Well....great racing again guys, I was a little shocked at my lack of pace but if through any race I feel my race craft is good, that makes me a happy boy.
So one squirrelly moment and the slightest of rubs with
@jammyrex, as I showed my nose to apply some late pressure is alright by me.
But my pace!!??
I had run most of the week just practicing in the TT lobby, the car felt good, I was running comfortably under 07s, getting 06.3s-.4s.
Knowing I would be away from Friday till race day at my cousins wedding, I posted an actual time so GC would have an idea of my release position. And that time (1:06:484 I think) was pretty much par for the course for me, so I left content.
Got home on Sunday at around 4, still slightly hungover, so had a lie down until about 7:45. Once I woke up properly got in the lobby about 8:20. Did my checks and I was good to proceed.
The moment GC released me and asked to hold station as others completed their flyer, my heart dropped. I immediately
squirrelled onto the grass on the right. The car felt extremely disconnected front and back. Turn one, it didn't turn in, the essess after turn two I had scary oversteer, then no turn in for the first right for the tunnel. All the way round I was tippey toeing.
So for most of the race I was foraging for new brake markers an turn in points. It was very strange. To me the car felt completely different from how smooth and buttery it was through the week.
During the race my fastest lap was a 1:06:53x????? I've not known myself to not beat my quali or best practice time during the race before.
But believe me when I say I'm not in bleet mode or fishing for some glitch acknowledgement, I'm putting it down to being away from the game and seeing off about 2 bottles of JD Tennessee Honey on top of pints the previous 2 days.
So a couple of questions:
Do you guys ever have trouble or how long does it take you to get back in the groove if you've had some time away from the game? It seems I have to be constantly exposed to it to be competitive or I lose all feel very quickly.
Do you ever find you've made a set-up for a car (even the ones that rarely come out the garage: I'm still a collecting freak for authentic replica photos but I'll still drive and tweak them) be happy with it, but come back weeks/months later and find it feels terrible?
This is me just gauging how natural some of you are and how easy it is for you to tune to your style (haven't worked out what mine is)
Right that sounds like a moan, but I've written it now, but it couldn't be further from the truth. The fact is, I wouldn't want to drive with anyone else but the S.C.A.R. crew. With
@GTP_ADE and
@CTR Driver at the helms I hope to be part of it as long as it lasts.
With that in mind, I'd like to welcome
@TRL_Andromeda and hope we rub off on him as much as I'd like he to rub off on us. OOOER!!!!
For GC it looks like he already did. Fnarrr!!!! fnarrrr!!! (Finbar Saunders: Google it)
We won't mention the other 2 on the podium because 'They ain't heavy, they're my brothers!!!!' Oh wait....
Well done all! ****ing love it!
Did Bo run out of time then? Or he had other plans? That would have really made it fun at the front.
Here Kev
@jammyrex this is the vid I used for cleaning pedals. I've had blipping pedals twice in 3.5 yrs including last weekend and it's worked every time. The base will be covered in fluff even if you have no pets.
It's not all bad though, I got to drive the old mans grand tourer most of the weekend when not drunk.
