Thanks scarecrow and Busted! Basically, and I still need to do some room setup trials for testing, but if I were to spitball an idea, this is what I'm thinking.
I'm thinking of themed races, where you can chose a vehicle type, for instance:
FF Honda, non race cars
FR Pre 1990 American, non race cars
Mazda Miata - any year, non race car
Those 3 are just quick examples.
Basically, a loose guideline, let the racers choose the car, paint, mods, the lot. Make it more personal and diverse so racers can take pride in their skills AND the selection of car/mod/color.
Next, set a small track, Tskuba for example. A race such as 50 laps. No pit stops. This is more of a grassroots, I drove my car to a track day, don't have a pit crew, kinda thing. The big benefit of the small track is that the guys out front will only get away from the slower ones for a little bit. There will be a lot of overlap giving the slower guys more opportunity to learn from the guys out front, and also give the guys out front more obstacles and opportunities to perfect passing skills.
Tire selection would depend on the PP, but generalized down to Comfort, Sports, or Racing to choose within. Remember here, no pits, so the softest may be better to start, but worse at the end!!
The one thing I haven't had time to do yet is look at room setup in regards to PP. But, my idea s to set a PP limit, the cars can reach the limit by any mod available, but, no power limiter can be used. Is that an option that can be regulated? If so, it would prevent someone from bringing a monster and limiting it to 75% (I feel those still have an advantage).
Anyhow, that's what I was thinking. Maybe a once a month race to cleanse the palette of all the standardized, must use this car in this color with no mods.
Thoughts?
