TT #47: 450pp GT86 Grand Valley, 600pp Indy Road course

Well, that was a good TT both events. The first was a good tuning test for the Scion FR-S. the Indy 600 pp race car was very informative and a very good test. I do have a 2J but tried a variety of other cars. Also, in the 20,000 rank bracket fractions of a sec can move you up or down thousands of spots. So what I learned:

Mazda RX-7 TC tuned to 600 pp was the best and got me into the mid 1:32s - aero about 2/3 and LSD down to minimums. 182 mph end of straight. Stable and nice handling car.
Detuned Corvette C5R second best, just missed gold by .3 seconds
Motul Autech GT-R best of Japan Super GT, high 1:33s, tail happy.
Weider HSV first choice tuned up but a hair slower
Gillette Vertigo detuned only low 1:34s
BMW Fina McClaren detuned too slow and very tail happy
Toyota 7 detuned too slow, only 165 mph at end of straight.
GT-R TC detuned too slow around tight esses, felt heavy.

Indy course not the greatest, too flat and hard to pick up braking points. So there it is from the 17,000s level. Whoever or whatever picks the Gold times this is right at this skill level. Rest the thumbs time.

Thankyou for this post. I have been using some different cars for the 600pp TT too so i'm happy to know how you went. I've used the Nomad diablo, cermo JGTC supra, and JGTC NSX and got gold times with all of them. I've tried to tame the Pangani's. The LM Zonda was too handicapped to be of much use, but the '09 Zonda, though a hand full at nearly every corner, was fast. If i can hold together a hot lap with a good tune on it i feel it might come in fastest for me.

Just as an aside, indy isn't so bad, tie your braking points to the bridges and banners that hang over the track. Or at the end of the start finish line tie it to the black box on a stick before the first braking marker if the car won't pull up fast enough.

But how come when you buy a used car in UCD it has the dirty oil right? But after you change its oil it gets more hp? Im quite lost....

Clean Oil-No Tuning
1000kg, 500hp, 500PP

Clean Oil- Detuned
1000kg, 496hp, 496PP

Dirty Oil- No Tuning
1000kg, 496hp, 492PP

Dirty Oil- Tuned
1000kg, 504hp,500PP
 
IIRC, having a car with dirty oil gives more power but less torque... that's how it balances the PP rating.

A question/request for the fast guys like Stotty.
On the basis that I am faster with my tunes than the tunes that have been posted on here, would one of you be willing to try my tune out on the TT if I post it. I am by no means a pro tuner, this would be more for me to see if I am going wrong on my tunes.
I figure if one or more of the faster guys think my tune is slow then I am going about it all wrong, and instead I should maybe try and alter my driving style to suit the tunes on here.
Its the grand valley test.
Thanks.This what I'm dealing with. Maybe someone could start a thread in the tuning forum and test other people's tunes?. I usually do my own tuning because I just can't seem to go any faster with the tunes that are posted. I try to adjust my style and/or tweak it but no luck. Maybe I just need to improve my skills.
The other thing he could do is download 1st place's replay and watch *why* that person has got the fastest time. Then it is easier to understand why people are using the tunes that they are using.
As for myself i tune cars to suite my driving styles; it's easier to do that rather then to learn alternative driving styles on tunes that you aren't used too, especially if you have limited time.

Tried that, I seem to be doing the same thing on the first part of the course. Up to the first tunnel for instance, I can keep with them (just). I seem to be doing the same thing as the first few guys. Downloaded the top guy and the first BRZ replay. Part of the reason is they are obviously just better than me. Throttle control or just being able to hold the car better. Certainly from the tunnel onwards, I would say this is the main factor.
At the start though even though better, and even when I do a good run and keep up with their ghost, it just seems to pull slightly ahead at every point.
 
Question, does anyone uses motorstages for GV?

I haven't used engine tuning, only 'bolt on' parts.

I'm not sure what others are using, but I suspect Yinato may be using a slightly different power/weight combo as he was pulling away from me on the straights when I was chasing his ghost (he was pulling away in the corners too! :D).

As of typing i think ive been doing some good stints this past weekend on both TTs currently 124th on 450pp and 182nd on 600pp (as of typing) :)

On 450pp TT i really bow down to everyone on 2'07 barrier especially 2'06 barrier! Fantastic drives guys! I dont know if its me or theres something terribly wrong with what im doing LOL!

On 600pp TT so far stuck on 1'23 barrier and not quite sure how to lower it to at least break 1'23 barrier LOL!

These TTs are really fun and makes me push harder and harder every lap! All thanks to those fast guys there and all thanks to people that share their tunes here! 👍

Driving with Active Steering is a joke and some ABS 3 and Traction Controll.
That are girls this guys should drive Mario Kart.
With Active Steering its nothing more racing.
I know this because iam karting Pilot.

Yup i agree active steering and abs is a joke, it would be nice if PD could do a few TT's without driving aids (other then GT forumla 1). Still that would be somewhat unfair for stick drivers - ABS 1-2 is ok for them.

How can you see they are using Active Steering?

I must admit I use active steering sometimes :guilty:. I use a G27 with 900 degrees radius. The 900 degrees is a selling point but I actually would like to be able to limit it to 200 degrees, for example. For race cars 900 degrees is too much and not realistic. This is why I use active steering.

Any thoughts?

It shows if you select the player (press x) in the 'in-game' leaderboards.

But it doesn't show for me on the GT5 leaderboards at gran-turismo.com for some reason.
 

AS or ASM is Active Stability Management not Active Steering. I use Active Steering but AS is 0 in the leaderboard for me (see LeaderBoard 600 pp spot 190).

I do not use Active Stability Management. I believe you can not see if someone is using Active Steering.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to rip on people who use aids. It is their choice, not yours. Really getting tired of you people bashing others just because of the aids we choose to use. Yes, I use ABS 1 and active steering, so the hell what. I will tell you this, I'm no girl and no, I should'nt drive Mario Kart. I don't care who you are or how good you are, that still does not give you the right to bash other people. Come down off your elitist pedistal and join the rest of us.

Yeah, thanks for pointing that out, I always thought AS is active steering ... looks like the site needs to include active steering in the list.

Leading a world wide TT is a fine thing and you're very good at them IMMORTALPILOT. So why now,when you're leading this current one,do you feel the need to trash the rest of the top 10 competitors with your cheap comments?...👎

In a nutshell, dirty oil allows you to get higher HP to achieve the same PP as a car with clean oil.

Its called "elitism". Sometimes success goes to one's head. Its a sad thing really.

ImmortalPilot is more likely making statement filled with his own pride on his own achievement, and questioning why others don't follow his footstep to achieve the time like the way he did it ( no aids ) no matter the result are, and instead resort to active steering and other aids to compensate.

The rest are just his opinion and he mainly refers it to the top 10 guys.

He may need to choose better words, but as english is not his native language, I don't really bothered by the statement.
