing isn't quite working for me. I built my rally point and finally upgraded my main to level 2 today. I'm building up crop production at the moment and I'll be pumping a few troops by tomorrow hopefully, then the fun begins and all the whiny IGMs start flooding.

Someone else attacked me when I was out for lunch. He sent 2 clubbies and didn't get a report. 
The attack I was waiting for just hit. He sent 4 clubbies. My 8 took out 2 and my remaining 5 are now en route to his village to finish the other 2 off.
