TURTLE RACING LEAGUE - ENDURO Racing Series - PRACTICE TONIGHT!

I won't be confusing you with anyone else TZRacer. :)
good races last night, i rather enjoyed the chaos of that Fair Lady despite all my bitching about her.

The Fairlady Z is pretty good around there, as long as you can get her slowed down for turn 1 in time. lol

I've piled my car up in turn 1 a couple of times.i can't seem to find a good braking point for turn 1.Also don't enter pit road wide open. Half way thru your wreck it puts you back at entry to pit road. 90 mph seemed to work on fresh tires. Don't know about speed for entry on worn tires though. Thanks to choste51 back on pg 315 for telling us how to test pit road.Gonna be a fun race.

One way to pick a braking point is to brake early. If you find you want to hit the gas before turn in.... Keep braking later and later until you find that point where you can't get turned in, in time to hit your apex. Keep in mind as tires wear, or drafting, that braking points will be earlier.

Sometimes the point will be right at a hard visual reference, other times I will use a count after the that visual cue. With some cars you can use the sound of the motor to pick your brake point.

Thanks for the advice.Never thought about counting after a visual cue.I will try that tonight.
You guys are the best.

Looking forward to Saturdays race. Can I change the colour of my car? I am still awaiting an answer......

Chameleon Blue with white wheels.

Chameleon Blue with white wheels.

Yes, you can change the colors. I have seen those chameleon colors and they are unique enough not to be confused with regular blue.

I'm really looking forward to my first race in the league. I don't see my name in the front page though. Will it show up after I have participated in one race?

Also, is there any rule related to pit stops? Like a number of mandatory stops or something like that?

Thanks!

Hey peterrod, the "Drivers List" is updated now. There are no mandatory pit stops. We look forward to racing with you as well! 👍

I might be able to make this one.

As far as tricks to turn 1, eventhough it's been 2 plus years since I've tried it in this car I think you just have to be very easy on the brakes, so take a braking point a bit further back then you want.

Or, adjust the brake bias so you can control the weight transfer to the front. The higher your brake bias up front the quicker that weight shifts forward and the more the tires traction is being used for slowing the car, thus making the car unstable and go straight.

I've been known to have 2 different bias's for the different sides of the track One for the chicane and turn 1, and another for the rest.

Could I also ask of one request: Could I run a yellow car with blue wheels in honor of the vitcims of the Boston Marathon? I grew up 20 minutes away and would love the opportunity for this one race.

Great Choate51, we hope you can make it! And you are most welcome to use the colors requested. 👍

That's a really nice gesture Choate. 👍

Last week divisions 2,3 and div.A raced together. Will it be the same this week? That was a lot of fun.

Depends how many racers show up in each division if there's like 6/7 or more in each division they will race just with the division racers and not combine the room, if there's very few racers from each division, then division 3/A will come over to division 2.

How is the pit lane exit going to work in Daytona Road? The game lets you go before turn one, but that can be really messy. Are we supposed to follow the pit lane ourselves all the way through turn 1 and then exit where the pit lane actually ends after turn 1?

Just thought it's better to make this clear before the race. If somebody is flying into this first turn and another car is exiting the pits where the game lets you go, it will be almost impossible to give the way to the fast car. Just asking. Thanks.

The best and safest thing to do is keep an eye on the map,if you see someone almost at T1 just slow up a bit and wait when exiting pit road.Let them go by.

I like taking the longer pit road around turn 1.. It's just as fast and easier to stay out of everyone's way. If there is no one on the straight then I see no problem using the exit they give you.

Turtle Racing League - Enduro Racing Series

Race 35: Daytona Road Course
Car: Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34) '08
Laps: 23
Tires: Sports Softs
Date: April 20, 2013
Prize: 1994 Birthday Ticket

The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports
"It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free."

Rules

You are expected to follow The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports and adhere to the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and exercise Good Racecraft at all times, especially in turn 1.

"Rubbin"

This is a non-contact sport. Let me put it another way, if you are "rubbin", you ain't racing in this league! We will not tolerate individual drivers taking the fun out of racing for everyone.

First Turn

You are not going to win the race on the 1st turn or the 1st lap. Therefore, it is the policy of this league for you to hold your position in turn 1. Holding your position in the first turn is limited to the first turn on the first lap. You must hold your position through the 1st turn and make no attempt to advance it unless the following situations occur: 1) The driver directly in front of you is asleep on the start. 2) The driver directly in front of you runs off course with at least 2 wheels off the track. 3) Obvious race incidents that must be avoided. Other drivers may draft past you before the approach to turn 1 if it can be done incident free. In other words, if you are able to fully draft past someone without incident or disruption to the other driver(s) with a reasonable distance before approaching the first turn you may. This rule is in place for 2 reason: (1) to avoid incidents in the first turn, and (2) so that drivers doing their part to avoid incidents in the 1st turn of are not taken advantage of. There is no sense in causing an incident in the congestion of the first turn. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to take advantage of other drivers doing their part to keep turn 1 incident free. If a complaint is filed, the decision we make will be one that promotes an incident free first turn.

Dive Bombing

Dive bombing is unacceptable, and only results in accidents. It is not the same as passing under braking. Dive-bombing is when a trailing car intentionally brakes late to dive underneath the car in front of them as they are turning into a corner. The trailing driver must move to the low groove for at least 3-4 seconds prior to corner entry, so that the leading driver can see the trailing drivers intentions in his mirror. However, running the low groove is not a guarantee that he will allow you to pass, it is only an indication that you wish to pass him on the low side.

Procedures

• Division 1 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division1 lounge

• Division 2 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division2 lounge

• Division 3 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division3 lounge

Connection Issues

Please follow the procedures below to help minimize connection issues.

Step 1: Reboot your modem/router
Step 2: Reboot your PS3
Step 3: Clear your GT5 in game System Cache

Pit Stops

Drivers need to be very careful entering the race track when exiting the pit. Please look at your map to see if other drivers are near the pit exit. Drivers exiting the pit need to stay in the pit exit lane until the track is clear of cars on the track. Cars on the track have the right of way.

Quitting

Drivers are expected to finish races no matter what position they are in. Rage quitting is frowned upon! :grumpy:

Microphones

Although you are welcome to use microphones during the race, they should only be used to communicate your proximity to other drivers in order to avoid an incident. Otherwise, either mute them or make sure any background noise in non-existent.

Reminders

• Hold your position and do not attempt advance it in turn 1 of lap 1

• If you go off track make sure the track is clear before you renter

• If you cause an accident you must wait and give the position back

Race Incidents

Legitimate complaints are encouraged, they insure a better racing environment for everyone. Complaints should be addressed by "Private Message" to the race steward of the race in which the incident occurred. Please include race number, lap number, and time of incident. A ruling will be announced after a video review by an independent steward. All racing incidents or racing related issues shall be dealt with privately and under no circumstance mentioned publicly.

Final Note

Race Clean and Have Fun!

I doubt I make the race tonight. I wasn't at practice Wednesday either. I'm on my 13th day in a row working at my current job and must be spending my off time searching for work in the Dalton, GA/ Chattanooga, TN area. My wife recently accepted a teaching position at Dalton State College.

Any leads you guys have for IS/IT work in that area would be great! Slim chance but worth a shot.:)

hope to make it in time for this race, not sure about the car or tires but meh I will be racing with slower guys and there is plenty of room on this track to pass or be passed :sly:
