We find ourselves at a race weekend again.

I see some of you have been practicing amongst yourselves. As much as I would have liked to be with you, other commitments have kept me away.

Tonight sees timed runs to help determine the super lap release order. I urge you to attend and post your best time. The earlier you get out the better temperature your tyres will hold for your lap.

I hope to have a room open for 20:30. See you there 👍

I'm running a bit behind this evening. I will be on to host from 21:00.

If someone else wants to start proceedings I'll join in when I get online.

I won't be at home in time for tonight's race guys, I'm sorry. Wish you all the best!
Thanks for letting us know. This means you'll be all the faster at Race 3 :scared:

Moving on to the best practice times from everyone so far.

Awesome racing again for the second race this season!
Congratulations to Warren en Gary for the podium!!

Was going for a 1 stopper, but during the first stint I barely made it to lap 18 on a full tank.
With others pitting earlier, I decided to go with one stop less then the rest.
Second stint confirmed that with the red light on at lap 16, I could just make 2 more laps.
So the final 19 laps it was 'lift and coast' & short shifting all the way.
Not what I'm used too and I don't know if I would do it again, but it worked!
Great race with Will and Paul with Will having to do an extra stop gifting me the podium and Paul closing in fast in the end.

Let's do Midfield!

Excellent racing from everyone last night. The super lap qualifying is putting the pressure on right off the bat and a missed step can make a much more challenging race, as demonstrated by sholsey.

I spent a majority of my race jostling for position with jammyrex and manage to make a pass on the final lap. I don't think I've ever had that much tension in the closing stages of a race. Ever.

Thank you all for making this what it is.

Now for an admission. I neglected to record the qualifying times from the super lap:censored::ouch::banghead: What is the point of running a special procedure, then not recording the results to use:irked:

I'll try harder next time.

Here are the results from Fuji

Congratulations to theewar, Cpt_D and Cobani. theewar's car is gaining weight fast, will he be able to use this momentum to his advantage or will the lighter more spry cars of Cpt_D & Cobani find victory. Could even Sholsey make it into the top 3? In two weeks we will find out at Midfield Raceway.

Here is your points table

And finally, here is your weather forecast

I'd like to join if space?

I am very interested in joining. My car number is 47, Body color White, Wheel Red. Please let me know if there is space, and if there is anything else I need to do.

There are still seats available.

If you could both send me a friend request to

GC255

As a vast majority of the rooms that I run are friends only rooms and also, so that I can create you each a driver card for the series.

WestRoadZ, if you can give me a car number, body and wheel colour, so I can fill in the remaining information on your card.

Thank you both for your interest.

Well that was a fun race on Sunday, despite the frustration of topping out in 6th gear at 161mph the whole race long!

I apologise for my lack of preparation, and it's my own fault for not setting up my car properly!

Despite this, I had a great race long battle with GC... It tested my defensive driving to the limit! Then on the very last lap, GC managed to get in front of me for the final time. As we approached the last few corners, I was still right in his tail, but I ran out of juice just as I pulled onto the start finish straight. So thanks Gary for a most entertaining race. I thought I'd be absolutely nowhere with my hobbled gear ratios, but thankfully still made a race of it.

Congrats to the podium finishers. Look forward to the next race and trying to learn to tame this high revving beast!

Gary....would the GT6 community club TT be up yet for midfield? I see you've updated results and ballast on OP.

Obviously practice maybe a bit leaner as you sink your teeth into the upcoming Endurance schedule and strat, so this is more a heads up for the new chaps @WestRoadZ and @CMH777 to post some times in there (sans ballast), I expect you may have benchmarked it already.

Make sure you join club when you FR GC255 and have got your favourite/chosen suit and helmet in community profile page for your driver card also.

Also FR the rest of us lads, if your serious, Gary maybe too busy to hold a practice session at some point, and of course they would be encouraged to supplement this foreseen lessened practice by getting to know us while the Endurance testing is done.

Ahh! One more thing, I presume my new curb weight will just be 1138kg?

Edit: I see you've created TT. Nice.

I was setting it up as you posted. The maintenance has meant I've been a little less prompt than usual. You can find it here

You would be correct 👍
I would be interested to try this series out.
If you and @WestRoadZ can send a Friend request to GC255 and I can start working on things my end. Also which number would you like to use on your car?

I only ask that you send me the friend request as I know some people have multiple accounts.

First practice laps revealed 1:06.5xx as race pace for me. How is the rest coming along? Practice is less because of the Enduro practice, I understand that, but just curious. Planning on doing long runs tonight and maybe some SCAR.

Started to tinker too much last night, will have to come back to it, hybridising tabs A+C I think.

I love this track, for a PD original, but I'm fully on the edge when I've made my best times so, invariably, immediately lose it at turn one.

On and off I spent most of yesterday chasing GC's outstanding 1:06:639? Benchmark time, rarely getting, consistently under 1:07.
Then spent a bit of the evening with Megg and Cap thrashing around with suddenly no idea (they'll both attest to the state of the track) and sitting silently in awe of Cap doing fuels runs???!!! and tending to all other minutiae I expect. Class act.

1:06:448 is my best currently Bo.

My pedals need cleaning also, so be off for a couple while I get round to doing them. Both are pulsing.

Did a few laps for the first time on this track. Short, straightforward, had to watch Warren though, in order to see the lines for the double right hander just before the tunnel, and for the approach on the tight hairpin. William's driving gave me an idea on how to set up my gear box ( we share the same ballast as well). 06.5 race pace sounds very good Bo, I think on race day fastest lap will be .0 - .1 and super lap pole around .2 - .3 or .4 with dry conditions. Although after 15 laps lap times will go to 07's. My fastest lap time comes on lap 4 or 5 with a .0 if I'm lucky, from then on .5 for some laps then gradually dropping to .8 until the inevitable 07's after lap 15 or something. Hope this post helps. If you set your gearbox so that you have to go from 4th to 3rd gear on the long left after the tunnel, you'll probably spend more time on the throttle and achieve a faster exit. That's it so far from me, just for the record I too left my car on fumes and changed tyres, did a 05.4. Ballast plays its part for sure Warren.

With this weekend being a busy affair for me trying to manage two GTP Endurance Series races Tsukuba 4 hour and Japan 12 Hour. I intend to open a practice room Thursday(tonight), Friday(tomorrow) and Saturday. These should all be open around 20:30 BST.

I cannot guarantee the Saturday evening session but I will try to run it as best I can.

The Friday session will also have an end time, as there is a qualifying session for Japan 12 Hour that night at 22:00 BST, which I and other members will need to attend.

If you cannot make any of these sessions and intend to race this coming Sunday, please use the Time Trial room I have created. Times posted here will give me an idea when to release you to track for your super lap qualifying. If any of the new drivers to this series has any questions regarding this, please ask. I'd hate for there to be any confusion on the evening and penalties to be applied as a result.

Thank you for your understanding and with all being well, I'll see you tonight (this afternoon depending on your time zone)👍

Another practice room will be open tonight from around 20:30 until 22:00 BST.

If I have time before then, I'll post yesterday's fastest laps.

it is with regret that I will have to pull out of the Type R Cup. it does not seem appropriate to be involved without the time needed to at least be somewhat competitive. Good luck to you all and I will stop in when time permits to see how the racing is going.

Thanks

That's a shame. Naturally you'll still be welcome to practice sessions and races if you find yourself available and there's space.

Absolutely cracking practice tonight lads :) my first taste of car and track together, thankfully settled in reasonably quickly, think my best was a 1.16.2. Wow, what a physical car and track combo, think it's gonna be close midpack :👍

Race #3 from the super GT series this is emulating uses Sepang. I think this track captures the speed of an F1 circuit.

Another session will be open tonight from around 20:30, I won't have to drop out, but my attention will be a little divided because of the Tsukuba 4H.

Times I already have logged should be posted later on today.

As promised Here are the best laps I've recorded so far.

Mid-Field Practice Times
Cobani...1.05.861
GTP_Cpt_D....1:06.083
Jammyrex... 1:06.219
theewar... 1.06.224
megg230... 1.06.228
SoKaGT-Racing... 1:06.345
GC255... 1.06.552
Weescotman... 1:06.553

Cobani Holds the fastest lap in practice so far. Will it be enough of a margin to be safe?

I'll open a room in around 20 minutes so people can see if they can beat it.

A Reminder that these times form the basis for the release order for the super lap qualifying. If no time is available You will be released at the back end of the order.
