Ugly But Appealing Vehicles

I find the Sierra saloon a rather attractive car, actually. Certainly not the prettiest of cars, but I wouldn't necessarily call it 'ugly'.
I don't find it exactly ugly either, but I've heard other people call it that.

I've heard other people call it that.

Early models I can understand, but later Sierras? They along the Scorpio* were Ford of Europe's smartest-looking models from the late 80s right through to the end of their lives in 1994. Far more stylish than the mid-90s blobs that replaced them.

*Nothing else in the Ford range could beat the '92 facelift.

Sorry i I'm continuing a Ford trend but does anyone think this is ugly?

This is a Ford NF Fairlane Ghia.

Yeah, I would say so. At least in terms of its proportions such as the length of the back in comparison to the trunk. The rear windows also look odd to me.

Look what I've found on the internet...

Looks sorta appealing but Jesus Christ, what's up with that nose...

And also, some people might agree with me. Sorta like it, but the more you look, the uglier it is.

Earlier models had such a contemporary design compared to the rest of the range, you'd be forgiven for thinking they'd released it well after the introduction of the Mk IV Escort.

That said, only the post-facelift examples have aged well. Even when the basic design was nearly a decade old by the time the Marmite Mk II arrived.

I see one and can't help but wonder why I like it. Did I see one in a movie I loved? Who knows...

(Oh, it's an Iso Rivolta Lele--for those unfamiliar.)

i love that generation, EL's are the best. yeah its ugly but so classy, big and relaxing to drive, paired with a smooth auto gearbox. my friend has one.

Green and yellow aren't my favorite combination of colors on any car, but....The child in me can't help but think this is freaking awesome.

Got a soft spot for the Toyota Verossa

The grill extends too far back into the hood, but I find the thing very attractive otherwise.

I've had an appreciation for the Acura ZDX's unconventional design since I saw it at the Houston Auto Show in 2010--it suffers from grill issues as well.

In my opinion, the Acura ZDX isn't such a bad car. I think the grill is fine, as it resembles some other Acuras of this time. However, I do not like the way the back and the top of the windows are slanted, making it look too much like a concept car not ready for production. The wheel choice isn't too shabby either. This car is no longer in US production because of a lack of sales. The base price is way to high, at over 50,000 US dollars.

The 505 isn't remotely ugly IMO, but that burned-out image with a blacked-out grille and non-standard rear spoiler isn't the most flattering view of one I've ever seen.

I personally think it's quite elegant. Clean lines, simple details, the pinched grille avoids it looking too dull and the tapering trunk lid stops it looking too boxy.

The grill comment referred to the Toyota Verossa. I love Acura's familial shield grill, and the necessary 'weight' it adds to the front half of the ZDX. We bought it new in late '11 ('12 model), optioned as it was, for a hair under 53, but confident that it could have been had for under 45 with fewer amenities.
