I agree the FXX shouldn't be on the power board at all, they even said that Ferrari won't let any who owns one actually have it and drive it on the roads and like you said it probably isn't legal. Therefore the FXX doesn't fit the power board rules and shouldn't be on there. It was an awesome time though.
That hasn't stopped people though now that Edo has gotten their hands on a FXX.

I enjoyed it also... even the schumy/stig staged moment 👍

That damn FXX was blazin around the track for sure... like a bloomin rocket  I wonder what the Zonda R will do against that laptime when it shows itself on the track? ;)

I think it was a great start to the new season

You're not the only one.

I actually enjoyed the Evora review, but that's about it. The race was so so, and the Stig nonsense was a silly gimmick to take peoples attention off who the real stig is (Ben Collins, and a few others).

However, I'm never really thrilled with the first episode of a new series. I have higher hopes for episode 2.

;)

Me too. There should be some classic films in this series, particularly for me the Ken Block and James May film, the best car for a 17 year old and the Lamborghini LP760-4 race in Dubai!

I'm expecting the race between the McLaren F1 and the million dollar Golf to be quite epic, as well.

I haven't watched last nights episode, Just downloading it now on BBC iPlayer, looks like its going to be a great series tho.

Lol, have you seen the massive feature on it in this month's Top Gear magazine?

It seems to be quite an interesting race from what they wrote, but with no hints as to who won!

To be honest I didn't like that part of the show, the whole Stig - Schumacher part was poor imo and I'd have preferred if they'd just had Schuey in as a regular Star and seen a proper lap from him in the Chevy. I enjoyed the episode but certinaly not a great one, the series looks promising though.

I really liked the episode, actually. Particularly the 1949 Race. I find it fascinating to think about how difficult it would have been to travel at great speeds at the time, despite the massive leaps forward in technology following the war. I found Jeremy's parts with the train to be most-entertaining, especially when it is (as he explained) a technology that was already out-of-date by the time 1949 even came around.

I'm looking forward to the ZR1 test, as we all know about my uncontrollable love for Corvettes.

So, I've compiled a list of everything I saw in the preview video:

Ken Block Gymhkana
new SL-klasse
Snow- Porsche 944 vs rally car vs Z32 (Clarkson)
snow- 1-series rally car vs rally car
Veyron vs Mclaren F1 (hammond)
Trying to impress girls in econoboxes (may)?
R8 vs ZR1
Aston Martin protest with sloganed econocars?
An aston
Porsche Panamera
Flipping a truck with Hammond
Shotting at Evo 7 (Clarkson)
dinosaur and Stig
Murcielago SV (Hammond)
M5 versus fast XF
Clarkson mends a 944
Scirocco
fast Megane vs focus RS
And, inexplicably, a coffin.

I can't wait for the snow battles!

Sure the lap was funny for a bit, but I was expecting a real lap to be shown. I don't know why they started the season with a race, but I guess it's good to get the boring out of the way.

Furthermore, that FXX certainly does not belong on the board. You can't take delivery of the car, it's probably not fully road legal, and it would be a miracle getting that car over a sleeping policeman.

;)

I'm surprised none of you are remembering the other cars that were done & put on the power board despite breaking the rules, such as the DBR9 (even if it was thrown away 5 seconds later).

Give it a week, and see if in the next episode, it's still there or not.

Haha I remembered that episode while watching then saw it a few days later on Dave. Much prefer everything about the DBR9, the noise, the wheel spin off the line and the looks are all wayy better!

Episode 2 Preview

Source - Top Gear Website

What to expect this week? Jeremy, Richard and James put the needs of our younger viewers first by trying to find the perfect car for 17-year-olds. They negotiate insurance companies, accident repairs and a muddy music festival car park in the process – as you can see from the pictures.

Plus, Richard goes to Abu Dhabi to test the new Murcielago SV and, as you might have seen in this months’ Top Gear magazine, stages the race we’ve all waited 10 years for – Bugatti Veyron against mighty McLaren F1.

The star in our reasonably priced car this week is Twittering national treasure Stephen Fry, who returns for a second attempt at our track.

Is that a MKIII Golf with a body-kit? Who wants to bet it's Clarkson's? The Volvo is likely Senor May's. That leaves Hammond with what appears to be an Integra...

I'm pretty sure most people remembered. But like you said they took them off right away.

The other one I remember is the F1 car. I'm not sure if there were more.

To my knowledge, they did the Renault F1 as you mentioned & I think even a jet that did it in 30 seconds.

Using EA11R's base, I came up with this.

Ken Block Gymhkana
SL65AMG Black.
Snow- Porsche 944 vs rally car vs Z32 (Clarkson)
snow- 1-series rally car vs rally car
Veyron vs Mclaren F1 vs LP670 Murcielago (Hammond)
R8 V10 (Note the rims and V10 badge on the preview) vs ZR1
Aston Martin protest with sloganed econocars?
Aston Martin V12 Vantage.
Porsche Panamera
Another truck challenge or one of Hammond's typical new types of racing.
Some type of race in older cars? (Possible May in the Renault, Jezza in that Porsche?)
Shotting at Evo 7 (Clarkson, we all know how that turned out)
Dinosaur and Stig
Murcielago SV in Dubai, against McLF1 and Veyron (Hammond)
Test of Jaguar XFR, eventually put against an M5 for comparison.
Scirocco
Megane R26 vs. Focus RS.

That's a lot of content for a show that's an hour long....

From that pic of the challenge board, it looks like Jezza went for the Volvo.

That picture is giving away a bit too much, if I'm honest.

It's at the end of the challenge (only one more space open for scores), and you can clearly see that Jeremy is going to lose (most likely, although that's no surprise), and whoever is second on the board is probably going to win. It's tough to see the bottom score, but I'd wager it's smaller than the middle, from what I can see.

;)

True, but in typical Top Gear fashion, 1 of them may just ignore the mathematics all together & declare themselves the winner. ;)
