Respect!

I cancelled a fishing trip to watch Le Mans this weekend. (Our boat, so we can reschedule anytime)

I do have a friend bringing over a 79 Fiat Spider he just bought so we can cruise the back roads of the Pocahontas State Forest!

To those racing see you saturday...
To everyone else, enjoy your weekend

Lucky you!! My dad is talking about buying a Perception Pescador 12' kayak. Looked at the reviews and I may pick one up as well to cruise around the lake.

They shocked the water here last year and found a new world record large mouth. I've never bass fished in my life, but I just ordered a Lews tournament mg to learn. Something to do during the spawn of catfish ;)

Have fun!

It has been decided that penalties will be turned OFF for the race this week at LeMans. Happy racing Turtles.

Those penalties at the ford chicanes are ridiculous. Even though I think that completely removing the penalties is a little risky, as it could encourage abusing the use of curbs in that part of the circuit, I believe we are adult enough not to take advantage of this issue. Especially in these chicanes. I wish there was a way of making that penalty shorter and not having to remove them altogether, but 10 seconds do ruin a race completely. I'm really looking forward to this race.

I think that's a good decision and should keep the field closer together. Keep in mind everyone that it also means you will need to avoid lapped traffic as they will not ghost. You should be doing this anyway, but in case you dont, be aware.

Why don't we just make a rule, if you gain a position by cutting a corner whether intentional or forced (someone squeezing you down to force you to brake or something) you should give it back. Obviously if you need to cut a corner to avoid a wreck there would be no penalty

Depends on what you call corner cutting. You'll really need a definitive guide for this course. You could say 2 tires in contact with track at all times, but there are some spots I wouldn't consider track

Guys, lets all just be gentleman and responsible when it comes to turning off the penalties. If you accidentally cut a corner and feel you gained a time advantage at all, whether racing with another or not, just slow down and penalise yourself for the infraction.

If you pass someone or keep your position by going off track to gain an advantage, then obviously give the position back to them. I trust everyone here to do the right thing.

Turning off penalties does not change any of our rules:
"You are encouraged to read and adhere to the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and exercise Good Racecraft at all times, especially in turn 1."

If the game would have given you a penalty for what you did, then maybe you need to give yourself one. Penalties are only off because of the 3 or 4 places where it really shouldn't give such a severe penalty just for touching a curb or having a wreck. You should still drive the track as if most of the legitimate penalties are still there. In other words, stay on the track at all times! Curbs are track.

As usual, rare exceptions include heavy traffic, where going slightly off track to avoid collisions is best, and in cases where you have lost control.

Although that first picture looks like he's off track to me LoL. I'd stay on the striped part.

Ehhh, that first picture is pushing it, I'd consider that cutting the corner

Nah that's legal, but its hard to tell if you race bumper cam just how close to legal you are.

I don't know the curve names for la sarthe but I'd consider the blue portion of the track illegal (the last corner before the 1st long straight, to the right of the last corner before the last chicanes) if you have all 4 on it. I'd also count the cut out parts illegal too (where the first orange cones are and the green are)

I think I'm going to sit this round out. I just don't agree with running this track without penalties. The pictures above are insane in my eyes as I don't feel a single tire should be allowed on the opposite side of any curb brick, let alone 3/4's of the car. I think Sarthe's penalty system is accurate and if anything a little bit lenient. There are too many turns where it polices fair driving and maintains race etiquette ( and I'm not even talking about the usual corners like the Ford Chicanes and Mulsanne corner, I'm worried about corners like the left hand exit of the Porsche curves, dunlop curve, and tetre rouge where everyone runs wide and unfairly carry exit speed). With all the drafting zones, not regulating exit angles/ speed through penalties punishes proper lines. When I'm not running in Turtle Racing League, I'm running Le Mans...and even with the cleanest drivers with the best intentions this doesn't work for me. I saw 3 cars take penalties in practice for doing what I'm worried about behind me and I feel they should have been penalized. I know many are going to disagree with how I feel, but I've taken 3 times more laps on this track than all my races with turtle Racing League combined and this is how I feel, so I have to stick to my principles. You gents have a good race and ill catch you Wednesday and I look forward to the new schedule!

I had my satellite Internet company back out yesterday to do another site survey to hopefully solve my lagging problem. No luck. What I've got is the best I can get with the location the satellite dish is in and it's to weak of a signal from that bird in the sky to stop my lagging issues. So I'll have to stop racing with you with fellows till I'm out of my contract with them which will be middle of January. I'm to stubborn to pay the $250 they want for me to get out of it early. I'm not getting what I've been paying for anyway. So they are giving me a reduced rate till then but big deal. That still didnt solve my problem. So I'll just be hanging out helping the new guys with questions and so forth, poking some fun when the opportunity arises if that's ok. I by no means want to quit the league.
But psycho if you need my spot on the drivers list for a new guy I completely understand.
I still would like to watch practices and the races.
So it looks like I've got 6 months to practice, read, watch and learn to get faster a lot faster hopefully.
Hope all goes well tonight. It's going to be interesting. I'll be watching.

I used to have satellite internet and went through everything to try to make it work for online gaming. No matter what speed package you get with satellite internet it will never work for online gaming because of the latency. Online gaming will work with latency up to about 100ms and most decent dsl, cable, and even 3g/4g will meet that easily. Satellite latency runs from around 350ms to 600ms. Unfortunately for rural people satellite may be the only option. When I dropped my sat internet a few years ago, I used one of the 3G usb modems from my cell company, the up and down speeds were not as good as the sat, but my latency was MUCH better and it worked fine. We finally got DSL about 2 years ago.

As far as penalties on this track goes, I had about made up my mind to skip this race if we ran penalties. The penalty system on this track is simply broken, it has been since the game came out. It's hard to find a reputable series that doesn't use the "2 tires on track" rule and that simply isn't possible with penalties on this track. In those pics about I do think that 1st pic on top left is out of bounds, but all the rest are good. The penalty system in GT5 is not good, there is a reason that the vast majority of leagues don't use it. Penalties may be ok for a series catering to people who have never driven in an online race before or kids that just can't be trusted to drive properly, but there are much better options for policing a race that the broken penalty system.

You won't get much of an argument from me. I would have preferred them being on. The last 2 times I have raced there and thought I was unfairly penalized I looked at the replay and sure enough I had 2 tires over every time. However, half of the race will be at night which adds an extra layer of difficulty, the race is 2 hours long and there will be plenty of frustration to go around as it is with spins, missed breaking points, and sand traps (just ask RacingOtaku86 ) and our "Vintage Car Races" are certainly more casual in nature than our regular races, that is why I agreed to turn penalties off. Without any 1 of those 3 ingredients we would leave have left them on. That being said, I certainly respect you sticking to your principles.

Turtle Racing League - Enduro Racing Series

Laps: 30

The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports
"It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free."

Rules

You are expected to follow The "Golden Rule" of Motorsports and adhere to the GTPlanet Online Racing Rules and exercise Good Racecraft at all times, especially in turn 1.

"Rubbin"

This is a non-contact sport. Let me put it another way, if you are "rubbin", you ain't racing in this league! We will not tolerate individual drivers taking the fun out of racing for everyone.

First Turn

You are not going to win the race on the 1st turn or the 1st lap. Therefore, it is the policy of this league for you to hold your position in turn 1. Holding your position in the first turn is limited to the first turn on the first lap. You must hold your position through the 1st turn and make no attempt to advance it unless the following situations occur: 1) The driver directly in front of you is asleep on the start. 2) The driver directly in front of you runs off course with at least 2 wheels off the track. 3) Obvious race incidents that must be avoided. Other drivers may draft past you before the approach to turn 1 if it can be done incident free. In other words, if you are able to fully draft past someone without incident or disruption to the other driver(s) with a reasonable distance before approaching the first turn you may. This rule is in place for 2 reason: (1) to avoid incidents in the first turn, and (2) so that drivers doing their part to avoid incidents in the 1st turn of are not taken advantage of. There is no sense in causing an incident in the congestion of the first turn. Furthermore, it is inappropriate to take advantage of other drivers doing their part to keep turn 1 incident free. If a complaint is filed, the decision we make will be one that promotes an incident free first turn.

Dive Bombing

Dive bombing is unacceptable, and only results in accidents. It is not the same as passing under braking. Dive-bombing is when a trailing car intentionally brakes late to dive underneath the car in front of them as they are turning into a corner. The trailing driver must move to the low groove for at least 3-4 seconds prior to corner entry, so that the leading driver can see the trailing drivers intentions in his mirror. However, running the low groove is not a guarantee that he will allow you to pass, it is only an indication that you wish to pass him on the low side.

Procedures

• Division 1 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division1 lounge

• Division 2 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division2 lounge

• Division 3 will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division3 lounge

• Division A will race at 10pm Eastern in the TURTLE_Division3 lounge

Connection Issues

Please follow the procedures below to help minimize connection issues.

Step 1: Reboot your modem/router
Step 2: Reboot your PS3
Step 3: Clear your GT5 in game System Cache

Pit Stops

Drivers need to be very careful entering the race track when exiting the pit. Please look at your map to see if other drivers are near the pit exit. Drivers exiting the pit need to stay in the pit exit lane until the track is clear of cars on the track. Cars on the track have the right of way.

Quitting

Drivers are expected to finish races no matter what position they are in. Rage quitting is frowned upon! :grumpy:

Microphones

Although you are welcome to use microphones during the race, they should only be used to communicate your proximity to other drivers in order to avoid an incident. Otherwise, either mute them or make sure any background noise in non-existent.

Reminders

• Hold your position and do not attempt advance it in turn 1 of lap 1

• If you go off track make sure the track is clear before you re-enter

• If you cause an accident you must wait and give the position back

Race Incidents

Legitimate complaints are encouraged, they insure a better racing environment for everyone. Complaints should be addressed by "Private Message" to the race steward of the race in which the incident occurred. Please include race number, lap number, and time of incident. A ruling will be announced after a video review by an independent steward. All racing incidents or racing related issues shall be dealt with privately and under no circumstance mentioned publicly.

Final Note

Race Clean and Have Fun!

Severe t storms headed my way, may lose power. Also heavy rain has a tendency to lag up my internet connection if not disable it completely (it has happened before) so I will make every effort to race tonight. If you guys think I'm lagging, or my car is freaking out on track during practice and qualifying please let me know, and ill sit it out :)

Nothing like a spazzy car jumping all over the track to ruin a good race am I right?
