So no changes now, everybody is crystal ok, we can start with that ?

To begin with, I can't find the car :)

New dealership. It doesn't actually show "BBS wheel option" in the name; you're just after the 2010 Impreza sedan. đź‘Ť

Someone fill me in, I'm tuning a max hp Impreza on Trial Mountain for time trial/speed purposes?

Yes, on S3 tires.

Edit: Hmm, this thing's got quite a bit of potential... I must say that it's not got the same character as the pre-Kia Imprezas though.

Edit again: Holy rapid car batman. Still doesn't drive like a pretzel should but hey, it's QUICK.

This Kia is pretty quick and it can handle somewhat nicely but it's not fun to drive. :indiff:

I've only got a few more issues to work out of it and it should be good. But yeah, it doesn't like to do anything fun, even if you DO coax the tail out it's not entertaining.

Bloody Kia, give me back my real Impreza.

Why did people even want this car tuned, it handles really well with stock settings already. Anyway my question is are we allowed to change the rims? I don't think it affects the weight, and also we are tuning the car on sport soft correct?

Yes and yes.

Also, I didn't feel it handled all that well in stock form honestly... Masses of understeer followed by more understeer; before even taking it to Trial I knocked off a full second at Cape Ring North from just small tweaks and I've now taken roughly 2 seconds off the initial Trial time. It's faaaaaaaast. Just... Still no fun.

Thats probably true, however I did straight away set it to full down force and set both the front and back brake sensitivity to 5. So i didn't notice too much under steer off throttle and at turn in. However I was testing on the nurburging so that may be the reason. Just getting used to the car before I get to tuning.

Yeah the Ring seems to do a pretty good job of masking understeer... But it's also good at slightly exaggerating a loose condition. Might take it back there to see exactly how loose I can make the car without it being deadly and see where I wind up at Trial.

This is exactly the direction which I plan to go with the car, despite all the confusion with who is running the TGB it has actually got me quite intrigued. It will be interesting to see what direction everyone goes with the car.

Also do you know if the tuners will have access to other tuners tunes after the tuning period has finished?

No idea; the way it was run in GT4 was each person would post their vehicles in a dedicated thread for the setups for the world to see... Seems it will likely be run entirely via e-mail this time though.

If people feel no need for anonymity, then posting them publicly would work fine. I was trying to avoid favoritism, but technically with about 20 drivers it would be hard for any single person to sway the results to favor any single garage. I'm open to a dedicated thread, I just worried that due to the different times of each garages post, another garage could modify their tune before entry?

Updated the first page with the following:

February

Car: 2010 Impreza sedan, which can be purchased through the new car dealership: Suburu.
Tuning: Maximum Horsepower, including, but not limited to, all and every available upgrade.
*This includes Chassis Stiffening from the Tuning Shop.
Weight: Minimum weight. This includes all stages of weight reduction, window lightening, carbon hoods, rims, carbon driveshaft, etc.
Tires: Sport - Soft
Track: Trial Mountain
Take into account, that multiple tracks may be used, as well as the adoption of the 'round' idea used in the previous thread.
Tune Deadline: February 9th at 11:59pm PST is the latest an entry will be accepted.
Tune Submission: Currently being decided between an email system, or dedicated thread.
*Absolutely no editing to posts will be allowed as of Midnight PST February 10th. You may edit your post, prior to this time, for mistakes.
Test drivers: May begin testing tunes at their leisure, no sooner than February 10th. 12:00am PST. Since edits are allowed until this point, testing sooner than this time may cause discrepancies.
Further rules will be decided and added as adapted and adopted between the two challenge system designs, to provide what I feel will be the best outcome for everyone.

regarding the competition, i would keep it anonymously
for the same reasons which Adrenaline mentioned

if a tuning garage wants to publish their setup anyway they can still do that in their own thread after the test driving is done

First page looks great. Just one question, are there two BlueShifts? He is listed with a garage at number 6 and as an independent at 13.

Doc

Haha, this is because I will kick your ass twice ! :D

Discovery run with the car... Well... Car. :/
Note that PD Cup in Expert have this circuit if you want credits while tuning.

Anyway, I think we should do something for the top speed, like the same for each tune, because this is pilot dependant. What do you think ?

Minimum weight allowed? I thought it was mandatory so test drivers didn't have to build 4 of them :)

Re-worded.

As for Blueshift... That's what happens when I copy/paste on top of my previous list. Corrected ;)

I thought this was brought up previously, where it was agreed, that new cars wouldn't use chassis, and used cars would. Regardless, I feel it's best to mandate 1 or the other, to keep it as simple as possible. To remain constant, I'm going to add that it is required. We're only in day 2 of tuning. The people who added it can't go back, where as the people who didn't can purchase and install it still. I'll add this to both posts. Apologize for the inconvenience, just another example...

Personally with the tune submission it would be easier to let people post them on the forum but it could have repercussions if there is a close contest and acusations fly about tune copying. For that fact it would make more sense for one person to get them and then email them out.

Also making sure nobody edits theres after the cut off date would prove to be interesting. It could be done if say Adrenaline started a thread and locked it, but then he would have to unlock it when someone wants to post there tune.

To me it seems as much hassle to post them as it does to collect them and email them.

just my 2c.

When you edit a post, a small message appears in green below it, stating when it was edited.

Edit: Like below. :P

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but we can add full suspension, LSD and Center Diffs, cluches, flywheels, etc. right? If not, it wouldn't be much of a tuning battle. Just thought I would ask because it does not say we can.

One other question. If part of my tune is a driving aid like say traction control or ABS, then are the drivers required to use these same aids as part of my tune?

You are right. Must have been on another forum that i had the option to disable it. Maybe it was when i was Admin on one. Either way your right. :sly:đź‘Ť

I take this to mean any available upgrade in the shop.

On the topic of driving aids i thought it was said that it was ABS 1 only??? but i could be wrong. Thats all i ever drive with.

Now that I have the email, we can proceed with doing it that way, to make things more uniformed and organized.

All upgrades are allowed as far as drivetrain ect go, as Shaneth quoted.

Driving Aids, will be restricted to ABS @ 1, and driving line.
All others are pro hobi dato!
