Well...it could be the maintenance of the online servers....💡
really? on the French's version of the GT website it says SERVERS update... so it doesn't leave much to our imagination, does it?

I have never got excited about maintenance periods but these two are very intriguing, have we had maintenance this long before ?
The CM is not a big deal for me, but as Pcars has been a big disappointment so far, I would like to think something good will happen.

At the following time we will perform maintenance on the servers for Gran Turismo 6:

From UK Site:
Start: 07/07/2015 12:00 BST (GMT +1)
Finish: 07/07/2015 20:00 BST (GMT +1)

Start: 09/07/2015 12:00 BST (GMT +1)
Finish: 09/07/2015 20:00 BST (GMT +1)

From USA Site:
Start: 07/07/2015 07:00 EDT
Finish: 07/07/2015 15:00 EDT

Start: 07/09/2015 07:00 EDT
Finish: 07/09/2015 15:00 EDT

During the maintenance, it will not be possible to connect to any of the online services.

*Please note that the maintenance time may be subject to change.
I fixed it for you. Please, for the love of Kaz, post all information available if you are going to make a thread like this!

I'm really curious about this. Some people have likened this rather unusual maintenance period to back in GT5 when it was being updated to Spec 2.0 . So okay, let's say this update will bring some new features into GT6. Back then, what where the new features GT5 had in 2.0 after its own very long maintenance period (aside from the new intro)?

You know it's a sad time when we get excited about a maintenance.
Overhyped is a more appropriate term.

Unrelated... did the servers actually get worse after the last maintenance period? Haven't played online in months but I've noticed some posts on here where people mentioned the online being worse than before.

Just wondering how many people are already playing around with the F5 key?

I would be surprised if it's Spec 2.0 with course maker.
Other than that I would guess the removal of GT Academy.

I spent a good two hours online yesterday and saw a minor difference with lobby loading times and the lag that occurs when a few people enter the track at the same time. Baby steps, really, but it's better than no improvement.

Improvements would be nice. Ever since release, I was unable to get into an online lobby without issue unless I was the last in the lobby. Never had issues with any other game like I have with GT6.

Here's the answer to your question: http://www.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt5/spec2/

Same here :)

I don't care what anyone says, two 8 hour maintences? PD is testing something out on those servers. We're probably not gonna get the course maker update or FIA Championship immediately after, but whenever we get it, the online functionality of it must be HUGE for all these maintenance periods. Just my take on the maintenance.

Pretty sure 2.0 swapped all of the sounds for standard cars and race cars around. It's why the Saleen, C5-R, ISF Racing Concept and CLK GTR sound utterly bollocks. They used to be tolerable.

Everyone just needs to calm down. I really don't blame PD for the really slow delivery of updates; I mean they're also busy working on GT7. For this particular maintenance period, as long as they return the physics back to pre-1.09, I'm happy.

What was different pre 1.09? I can't remember any difference.

That was when the cars started having crazy camber angles as stock, because of their physics adjustment. Most cars had 0.5 and 1.5 camber as stock, back then during release, all cars had 0.0 camber as stock.

As for the thread, well PD did manage to surprise us with the Red Bull Ring and Midfield Raceway. Both were unannounced. Who knows? Maybe PD will surprise us again after this maintenance period. Maybe.

So it didn't do anything to physics, it just spoilt tuning restricted races?

:banghead: Read carefully. They changed the physics, and in doing so, they had to adjust the default settings of the tuning parts to match the physics update.

I learned my lesson from the last maintenance thread (Thanks Famine :guilty::grumpy:), so beneficial and insightful words this time.

It is clear that this is the longest maintenance period ever seen between Gran Turismo 5 and 6, without question. Do we know why? Probably. But after the 7/1 maintenance period, just approach the coming maintenance work with a blank state of mind. One particular trend here is that people are quick to say "omg could this be the new <feature>?!?!?!" And what ends up happening is that it's something completely unexpected and in requested, but usually a pleasant surprise.

I was racing with 3 friends last night. In the past it used to be a solid, high quality experience which has been getting worse over the last few months to a year with some nights that are better than others. Yesterday though, was of really poor quality for us, some of the worst lag we've had between us since GT6 came out. Everybody who entered after the 4 of us could not stay in the room for more than 30 seconds before getting dropped either.

I say this almost every time there's a scheduled maintenance, but I hope whatever they are doing actually has some noticeable improvements to their online infrastructure and the quality of experience online, sometimes I feel like I am racing a bunch of people on 56K dial-up when we all have excellent fibre optic connections.
