241 mph. In 1993. Without 4 turbochargers, without all wheel drive, traction control, stability control, no semi-automatic twin clutch paddle gearbox.

you might wanna recheck your source on that one and at least VW didn't have to modify the veyron to make it do its top speed ;)

You guys are worried about the F1's limiter being removed? If you wanna get annoyed at top speed claims, get annoyed at Jaguar for their claiming the XFR is the fastest Jaguar ever, yet to do that it needed major aero mods, a notable power bump and special tyres over stock on a salt lake to do it.:ouch:

PS- I love the XFR, but I don't like that Jaguar did all those mods then used the result for claims.

That it did. it's no longer 100% as-it's-sold to customer.
That doesn't mean it was modified in the same sense holden was trying to make it. By that logic, I can claim the Veyron can't be eligible for any speed record of 254Mph+ because the speed limiter has to be removed.

The car is shown to be perfectly capable of hitting 240Mph under its own power. A rev. limiter is just a safety feature for the engine.

Yep. And apparently if the final gear ratio was longer or the car had a seventh gear the car felt like it could go faster.

Touche...

I'm confused now, what car are we talking about? Who's Holden?

I think this is kind of like buying a gun with the safety on and saying it can't support any of it's claims because you have to "modify" it to make it shoot at all.

Perhaps, but in the Bugatti, the owner of the car can do it himself with a key. no need to visit dealership and ask to do it for him or her.

What the hell does the key to get the car in top speed mode have to do with anything?

You can't remove the limited on the Bugatti, it's 252mph top speed is a restricted top speed. It could go faster but they'd have needed a more compromised tyre compound for it to work, ie a tyre that doesn't work as well in anything but dry and flat roads as the tyre they have.

Was an ok episode I thought, maybe it's due to me being completely tired but I thought the previous week was more enjoyable. I'll probably watch it again tommorrow so my opinion may change. But at the moment I think that SIARPC could well have been my favourite part.

as i was watching that i was thinking, 'someones gonna be rather chuffed on gtp'

Haha Same!

Anyway I rather enjoyed tonights, although I don't think TG's filming of Ken Block was that great and James had to do some stupid commentary over the top, but mabye I'm just being harsh because I'm so used to how its done in the Gymkhana vids. I especially wasn't expecting Carmichael to be the Motocrosser, I have nothing against the guy because he's an awesome racer but Ken and Travis have done so much more together.

The rest of the show had me laughing alot, and the Star in a Reasonably Priced car interview had me in tears, McIntyre is just so damn funny all the time!

I'm glad they showed how stupid the SL Black is. Sure it looks cool but it's a car without a point.

The small car thing was lame and not even remotely funny or informative. Be either one or the other, but not neither. I understood the Alfa but there are so many other good small cars in Europe why in the world did they choose that Skoda? The dog test wasn't even that good either.

The Ken Block thing was awesome though, although I haven't seen anything of his yet that wasn't just plain cool. He really does have one of the best jobs ever since he is more or less a professional hooligan.

It was, er, average I guess. The SL Black review was okay, nothing more and nothing less. A little bit of humour in it but not my favourite car review ever from TG, but still excellent cinematography as per usual. The news was quite good, not as funny as previous weeks in my opinion, but they kind of kept on track so I suppose that was a good thing. The Ken Block segment was yet again alright, however I felt it was lacking something compared to his Gymkhana videos on the internet it just lacked something. SIARPC was, probably my highlight of the show. When I heard it was Michael this week I certainly was looking forward to it, unlike most people I do find him funny, so it was a joy to see him on TG. The small cars segment first half was okay but yet again nothing special a couple of funny elements. However, the second half was funny and good. Thoroughly enjoyed the second half.

So in general just above average, the SIARPC and the second part of the small car challenge, oh and the Car Sauna thing which was excellent. So...

8/10

IMO the 2nd section of the small cars test was terrible. It appears that they did the entire piece just to set up for the finale. The Skoda made no sense, the dog test was funny but pointless, and the challenges were mainly boring and seemed to be designed to even out the playing field ready for the 500 bit.

Obviously, I didn't mind the finale, infact I loved it, but why didn't they just choose the 500 in the first place and then do a genuine test with the iQ and a few other small cars? The Roomster was very very out of place there.

Because the whole show is nothing but entertainment & anyone who considers Top Gear as actual, reliable info on buying cars is a ninny?

Well at least now I know the SL Black is rubbish, but I suspected that from the beginning.

If it was me the Roomster would have won the small car challenge.

The Skoda made no sense [...] The Roomster was very very out of place there.

Not necessarily. Clarkson has mentioned on several occasions that he likes the Citroen Berlingo, and seeing how the new Berlingo is a hulking great thing compared to the old one (and therefore not really a 'small car' anymore), it wouldn't surprise me if he thought the Roomster would be an adequate replacement.

It wasn't, but still.

(Just FYI, the Roomster is actually horrid. The massive back windows and tiny front windows means it feels like sitting in the back of a Ford Courier van.)

I thought it was a good episode. The small car test wasn't that interesting but the rest was good.

I actually liked the Ken Block section more than I liked his second Gymkhana video. No useless junk like paintball guns, water ballons, flourescent lights, and the slow mo wasn't overused. It was simply man, machine and an interesting track with some great drifting and driving. Gotta love James May's face when the car is soaring over the jump.

I thought Michael McIntyre was hilarious. Definitely one of the more entertaining stars (both on and off the track).

So who's gonna give the car sauna game a try?

Epic win for the protest thing.

"2, 4, 6, 8 Jacqui Smith's husband likes to mast...oh wait I can't say that."

Dog thing was hilarious. Good episode.
