to james. i would like that too but imagine the extra work cyril would have to do. maybe if he could leave out the skylines it would be doable. cyril, if you consider this then know i'd be more than happy to assist. our contribution could be to list all eligible cars.

to cyril. great work on the listings! excellent overview, and VERY nice (this week before the first replay deadline anyway) to see my name all over the place.

i improved my lap in the tommy kaira from 58.549 to 57.878 thanks to ron who set me up and who holds the fastest time in that car for now.

new laptimes:
honda beat '91 - 1.08.096 (great little car, good looks too)
honda s800 - 1.09.226 (s600 setup used from tibbs at gtvault)

EDIT quickscan for the extra cars (thanks to kerr of gtvault for the advanced car search):
2050-2500 cc 16x
2500-3000 cc 54x
3000-9999 cc 18x
i thought it'd be more so cyril might be tempted. i've got sort of a list already prepared.

2,051 - 2,550 cc : 15 japanese cars ;
2,551 - 3,050 cc : 52 ;
3,051 + : 23

I don't like to cut-off displacement categories at round numbers.
For instance a 1,998 cc engine is definitely a 2.0 litre, but the Miata 1800 has a 1,839 cc engine. That's why the 1.8 litre category ends at 1,850.

I didn't want to allow them at first because I thought that they would simply smoke all other cars, and I thought all the RX-7's, Lancers and Imprezas would be closer.
But since we have many categories, why not add a few ones.

Hi Cyril. Me again! You've got my CRX in the wrong category. It's in with the 1.6 litres, but it's only a 1.5.

I know, but with 229 cars I can't decently make too many categories, which is the reason why I have to use a wide range :
1.6 litre : cars with a displacement ranging from 1,450 to 1,649 cc (40 cars) ;

Post times from #87 on down then? Got a little quicker in the mr2 1600 sc '86

1.00.078

See you all in a week or so...

But since we have many categories, why not add a few ones.
it sounded like you wanted to follow up on our suggestions, but now i see no changes in your post #1. so will you yes or no up the 2.050 limit to 9.999 or will you not my steward?
just don't keep us uncertain ...
thanks - s

I still don't know.
I have the lists ready, but I'm bothered by the fact that the Honda NSX-R Prototype Road Car and the Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car will trust all the top spots on the overall board, with their p/w ratio at about 1.2 when the Supra RZ and all other 800+hp beasts hardly reach 1.5
I want to give them a try before I decide to include or to ban them.

Edit :
The R390 tops at 868hp for only 1038kg. In 2 laps is ran a 51.874 with my crappy setup and tons of wheelspin (remember, we're on sports).
After only 2 laps, the Supra RZ is only at 57.8 seconds.
I'll take a decision tomorrow night, if you have any suggestion in the meantime, feel free to post it here.

i understand that, so i say: adios all the concept-like cars that wouldn't be in the dealer showrooms and only admit the normal buyable sort of cars. far easier for you, fun for us, and nobody would care if some of those unreal supercars were downed.

I've finally got something started with this race. :dopey:
Ran 76 miles in an Evo 8 MR under full mod with a tuner stage 5 turbo. Took the laps down to 55.1.
Not submitting yet since I want to break into the 54 range. Back tomorrow evening I imagine.
Till then,
-

while waiting for cyril's verdict on banning the 2050cc limit and open up this wonderful challenge to the faster cars, i was browsing thru the car list and came up with the nissan 200sx '96. its ptw was promising but the driving sort of disappointed: 59.841. i will try to better this later on, but probably only after cyril has done a first no-replay cleanup.

a question on that subject anyway. if i'm erased from the list after a no-replay checkup and i want to submit again for that car, would it have to be a faster time than the previous one or not?

Latest times posted are not taken into account.
Steven : you usually don't mention the full car name, so I'd like confirmation that it's the Nissan 200SX '96 and not the Nissan 200SX (S14) '06.

Speedy_racer : there are 7 eligible Subaru Legacy for this event. Could you be more accurate ?

Dang fellas, making it hard on the man aren't you (leaving out this and that with your submissions). ;)

I didn't know the 2050 rule was in debate!
If it was a voting process I would say keep the rule in place. Opening this up to faster "cars" would just mean you could run a Skyline and get the easy fast laps. :indiff:

Also, about this...
i will try to better this later on, but probably only after cyril has done a first no-replay cleanup.

a question on that subject anyway. if i'm erased from the list after a no-replay checkup and i want to submit again for that car, would it have to be a faster time than the previous one or not?

Does this mean you're not supported by replays?
If not, I wouldn't waste Cyril's time. He's busy and doing this straight out of his own personal time (he's not getting paid for this job).
Submitting times you know will be removed, then re-submitting them when they are removed is just rediculus. :indiff:

I'm not the one to make decisions in that area, that's all Flat-Out. However, if I was "the man" I would certainly not want to keep updating the list to reflect lacking replays and substitution submissions once the no-replay clean up is done.

Heck, what's the point of doing a no replay cleanup if everyone is just going to re-submit their replay-less laps?

Good luck with that one Flat-Out.
Of course, I trust you will decide what is best for the race regarding the 2050 rule (I'm cool with that either way but I preffer the original concept).

Finally, keep your eyes on your mirrors fellas, when I get home today it's going to be the Evo 8 MR at Tsukuba until I break under 0'55.000. :mischievous:

 Later!

Thanks Ron :) 👍
Would be nice if I could end up on the podium
(Improved slightly to a 51.409 and still working on it, sorry Ron :) )

Think that I´ll have to get my hands dirty and start fiddling with the setup :scared:
Not to keen on that, really... Not that good at it, you see!
So you guys are probably gonna blast past me soon anyhow :)

Laters 👍

sorry bro. you're right bothways. i wasn't complete in carspeccing AND it was the '96 car.

hoping you're considering dropping the 2050 thingy AND that you'll answer my Q about the no-replay cleaning and re-entering of NEW AND FASTER (to kent) laptimes for the same car.

EDIT tried a real smallie - the cappucino that's on top of the midgets list

Sorry for the confusion... I understood that your lap was going to be new and faster. The point I was getting at was that it would be silly to submit a new, faster lap only to have it removed because it's not supported.

But hey, if you are going to support the new faster time then you should submit it without a doubt. 👍

Plus, it all comes down to Flat-Out's opinion on the matter so my points are pretty much pointless. :boggled:

How's the Evo VIII coming along, Kent? :mischievous:

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI GSR Tommi Makkinen '00
0'54.981

EDIT: After reviewing the my replay again, the above time should be considered dirty. It's questionable whether I had three wheels of at the exit of turn one :grumpy: Sorry Cyril, I should've looked closer before posting.

Mazda Miata 1800 RS '04
0'57.222

Mazda Autozam AZ-1 '92
1'06.727

I'll post replays and more info for all my runs later today :)

Hey Luxy, :D
The Evo's coming well... I hadn't done any work on it until I read your comment. Then yesterday I went to the LSU game (first time for me), so time's been short until today. Took the time to race today and went from 55.1 to 55.0... Will come back when I beat your Evo6. :mischievous:

 Nice work on that btw. 👍

And of course, that's not a submission Cyril. I'll clearly mark real submissions in a format that mimics the records.
Until then,

Boards updated.

Extended car selection :
I finally decided not to include extra cars... yet.
The event has only been posted last sunday, and over 200 cars are eligible.
I think that provides enough variety for years of racing, and the initial idea was to give a chance to cars we don't use very often, hence the multiple boards dedicated to midgets, FF cars...
Including the Supras and 3000GT's and their kin now is not necessary IMO.
I'm not saying I will never include them, only that it's definitely too early. We still have so much to experiment and discuss with the current eligible cars.
In my dreams we could make a whole series out of this event, like "ok, let's try and tune car X this week, to see what are the better settings and what time we can achieve on this track"...

Replays :
Many replays have been posted already (26), all of them remain to be checked, but I think that deleting times that are not backed up by a replay yet would be spoiling all the fun some racers may have running this race.
I mean, what's the point in deleting from the records Bigracer's time which is currently first on the 6-cylinder board ? When people start to use 6-cylinder cars, this time ran in the '67 Toyota 2000GT will be several inches down the page.
So I don't want to enforce the no-replay no-record rule yet.
Those who have replay devices : keep on providing replays (I still need to upload mine), and we'll consider this issue again later.
I still need to upload all replays on my website and add a link to them on the leaderboards. That'll be done during the week.

well i sure hope you often dream of more exciting things than that!

thank you for nullifying my achievement in this odd but great looking car
btw i still need a better setup to improve that time so to all aliens: you're welcome to provide this thread with one.

Subaru WRX STI Spec-C '04
0'54.200

@stidriver: Very nice work on your WRX time  I had to see how you managed that time in the Subaru, so I had a look at your replays (5 are good and clean, but I couldn't get the miata replay loaded up on my ps2). Somehow I'm losing a lot on the exit of turn one and the last hairpin. Would you mind sharing your settings?

@kent: Looks like we've got a little evo battle brewing :mischievous: I watched my Evo VI replay again, and it's got a questionable 3 wheels off moment :grumpy: That car had 43000+kms on it, so I decided to pick up a brand spankin' new Evo VI MR and try for a clean(er) time (I really wish you could put an AYC controller on the RS model, that's 100kg lighter, but no such luck...).

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII GSR MR '03
0'54.144

I think the Evo VIII can break into the 53's, with the TCS turned off, but it's damn hard to control the wheelspin

 👍
I've been running without any TCS or AYC in my Evo8MR.
However, early I did consider putting up some work with an Evo6 TME RS. :mischievous:
Should be a fast car and with some tuning I am sure I can get something out of it... Just have to raise some money first. :D

Any way, back in a bit once I've had some Evo6 fun.
Till then,
-

Btw, I'm sure the Evo8mr can go under 55. 👍

Luxy I will look at the MX-5's replay. For The STIC I did a quick set-up. I think I only lower the ride height some, -1 on front toe, +1 on rear bar, max wing, and stock diffs. I did give the EVO a run. It's needs more palying.
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII MR GSR '04 (full tune) 53.845

Well StiDriver,
Looks like your fast, good job. 👍

Just ran the Evo8 RS and came down with 54.586.
I'll post the official submission later on when I have the specs and whatnot.
Also, both of the Evos have been equipped with Original Turbos and the RS was on Tuner Suspension. (built a while back for something else).
... Until next time...
